There's also competition from Wrigley for the big summer stadium shows.

I believe there is a clause that allows us to use Seat Geek Stadium for three more years, if we can't find a place to play in 2020 (Solders Field).

That is what I was told in a phone call with my season ticket rep.

Yeah that's what they have said. Would be pretty damning on Nelly if they end up doing that after all of the hoopla of amending the lease.

In terms of "damning" that would only matter if he gave a crap.

    Is it now 'officially' official?

    This is encouraging:
The Fire will pay the agency, which owns Soldier Field, “a user fee and operating expenses for home games,” said Park District spokeswoman Michele Lemons. In addition, the district “will receive a facility fee for each attendee, as well as a share of revenue from parking, concessions and merchandise sales.”

This implies that there will be a revenue share for the Fire.
Depending on the money, this sounds much better than the previous Soldier Field agreement, when the Fire received either no or almost no revenue from parking or concessions.

The only specific provision given to the board was the proposed life of the lease — three years with options for eight more — starting with the 2020 season. Hopefully this means that we are looking for our own stadium (SSS) and our stay at Soldiers Field is only for three years.

How many parking spots does the Park district actually control around SF, and how do they handle dual events with Northerly? Seems like it can't be THAT much revenue. Got to be a lot less than the 10 bucks a car they get at Bridgeview now, if we're looking for a downside.

What I want to know is how they'll be handing suite and club access $.

I'm not sure of the actual # but it has to be fairly large. There is an indoor north garage and 2 huge lots south of the stadium that are controlled by the park district.

Still, I'm curious how many that is. There's also a sizable amount of stadium parking at McCormick, but that's run by McPier.

Yes, the suites can be an issue, but in Bridgeview they are usually pretty empty.

Helps explain why the village never got bang for their buck out of this deal. I wonder how the Second Star Club did considering how much it cost to build that thing.

The Fire are still a key component in the Reese site. The city and Park District are bending over backwards for the team to put them on solid ground to be the potential anchor.
Fire fans should rally behind a different location in the city for the casino and push thst one like crazy. As that may be the biggest obstacle to stadium.

Honestly, you could probably fit both on that site pretty comfortably depending on how they'd handle parking.

I just hate that transit to it kind of sucks, which honestly makes the need for a parking footprint to be a lot bigger.

You're right that it's big enough for both. I heard a few months back , that the casino news is what put the Reese development talks go on hold (in general not just Fire related)

While not ideal I wonder if a green line stop at like 29th would be fiscally the easiest thing to accomplish. It not only would be beneficial somewhat to the fire but it would also be a shot in the arm to the northern part of bronzeville.
The green line has zero stops between cermak and 35th. That's a pretty good distance to be lacking a stop

    Same with the redline.

Stops around 29th and dedicated shuttle buses to both.

Problems solved for relatively little money.

It'd make sense and help the area a lot. I lived down here just before Cermak opened up when the Green went all the way from Roosevelt to 35th.

A Casino/Stadium project would be kind of cool, to be honest.

    Casino and the Fire.

Yes, one sucks away your money and leaves you disappointed just about every time... and the other one is a casino.

“We are grateful to Mayor Landek and the residents of Bridgeview for our partnership,” Fire owner and chairman Andrew Hauptman said in a previous statement.
He's alive. How long has it been, hearing from him? It does say previous, so technically this could have been a quote from years ago.

“I do think the location of the venue matters, and it’s been challenging to get [to SeatGeek Stadium] for many fans,” he said at the time, adding, “we do not believe that moving to the city is a salve for all our issues. We have to do a better job of connecting to people where they live.”

NO shit. Start be not pissing off your hardcore fans.

I don't think you need a new Green Line stop if it ends up at Reese -- just run shuttles from Cermak

I'm going to make so much cash betting that the away team scores in stoppage time that they're going to have to close more schools.

Can someone explain that hotel that went up in the parking lot at Bridgeview?

Pete (was surprised when it was built and now the Fire are taking off)
