Steffen starting. Morales isn't in the 18. I guess he's still injured. No Johnson in the squad for Gladbach.

Duesseldorf actually dominating early and go ahead after 6 minutes. Steffen hasn't been involved.

Great double (triple?) save by Steffen after Embolo breaks through alone.

Gladbach seems to have woken up, and now the game is settling into the normal one for Duesseldorf games...they're pinned in their own end and are just resorting to counters.

Hey...Steffen just booted the ball about 60 yards downfield when he got a back pass and was under pressure. If only he can transfer that to the USMNT...

He's not allowed to kick it that far.

Steffen with another great save on a point blank chance. He's been flawless so far through 55 minutes.

Every time I watch him play for anyone other than USMNT EGG, he's fantastic. Instinctive, decisive, on his game, and comfortable. Instead, Egg turns him into a neurotic mess, going against his skill set, and putting him in a position to be his least self. Ring a bell (Dest, Adams, McKennie, Ream until the most recent game, Sargent)?

Man, watching them it just look liked Steffen vs XI from the time I turned it on until the final whistle. Weird that a team that could only have just landed him could be so totally dependent upon him.

    Could it be FATE?

Not to derail, but that's a coach with a vision but no player assessment. Gotta let the horses run.

Btw, first long viewing of Z in the BL. Good game from him. His team, not so much.

Shocking, not shocking. Steffen will put up a lot of saves this season. Fortuna makes its own luck, and it is mostly bad.
