Except it’s extremely clear that his teammates are missing his runs. He’s made some really good ones and either the pass to him is misplaced(Barkley) or they don’t see him at all. This is his best game in the Prem so far.
Besides that last run, it seems CP is playing a bit timid/conservative. It seems like he's afraid to dribble, run with the ball, takes on 2/3 defenders and open up spaces for other players. Really missing his highlight runs.
They have got him the ball more in the final third and instantly look more dangerous. He’s been a part of every dangerous chance.
I think Puli is having a good half, always a threat with the ball. Mount has been almost invisible though. Sheffield looks like relegation fodder, though, and Chelsea like a mid-table team.
IMO Pulisic and Chelsea looked better in preseason with Pulisic at LW and Mount central. Moving both to accommodate Barkley hopefully is short term until Pedro is back.
One thing I’ve noticed from CP this year is he stays on his feet more. He’s much better at riding challenges, which he will need in this league.
Better in attack, but shredded apart defensively with Mount in the middle. He lacks the positional discipline to play in the middle at this point in his career w/o hurting the team overall.
Note that he and the team started looking better when his teammates saw his runs, everything started turning to gold.
After watching the first half, many people are saying, “Pulisic (and Mount) needs to be more involved”. I disagree with such commentary. While watching the first ten minutes, it looked like Pulisic’s teammates didn’t want to give him the ball. They saw his runs; they saw him beckoning in open space.
He misses teammates’ runs too sometimes. This whole YA thing about “why don’t they pass to him” is really exhaustingly stupid.
Zouma must have personal problems. No one can be so distracted with no reason. And he used to be a decent defender.
