You never have to use the Gold site/page. Just use nbcsports.com/live - where you will find everything on NBC, NBCSN, CNBC and Gold.

Yeah. But then why do they even keep the Gold page functioning as it still does? And placing the Gold icon/link so prominently at the top of their main page, as they still do?

The whole thing is very clunky. It should be seamless.

Should have realized this workaround ages ago -- but stream NBCSN through your TV provider's site if possible. I'm on FIOS and this works perfectly

    https://tv.verizon.com/watch/play/channel/nbcsnhd

Zero hiccups as I stream B'mouth-MCFC. Could't get more than a couple minutes without freezing in the terrible NBC Sports authenticated stream page.

I didn't know you could watch anything through Verizon online, but I haven't had freezing issues with NBC Sports.

Just saw the price for ordering the Rugby WC on Gold: $230! I was expecting something around $70. Yikes!

Normally I would simply pass on that and just watch the most interesting matches at a pub (and probably end up spending $230 in the end, but at least get beer with that). However, with kick-off times in the range of 01:15 and 06:15 that isn't a great option either.

Shows how rugby in the US market is about 20 years behind soccer. And even with widespread streaming capability, may never come close to catching up. Just a reminder how good things are for the world soccer fan in the US now.

I also had huge sticker shock when I got the email with the price, if your willing to stay spoiler free, it sounds like all but two of the quarterfinals past the group stages will be shown on NBC/NBCSN.

I feel like this is still what's holding the cards for rugby in the US...

Tough to make money with widespread tv or streaming. Still a niche market to make some money in bars though (even with some rough time changes), or select few who will pay high price for in home subscription. Kind of a shame there's no impetus for showing all games live through NBCSN and maybe the Olympic channel - would be fun. If I want to watch anything I'll probably just VPN into ITV.

Kind of disappointed that they've gone with Spurs/Palace over the United and Chelsea games this weekend and don't fully understand why CNBC didn't make the cut as far as getting another 10am slot game.

Yeah, it's a full, interesting 3pm/10am slate. Wolves-Chelsea and Man Utd-Leicester are pretty big matches when you consider the top 6 aspirations for all 4 clubs. Though they all need to go to Gold at least 4 times this season, and NBC are probably pushing subscription sales as things heat up after the international coma break.

I can see why some are bummed.
But as a neutral the Spurs/Palace match is the most intriguing to me. Especially when looking at current the standings.

Palace won't be there at the end of the season. Leicester may and Wolves may and they are against the sides in that top 6 mix. Wolves home vs. Chelsea as well. Think NBC are putting too much stock into a derby in name only.

Maybe United's midweek games(easier to use 1 of the NBC Gold slots on those) are too high profile to shift to the Gold and they won't have as many 10am Saturday games due to being in Europa. I haven't looked at it too closely.

I know looking at the big picture and prognosticating the season in our heads things will look different later on.

But currently I am interested in seeing if Palace can keep up the good results.
And Spurs have a very entertaining team with marquee players.

They just had a relatively soft set of fixtures to start the season. One would've expected them to be on about 7 points after 4 games before the season started IMO. The other 2 seem like more evenly-contested matchups on paper and also involve more attack-minded teams, but as implied by others, NBC isn't necessarily putting the most intriguing ones on SN.

Without spoiling anything I will have to disagree with the expectations. Especially when looking at one of their wins on the schedule.

Only notable bits here are the Sunday non-NBCSN matches going to Gold instead of CNBC

Most weeks CNBC hasn't had a game. There are more games on Sundays after EL games, but the six start times from Friday through Sunday is normal.

I was away all weekend. There were some interesting matches. It would've been nice if NBC had aired their MOTD show(s).

You can probably forget about getting MOTD as long as the Rugby World Cup is going.
