So do I. Kinda sad isn't it?

At least that game in France was inspiring.

Doesn’t stop him from calling up Bradley, Trapp, and Gonzalez.

I have zero interest in that game.

More of the same, we'll get an even worse beating. The only player Uruguay might have to defend will be back in London.

I don't think Berhalter can accept the gulf between some of the MLS quality players and the international quality he's playing against. We have some players might not beat these teams regularly but can play effective styles they are comfortable with. But it's a moot point unless changes are made. He'll continue to dig holes with his tactics till the cows come home.

Y’all could always quit being fans of the team. Get a grip - these are just friendlies. If you are only a fan when we are winning - are you really a fan?

Seriously... wading through this and trying to glean things from the match is insufferable.

It’s not Greggs fault he looks like a total lightweight for Chelsea. He should improve - but he’s not there yet.

Youth national teamers can do those things. Imo, the Senior team is a cycle away.

More importantly, there is nothing wrong with being a defend and counter team. Play to your strengths.

LMAO...seriously....if I wasn't a fan, I would turn off the damn laptop and go sleep instead of arguing senselessly on these forums.

It's not "just a friendly", it has been repeated tactical mistakes, roster choices, starting line ups, in game adjustments, etc. Our team has been playing terrible under 3G. That is a fact you can't deny.

Just don't get how what he sees, and what EVERYBODY else sees is so different.

I do not know what it was called but in watching some Euro matches over the last few years I saw a, what I will call, flexible bunker. That is teams would press but as soon as the press was beaten at least 8-9 players dropped into a bunker and if they were under pressure they fouled or just put the ball into the cheap seats. We have the players and speed and endurance to play that style and I think we could win with it. That is actually what I meant by bunkering.

We only drop into a deep bunker when the other team is in complete control and in our half.

Space is the friend of attacking soccer and we should make every effort to take the space from the other team's attack.

BTW: I am not sure that we have any defenders or keepers that are good enough passers and receivers of the ball to play any other style. In ranking the foot skills of our back five on a level of one to ten I would give them a two or maybe a three. I have an eleven year old neighbor that can out pass and receive any defender we have played lately.

Fortunately every qualifier isn't against Mexico. They're just on another level compared to us right now, and that includes the fan darlings on the U.S. team.

Nah, he's coaching Gimnasia now. Which even though they have 0 points and are last in the league, is a far more appealing job than ours.

    Priceless.
Leicester city had a version of what you are talking about when they won the league, but Rain Man, their coach, has 45 years of experience and a philosophy and coaching style that dictates the ball moves from one end of the pitch to the other in 2 passes and takes 2 seconds or less. He would practice this tirelessly for a year.

That kind of coordinated press, bunker, attack takes time, focus and experience to pull off.

Basically three things Beerholder does not have.

But I hear you. Long ball to McHeader, knock down to on rushing striker or midfielder, goes wide for the cross of takes the shot...not rocket science and not really soccer either, just more fluid set piece theater.

At least we've finally laid to rest that perplexing hypothetical: "Hey, do you think you can win against a good team with no ACM, no holding midfielder AND no deeply play maker?" Glad to know that conundrum is settled...

I personally don't care about forcing the "pass through the press" in a friendly - who cares if it goes awry a few times.

The bigger question is - why do we have no one playing in any positions to do something with the ball if we do, in fact, break the press? That's an odd bit of business.

    Berhalter has never won anything.

Offside Trapp needs to go. All he does on the field is point in different directions.

It's not just one friendly, though. It has been years of incompetence, regardless of the coach. The problem is not only this bozo of a coach, but also the federation who hired him.

How much longer is this going to go on? Why can't these people admit that they have failed and just resign?

Based on those words, Berhalter should resign immediately or be fired by the federation. That is completely unacceptable coming from the coach.
