The bizarre thing is, he’s not coaching like he did with the Crew. He’s changed completely, bizarrely. Crew Gregg didn’t thrill me as a hire, but he didn’t terrify me either. This guy is retarded.
Is this actually true? It feels like that fake quote from one of the 99ers that everyone on bigsoccer believed.

The spine of the team included Trapp and Zardes. Man oh man, why?

The only bright spot I saw was that Morales actually looks like he gives a shit in the middle. He fought and scrapped for things and wasn’t afraid to throw blows. Otherwise miserable.

I was watching at a loud bar and I didn’t ever read the starting line up, so I didn’t know that Trapp played until he was interviewed at the end o the game.

Also Pulisic should have taken the PK, did he turn it down?

He apparently picked up the ball and gave it to Sargent.

a couple of notes after reading:

    - i completely disagree that we need an alymeda. hes a fantastic manager, but hes not only a "system" coach, its an exceedingly complicated system. systems in international soccer are like political gerrymandering- voters should choose their representatives, politicians shouldnt choose their constituency. your player pool should dictate the tactics/setup- not the other way around. thats how you end up with tyler adams, rb.

theres no manager in the world who could have us play out of the back successfully. brooks, miazga and long are acceptable-plus passers (even ignoring that passing is only part of playing out of the back) but steffen is not. so unless you want a pretty steep drop in the qualify of actual goalkeeping we are simply not equipped to do it. berhalter not only refuses to accept those limitations, he dictates we play directly into them.

we need a chris coleman/roberto martinez type who doesnt do a lot more than pick the best team and send them out in a simple setup. whats more likely to actually win games- let pulisic simply be better than his panamanian counterpart, or using/weakening 3 other positions to accomodate what is already an advantage?

and it cant be an american because apparently theres no american manager alive who doesnt believe michael bradley is still a viable player to build your team around. i wish there was, but theres not.

    - i completely agree with those saying i dont blame the players for our idiotic managment. look, the players are as good/bad as they are but steffen isnt sending balls straight up the middle to attackers anywhere but the national team. have you ever seen mckennie play a ball through traffic to a keeper with shalke? how about under from berhalter?

do you really want to make the argument these guys become stupider, worse players out of thin freaking air in international play? you want to make the case that maybe they arent up to this level...meaning concacaf? as opposed to the bundisliga (where again- they absolutely are not horrible and utterly stupid players). at what point do you recognize their poor play is due not to their shortcomings as players, but following their managers instructions?

Also why did Dest come out?

    Why didn’t Brooks start?

Why did we ruin Miles’ confidence by putting Him in this game?

I’ve been watching this team since I went to the Gold Cup Final with my dad in 1997 and I’ve never been closer to giving up on this team.

That’s fine. But a myriad of other mistakes make me sick.

At least Morales looked like he gave a shit. We were roughly even until the first round of subs came in.

Yeah. This has gotta be on Berhalter. Too many good players out there, even with Trapp and Zardes dragging them down. Berhalter is just not a good coach for a national team. I do not see him improving given his stubbornness and misplaced player favoritism.

If that’s what you got out of the game, you watched it drunk. Or not at all.

It’s hilarious to me the massive. Massive confirmation bias going.

This isn’t me saying those guys were good. This is me saying if those are the two guys you call out, you don’t know what the ******** you’re talking about.

Mental illness showing. We had lots of possession in the final third but had no attacking presence because Zardes can’t do anything creative on offensive other than his lucky garbage game.

Honestly I watched the game with the sound off and didn’t even realize Trapp was playing until the post game interview.

You are joking, right? The starting lineup was the equivalent of 9 players. Are you really trying to defend that sh!tshow? Or are you drunk now?

JK actually called the right players and put them into positions to succeed. His ideas often failed, but when he needed results, he used simple, effective systems that built around our best players.

Berhalter can't even do that. For all JK's lack of MLS platitudes, and his talk of the USA not being able to compete with the best teams at the World Cup, at least he got results more often than not.

Berhalter says our talent is good. Calls in trash players and his Columbus scrubs. Puts players into unfamiliar positions so that they will fail. And then says it's his "system", and that it's raining when we're being pissed on.
