Atlanta is thriving in the 352/343 again. Toronto can't make the 4 man back line work either. They are a 352 team but refuse to play it except for spells in a game. I wonder what Leipzig will do this year with their new manager when Adams is playing. He seemed to enjoy the 352 last year.

We play a kind of hybrid 343 at national level (when Ream is at "left back" and actually playing like a lcb) but Egg doesn't seem fully committed.

Somebody take Alexandra Ocasio Cortez to an LAFC game and tell her we want something similar in Bronx-Queens district she represents because NY City is a Podunk town with no soul.

I just saw Keaton Parks win a header with a Red Bull shortie trying in vain to jump high enough to compete.

You don't know how happy that made me.

If only he had hit it directly to the next teammates foot ....

Long Island City would be a great spot for a NYCFC stadium.

I've somehow been to the new Yankee Stadium 4 times and never seen a baseball game there (2 college football games, a Union-NYCFC game, and a stadium tour). Cool place but bizarre for soccer/American football.

Keep winning those headers, Keaton Parks ....

At top speed, he's actually pretty fast.

I thought Parks looked pretty good for NYC. He seemed to be playing as their deepest midfielder. I wouldn't say he's a strong tackler, but his long legs allow him to stick a foot in and break up his fair shares of plays. He also did well passing, keeping it quick and simple, finding guys like Mitrita and Moralez, who could take off with the ball. He did miss an absolute sitter of a header and the announcers said he also missed another good chance before I started watching, but all in all, I thought NYC looked like a well-oiled machine, with Parks as an important cog.

On the flip side, RBNY looked pretty dire and were lucky to not lose by more. I wouldn't say Long was dire, but he also didn't look international quality. But it's hard to put too much on a CB when his midfield is getting overrun for the most part.

Altidore with an assist, Toronto up 2-1 on Montreal. Was pretty pedestrian in the 1st half but really sparked Toronto in the 2nd half.

is it the best argument when you show stats from a good performance immediately followed by a tweet noting what an outlier it is?

They mentioned on ESPN Friday that Diego Chara got his US Citizenship. Per Wikipedia, Chara has 2 caps for Colombia. Perhaps they were in friendlies. Might be worth a callup if eligible.

I've heard issues with Gutman's defense, and today's performance are reinforcing them. Not fleet of foot without the anticipation to make up for it much from what I've seen. He's getting skinned. Big reason why Cincy are down 3-0 in the first half against a pedestrian opponent.

His passing kills haven't lived up to the hype, although I don't doubt he may well be good in that department. Even if he is does that a viable USNT FB candidate make? He ain't even that young.

This is another example of Cincy's foolish strategy. They hear a loose association with a club in any European league that's not terrible and they gotta get a hold of the guy thinking if he's not up to snuff for them maybe he will be for Cincy. That's even for guys who are loanees that don't fit their style like Gutman. Just a monumentally poorly run club right now.

Always liked how he played. At least one of his 2 caps was a friendly against Peru so I'm assuming the other one was as well. He'd be 36 next World Cup but hell that's in his prime in Italian years.

Zardes has 3 to 4 games a year to keep himself in the pool. But he was probably getting a call up before this game.

Hollingshead with a nice assist on a left-footed cross...should get a look in the current US setup, I would think?

4-0 FCD now. That (counter)attack was started by the defensive read and pick by Hollingshead. His motor has been phenomenal. The occasional flaw but mostly positive for FCD. He's got a game high five dribbles, smooth evading pressure, key blocks, overlapping runs, and the peach of an assist.
