First time in a while I’m heading out to Bridgeview for a game. Thankfully there won’t be too many more opportunities to say that. (Wouldn’t mind the Open Cup games being played there tho).
Yeah, I don’t see why Soldier Field would care, but stranger things have happened and if they’re looking to drive a hard bargain restricting the Fire from playing elsewhere would play to that. I believe the buyout from SeatGeek had language that allowed them to play there for a few years after but don’t recall seeing reports on if that was for one offs or only if they couldn’t come to terms with SF.
Revenue. They may not want to lose tbe revenue. Again, I doubt that Soldier Field would have a problem with it, but a total restriction on MLS games played anywhere but Bridgeview was written into the Agreement. The team/league had to compensate Bridgeview for the All Star game and the Fire-Manchester United game back in the day. The Park District probably is less concerned about it. They allowed the Fire to play US Open games at other veneus previously.
The league still owes us for the time the ref let Graziani back on field in an attacking position, undefended, and he scored on us.
I’m going to wait until the stench of hauptman is completely out of the building to see a game in person. Next time I go to see the Fire I want it to be Joe’s vision not the garbage andi left behind as he scuttled off into the night. With that said, Fire tie 1-1.
