In the past, if u look at Orban’s situation. He waited for Dfb until he was 26 years old

And then there were many players who switched back to Dfb when they reached 21 or even before, then permanently capped by us:. Demirbay, Voloder, Nmecha and so on.

Provisionally capped isn’t an issue at all. What matters is where they play at senior level. If they are great strikers at pro level, I m sure Dfb will poach them too

Nekki's advice is solid. Please ignore posters you can't stomach in preference to filling the thread with playground stuff.

I find that the stretch of players born between 1989-1994 to be especially negative in terms of striker development in Germany. During that time, pretty much all prospects considered to be top of their age group in youth NTs flopped as they became pros. This goes from Fischer, Sukuta-Pasu, Mlapa, Shawn Parker, Thy, Yesil and Ducksch. Even Philipp Hofmann and Sebastian Polter had important roles in youth NTs when they were younger. While other guys like Lasogga have fizzled out due to injuries and other factors and are now irrelevant.

I find that the overall impact of these disappointments in player transitions towards pros have also caused Buli clubs to have an attitude towards bringing in foreign strikers instead of developing locally. Remember that someone like Mlapa was given chances at both Hoffenheim and Gladbach but never showed good enough improvement.

Only a handful of players actually made it as a legit pro on the Buli level like Volland, Uth, Füllkrug, Ginczek and Niederlechner. And none of them have established themselves as NT options yet. And Uth, Füllkrug and Ginczek have shown to be injury prone. Especially at moments of bad timing.

Elite strikers are exceptionally rare in the first place. That is why clubs pay wild amounts for them.

Germany currently have Reus & Sane as elite forwards and Werner as likely euro average

havertz will likely emerge as an elite forward.

How much more should we really expect?

I think Sane, Reus, Gnabry, Havertz, Werner and Brandt there is plenty of good international quality attacking talent available, it's about finding a system that plays to their strengths.

I would like to see the likes of Waldschmidt, Selke and Fullkrug all develop further this season, and Volland be given another chance, as it would be nice to have more variety, quality depth/options but even without that I think Germany should be fine for the Euros in that department.

    I forgot about Gnabry

I mean Germany also does not have an elite 6 or 8, yet we aren't crying over it

Also no left back for years

You could even argue that the current set of atrackers are overall on paper stronger as a group then what was available in WC 2014.

attackers are nice and all but still think we need a strikers and ones that fit how Germany play too. Still feel like our boys miss that killer striker instinct.

Scoring shouldn’t be the responsibility of one striker , but all the attackers have to be clinical

Look at Sancho and Sterling for England too, not
    Only Kane

We just need an attacker who can play back to goal and provides hold up play.

Kane drops so deep and plays like a midfielder. Some physicality to win duels in tight space will be nice too

Any prospects that could fulfill that role in the near future? Seems a lot of back to goal/target man types aren't developing atm.

I believe months ago there was a list put together here in this thread about the Top 5 possible striker selections for each major European nation. Would be nice to see an updated list.

France would still have a clear lead right now. While Poland punches above its weight. Portugal have some notable strikers on the rise too. Despite the inconsistency of their NT in recent years I think Italy have a decent selection of strikers as well.

not anytime soon, all the prospects are min 2022 WC but seem more realistic to be Euro 2024.

it's hard to gauge since you need players to play and do it in 1BL and not lower level, so we have to continue to be patient for the prospects and see how they continue to dev.

for now we have to rely on the current 1BL players and hope they buy us 3-5 years.

If u see Portugal have strikers like Joao Felix, then I would say Havertz is a striker too... Both are more SS/Inside forward type

Is Cristiano Ronaldo a centre forward too? I don’t see that actually

Portugal also have Rafael Leao who spent one season at Lille and was sold to AC Milan for 25 Mio already. Looks like one for the future.

Goncalo Paciencia looks poised to breakthrough at Frankfurt now that they've sold their strike core from last season and is already off to a strong start scoring frequently in BL and Europa qualifiers. Wouldn't be surprised if he gets NT consideration if he keeps this up.

Andre Silva could very well also have a resurgence at Frankfurt. Can't forget that at age 23 he already has 15 goals in 33 caps for their senior NT. A player born in the same year as someone like Davie Selke.

I’ve watched Andre Silva and don’t really like his game

Maybe he can score goals but he can’t play back to goal, no hold up play is a poacher type ... who I don’t rate in modern days

He doesn’t have a modern centre forward game

The Norwegian, Erling Braut Haland has been lighting it up at RB Salzburg at an early age, and looks like one of top rising strikers in Europe.

For comparison, him, Moise Kean and Fiete Arp are all born in 2000.

If Füllkrug can stay healthy and has a strong season then he could give some hope to Germany

I'd say Füllkrug is a better striker than Selke right now. Davie is a couple years younger but hasn't progressed in several seasons. Gotta see if he improves as the campaign moves along. Unfortunately I don't realistically see Löw consider either options for the EM though.
