Given the timing, it must be a bad situation.

At this point, I have only Georgia Southern open. Is that correct? If so, 38 head coach positions turned over this year.

Have to say I did not expect this one. Very curious why this change occurred and with no announcement from SFU and what has happened to Brenda. Was it a Visa issue?? She did pretty well there considering resources and location of SFU. Is this hire an upgrade? It's a small, small town on a random hilltop in PA with only 1700 undergrads. They call it a "Mountain Hamlet" on their website. The marketing at these schools is crazy.... my son got a visit card in the mail from a school with 2 beach photos on it. School is 35 miles from the beach!

One individual, responding to a story on her dismissal, suggested that there were player/parent complaints about bullying behavior by the coach, and another said that all the players were interviewed by an attorney(s). Another reader argued that bullying would have been justification for a "with cause" sacking when in fact she was fired "without cause." Who knows---there were obviously concerns. She did have a good one-year record, however....

Rumor has it a bunch of people turned Georgia Southern down, so the assistant gets the interim title for the season.

If I'm not mistaken, all of the head coaching positions now are filled for the 2019 season. Here's some info related to turnover and so on. In addition to the "turned over" positions, there are 3 new teams and thus 3 new head coaches.

In the m/f column, these are in addition to the numbers in the other columns.

So, slightly over 10% turnover from 2018 to 2019.

What are the new teams this year? Is it North Alabama, California Baptist, and Merrimack?

As an aside, I think that Bellarmine, Dixie State, and UCSD join the ranks of DI next year.

This year's new teams are Merrimack, SIU Carbondale, and St. Francis Brooklyn. (North Alabama and Cal Baptist came in last year.)

Coming in next year, like you, I have Bellarmine, Dixie State, and UCSD.

Being from, and in San Diego, I heard that the transition to D1 completes in '24, but I really have no clue the specifics of how transition works. Certain number of teams at a college per year?

P5 and next 5 assistants made inquires but couldn’t deal with the pay cut for the first year. Some would of left upwards of $30,000 on the table to take the HC job there. Just doesn’t make sense.

Poor grades? I read that Utah-based Dixie State has a 100 percent acceptance rate! Just apply and you're in! Money an issue? Out of state tuition and fees totals about $14 K (2017).

The campus isn't the greatest. They have some improvements to do. Their location in Southern Utah is pretty cool for the outdoorsy types, though, and their new coach is the real deal.
