It's interesting the things that pop up on your youtube opening page somethines... this just appeared for me. The though that occurred to me is that, although we just use their names, (or sometimes acronyms like CHO), these people are often just kids. Like really young. If they make mistakes, (in life or just on the pitch), it's maybe not all that surprising.
Me too, I had high hopes for him when he first broke through and was delighted to see him included in the 2014 WC squad, but he's just never kicked on like you say. The thing is when RLC comes back from his injury I imagine Chelsea's midfield will be Kante-RLC-Jorginho with Kovacic the premier bench option and then long term I expect Gilmour to start to come through as he looked fantastic the other night albeit it was Grimsby. It's also worth noting that with Pedro, Willian and Pulisic all forwards I reckon Mount may find himself in midfield more as the season goes on so I think Barkley's future at Chelsea looks uncertain.
On another note, I'm delighted for Trippier. I'll hold my hands up and say I was one of the first people to criticise his inclusion in the post-season squad which he was cut from, however he is really rediscovering his form and has slotted in seamlessly at Atleti. Had a really good game last night up against Hazard and it's so good to see English players are finally seeing the light when it comes to European moves.
Chance of CHO being called up? He’ll likely have played another 120 minutes over the next week and we know how much he has to offer.
Tbh I actually wouldn't want him to be at the moment. He's just got back from a serious injury and needs to recover fully and manage his games carefully. Don't want a risk of any re-injury. On another note I wonder what will happen with Tomori and Abraham.
If you listen to any Nigerians, they’re already going to play for them! Guess it’s a good job I’m not listening much
Lingard is badly out of form at the moment. He literally barely does anything in a game, it’s shocking. Saka was pretty darn good tonight, he’s going to play a lot more this season and could be in contention soon.
He was not good at all tonight and I wrote my last post before he had kicked a ball. I just don’t know what he currently brings to the Utd team, never mind what he would bring to the England team. It will be bizarre if Southgate picks him as it’s not like he’s a high ceiling player that’s badly out of form, he’s just a pretty average player in general imo.
Chris Smalling having a great start for Roma, can't help but feel he's the one player who's been really hard done by by Southgate. Still only 29 so no reason he couldn't still be in contention for the euros and the world cup, considering England's centre back options beyond the injured Stones and not playing Gomez are the likes of Keane and Tarkowski he should still be walking into the squad. I know the whole thing about playing style, but its not like Keane is particularly comfortable in passing out from the back either. While I wouldn't want to be starting him regular he certainly has his uses if England are in backs to the wall defending mode. Though I do like Tomori and would also fast track him.
Lingard needs to be dropped, he has no place in this team with his current form. Rashford also should probably be dropped but there’s no chance of that
Foden brought on in the 90th.. for a 4 minute runout... lol bet he is pleased he agreed to this.. this is going to be his career .
Lewandowski was playing in a team who controlled the game. Also, aside from dispatching a penalty under pressure, it's easy to forget that Kane should've had another in the first half if Son hadn't been extremely selfish and stupid and had squared it to him for a tap in. One thing I have been thinking though, is that with this Spurs project seemingly falling apart, chance of Poch going, some spine of the team members going, does anyone reckon Kane might follow? People talk about Foden lacking ambition but surely someone of Kane's quality and stock can't be happy playing his whole career somewhere he'll never win anything and that also seem set for an uncertain future now.
