Long time since I've seen a Premier League team tonked around like that. I doubt we're going to see four english teams in the round of 16 even though Spurs are in a relatively weak group (Bayern apart).
What English team do you see failing to make it to the R16? I still can't see any of them not making it through. As for the Italian teams, there will only be Juventus and Napoli
Given the seeming turmoil at Spurs, i can see them missing out. As I said, it's a weak group, but Spurs are in a bad place right now.
They already tied Olympiacos away from home, sure they lost to Bayern but doesn't really matter, as long as they get 7pts from the 3 remaining games between Red Star and Olympiacos they're through
Possibly but with Dinamo Zagreb beating them 4-0 at home, that is already a huge goal difference to overcome there even for Europa League.
For England: Man City, Liverpool, and Tottenham will be through to Round of 16. Chelsea to Europa League. For Italy: Juventus, Napoli, and Inter will make Round of 16. Atalanta will finish 4th and won't even make Europa League For Germany: Bayern Munich, and RB Leipzig will make Round of 16. Dortmund and Leverkusen will go to Europa League.
Napoli will make it. Liverpool is the only real tough team in the group, and they already beat them once. While Liverpool will likely be group winners, Napoli will advance.
I know but I think Napoli will beat Salzburg in Italy though. Likely draw in Austria or even if they lose, I still think Napoli will have the better record.
The way I see it, Liverpool has 20 matches in the final 11 weeks of 2019. Plus they are really focusing on EPL this season. Its gonna be a full B team that they put out against Salzburg, assuming Liverpool win their next 3 CL games. They don't have the luxury to be fair to everyone and put out their A team for sporting reasons if they've already mathematically clinched a place in the KO stage. So IMO it will come down to the 2 head-to-head matches, and maybe down to away goals. While RB might be underdogs, they have a decent shot. Same boat as Inter, really.
If you believe Salzburg are favourites to qualify because of the last fixture then I don't know how to reply to you that is just so wrong. On the other hand I do think that Salzburg shouldn't be taken lightly at all. They proved by coming down from 0-3 at Anfield that they're dangerous as hell.
Salzburg's two games have had 15 combined goals. Last season 9 of the clubs had fewer than 15 combined goals in their six Group Stage games. Salzburg is already over halfway to the most combined Group Stage goals last season, which was 26 by PSG. Salzburg's 9 goals are more than all of Group A, which has 8 goals and includes PSG and Real, and Group F, which has 7 goals and includes Barcelona.
Well first win for Atalanta. Gosh, if Atalanta can beat Shakhtar Donetsk, and Dinamo Zagreb does not beat Man City, they can even advance. I'm pretty confident that Dinamo Zagreb will not beat Man City, might end in a draw since Man City are already qualified. However, Atalanta beating Shakhtar Donetsk in Ukraine is way easier said than done. Wishful thinking here that I hope happens, but probably not. Shakhtar Donetsk can be very strong at home, and this is a do or die match for them.
Looking like all 4 English sides are gonna progress now. Spain heading towards 3-for-4, with Barca Atleti and Valencia all cutting it close. Italy probably 2-for-3, though Atalanta with still a decent shot. Germany might only get 2-for-4
Still unsure about Chelsea. I know they are leading Valencia now, but Valencia has had the better chances. For Italy Juventus and Napoli should both make it through. Atalanta I hope but I doubt. Inter vs Dortmund (who advances) is a huge toss up. Really depends on how Slavia Prague and Barcelona perform. Barcelona has really been underperforming, and its hard to predict which games they might show up on. Inter might be lucky that Barca is their last game, so if Barca secure top spot, maybe Inter can beat them in Italy. For Germany, Bayern Munich is already through. RB Leipzig looks like they'll be through. Dortmund as I said is a toss up. Leverkusen I doubt it. Just as I finish writing this, Valencia have a penalty and likely will tie it 2-2. Gosh Valencia vs Chelsea is a toss up.
But UCL is kind of a different story. I don't think it will look ugly today. Liverpool are favorites to win, but it won't be a thrashing I think.
Yeah, Valencia did come back to draw but that's all Chelsea really needed anyway. A win against Lille at Stamford bridge guarantees their advancement. Lyon's loss means they are now 3rd in their group with their last match against Leipzig. So France will either be 1-for-3 or 2-for-3 depending whether Lyon can get a result against RedBull + help in other matches.
