Week 22 (09/11 - 09/15), this is. See the watermark on NWSL's schedule tweet. Week 21 (09/06 - 09/08) was last week. Week 20 (08/31) ORL-WAS was during the FIFA window, and got postponed by Dorian (until 10/05), but it will still count as "Week 20" when it gets played.

Keystone Kops defending in the first half hour for Portland. A little bit more clinical finishing and it could've been 5-0 of 6-0 at the half hour mark. At the other end Horan is going to wake up in the middle of the night wondering how she missed that open header just before the half. I think Riley would rather take the bird in hand (3 points tonight vs Portland) than to start resting players to save them for the two in the bush (Saturday vs Orlando and Tuesday vs Houston). Especially with the games in hand on Portland and Chicago. And right at the start of the second half we're getting Technical Difficulties. Sweet.

15' 0-1 Dunn challenges Horan's clearance at 25m wide right, blocks it into a pop-up to circle top right touch. Mathias one-touch knockdown to arc top wide right, Ln.Williams one-touch backheel into Dunn's stride, throug box top right to 10m. Square pass left to 11m 4-right, McDonald dummies over ball. Debinha runs on unmarked through box top center to 12m 1/3 right, one-touch right instep shot just inside right post, past Franch frozen. 1171980755679027201 is not a valid tweet id 21' 0-2 Dunn-S.Mewis-Debinha ping a triangle to circle top mid-right. Backpass to 16m mid-right, Dunn runs on and shoots one-touch right instep across mouth over Franch dive-twisting backward, off left post 1/2 high, bounces down to 8m 6-left. Hinkle shoots left roundhouse, Carpenter deflects it square right to 6-top left post. Ln.Williams is thereat, flicks right outstep and deflects ball under Franch's left hand, into 2/5 right back low. .@TheNCCourage is rolling early as @lynnraenie doubles the lead.0-2 | #PORvNC pic.twitter.com/Rg6R4eNNgq— National Women’s Soccer League (@NWSL) September 12, 2019
The Weeds need a better defensive RB than Carpenter. She has been giving Hinkle WAY too much space for crosses.
23' 0-3 Dahlkemper simple pass to Mathias unmarked at circle top right touch. Mathias outruns Sinclair to 14m wide right, Klingenberg plays zone in mid-right lane, not stopping ball nor marking anybody. Ln.Williams lurks at 9m 1/4 left, with Carpenter and Reynolds sagging off her, and nobody between her and ball. Mathias bends a ground pass outswinging slightly to 8m 1/4 left, Ln.Williams steps left instep forward and blocks ball past Franch frozen, into 1/5 left back low. 57' 0-3 Yellow card on Klingenberg, for a foul on O'Sullivan. 58' 0-3 Yellow card on Horan, for a foul on Debinha. 59' 0-3 Portland subs in (1 of 3) #38 Simone Charley for #23 Margaret Purce. 61' 0-4 Dahlkemper passes to S.Mewis at circle tangent front left, three Thorns converge on her. S.Mewis dribbles away from Raso and Charley pincering her, draws Brynjarsdóttir, passes to Hinkle unmarked at 24m wide left. Hinkle touches to 15m wide left, Dunn accelerates from box top right post, past Menges and Klingenberg both only trotting. Hinkle bends a cross perfectly behind them but in front of Franch, it skips at 5m 1/3 right to 4m 1/4 right, Dunn lifts right instep and half-volleys off Franch's left glove chest-high, down into 1/4 right back low. Portland look ponderous of leg, and their attempts at swarming in midfield only sucks defenders away from other places, leaving NC's wide attackers free. And even when Portland's defenders are there, they're not there. .@crysdunn_19 makes it 4️⃣ for @TheNCCourage.0-4 | #PORvNC pic.twitter.com/086IBjRVWO— National Women’s Soccer League (@NWSL) September 12, 2019 68' 0-5 Dunn passes from circle back left to Debinha just behind circle center. Ln.Williams toes their line unmarked at 26m mid-left, Debinha rolls a pass to box top mid-left. Ln.Williams touches to 12m 4-left, Franch comes out to 6m left post, Ln.Williams shoots right instep over Franch's left shoulder, into 1/3 left back 1/2 high. Debinha cuts inside behind Ogle's momentum, roams to 27m center -- meanwhile, Hamilton front-cuts Carpenter caught ball-watching and not sprinting, opens a 5m lead through arc top mid-left. Debinha chips over Portland's high line to 10m 6-left, Reynolds must spin 180 and chase. Hamilton touches to 5m 6-left, opens hips and snipes right instep mini-lob across mouth, off right post 7/8 high, glances along right side netting into back right edge 3/5 high, as glum Franch can only stand and watch it spin in. Too fast, too precise, too much energy vs. tired legs (and minds). Irony: ball wraps around rear netting, rolls diagonally across goal and comes to rest against Franch's left outstep. .@khamilton17 gets into the scoring act. 0-6 | #PORvNC pic.twitter.com/B4YjqvLhbt— National Women’s Soccer League (@NWSL) September 12, 2019 90+2' (of +3') 0-6 Debinha to O'Reilly standing at arc top 1/4 right, O'Reilly scoops a shot off crossbar 1/4 right, bounces over. FT 0-6. That's North Carolina's scoring record -- wut? They never scored 6 before? Alas, it's not Portland's worst loss -- IIRC, they gave up 7 at home a few years ago.
Actually, it *is* Portland's worst loss ever. Their worst losses before this - one at home and one away - were 0-5 duds both in 2014, home vs WNY and away at Seattle. No games in league history were decided by more than six goals, and the only two six-goal victories in league history (before tonight) were 7-1 home wins for POR and WNY against KC and BOS, respectively.

It must be pretty cool to come into the opponent’s stadium and play in front of 17,000 murmuring fans. PT FC must stand for Pretty Tame Football Club. Anson Dorrance used to call Heath and Nogueira his Brazilians; I think Brazil will be calling Debinha their American.

26' 1-0 Huerta counters through 25m arc right, passes inside-out into Daly's stride at 15m box right -- and continues her own run through spot, compressing 3 ahead of her, while K.Mewis trails unmarked through box top center. Daly faces up Sauerbrunn at 9m box right, cuts inside past her, touches back all the way to box top mid-right -- while K.Mewis posts up at 7m 3-right in front of Scott. Huerta is in an offside position at 5m, begins walking backward. Daly ground cross to 7m right post misses K.Mewis, Corsie lunges self down and blocks it back to 11m 3-right -- and Huerta walks past her, onside again and still lurking behind Scott. K.Mewis intercepts, left backheel beats Scott tight against her back, leads Huerta into a perfect ccw turn.
