19 years old keeper Joakim Milli from Montreal with an Italian passport just signed a 1st team contract with Leece. Leece just promoted to Serie A this year.
Historic result for @ForgeFCHamilton! 🇨🇦 They are the first @CPLSoccer side to make it to the Round of 16 of a #Concacaf competition! #SCL2019 pic.twitter.com/cEbDbJCEb1— Concacaf (@Concacaf) August 9, 2019 Next opponent are Olimpia of Honduras in CONCACAF League Quarterfinals!!! What a year for the Canadian Premier League!!! I always felt that #CanPL would become the third best league in CONCACAF within 5 years. I’ve seen no evidence to suggest otherwise so far.— Duane Rollins (@24thminute) August 9, 2019
Love the over-reaction in Mexico to the loss against Canada. This is the U15 level folks Bless their hearts. "Canadians celebrate justly, 2-0!...And Mexico returns home empty handed!...With what's happened with the U20s, the U22s, and the U15s, OPEN YOUR EYES DIRECTORS OF THE MEXICAN FEDERATION! Here's an interesting prospect for Canada. I was doing a deep dive for US-eligible prospects for college soccer and came across this one, Trevor Martineau of Mercer University Bears. He was born in 2000, so still just age 18 or 19. Born in Montreal and spent some of his childhood there, before moving to Texas and developing in the setup of Solar SC. Dual citizen of Canada and US, according to the USSDA website. He's a 6-foot-4 #9 who was named preseason Third Team All-American by College Soccer News, just one of three rising sophomores in the United States to be named to any of the All-American teams. As a freshman he was already the SoCon Player of the Year, leading the conference in goals and also third in assists. He fits the profile of someone who probably should be called up to Canada U23's next camp, and who the US also should keep tabs on. http://solr.ussoccerda.com/sam/teams/index.php?team=1654272&player=144783121 https://mercerbears.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=7033 https://collegesoccernews.com/index...e-soccer-news-2019-preseason-all-america-tesm
Looks like Cyle Larin loan to Belgium Juliper League was exactly what he needed. Solid game for Larin, team wins 3-1, drew the penalty on the first, set up the second and came out in extra time https://t.co/3laCIxXa0f— Canucks Abroad (@Canucks_Abroad) August 19, 2019 Jonathan David already have 2 goals and 2 assists in 4 games with Gent. It`s fantastic that he now has an opportunity to play at this level, at home. This is why the league is strong and will be stronger despite expansion. There's lots of very good talent that simply have no opportunities and/or nowhere to play. "Saskatchewan Selects", a team made of U23 soccer players from the province defeat TFC II last month. The game was organized by the future owner of the CPL team in Saskatoon to test the market
This initiative will have a drastic effect on our U teams. That's valuable pro minutes tha didn't exist for those young players. Go to the States, fit in, and shine. That's the old template. Damn, I wish I could make the game in Toronto, but it's midweek and therefore out of the question. Nice one on the updates.
