His behavior is still an issue, but at least I think he has the competitive aspect and that can take you a long way. Where would Dempsey be without his attitude?

Edit: not saying Dempsey ever spit on a player but he had sharp elbows and punched a teammate (I know...it was Joey Franchino!)

Edit #2: Franchino is probably also a good example of a player that benefitted greatly from his competitive edge.

Yeah, but it really doesn’t matter much to me. I’m just trying to understand the connection, if any. There is certainly some bias on here, which is fine. I’m just trying to make sure I can weed through some of it when taking about specific players.

Busio was matched up with a slow-footed CB in Shane O'Neill on the left wing for about 45 minutes, and I don't think he even attempted to take him on once. Looked for a back pass against minor pressure and didn't pick out any runners at any distance. And he's a mediocre at best ball-winner. Still waiting for him to do more than pop up and score the occasional fleeting opportunistic goal, and be 17, to be optimistic about his future.

Was hoping to see Leyva for Seattle but he’s on the bench. This game from a USYNT perspective is a bit disappointing compared to what I thought I might see.

Araujo and Efrain Alvarez starting for LA Galaxy. I kind of hesitate rooting for these two knowing they may not be playing for us.

Thought FC Dallas would start Servania but I’m sure we’ll see him come off the bench again.

Very early on but Ferreira showing some dribbling skill I haven't seen much since his youth days

Good idea. Let's put it all out on the table and reveal who we're formally affiliated with. You first, @bpet15 .

That pass he laid off to Barrios right now was nice

I didn't see last night's FCD-LAG so really can't comment on any performances of our young kids. But momma said there'd be days like that when you have an inexperienced coach and a young squad. And the team has now officially dropped out of the playoff spots. I want the Ferreira in midfield experiment to be over. Go back to a Pomykal/Acosta/Servania midfield please (or Cerrillo for Servania. Whatever). Why have we moved away from what was working?

Joey Franchino probably richly deserved the punch. Joey was a guy who didn’t mind going way over the line when it came to being dirty. He got away with it because, during the era he played in, refs were poor compared to today. Joey was able to have the appearance of a much better career than it really was. He got the reputation for being a “hard man” when he was really just a mediocre defender who’s form of panic was to foul you. He could never even come close to “hacking it” (pun intended) in today’s game.

It makes me respect Dempsey more for having punched him. Some guys only understand one kind of feedback. A guy like Joey Franchino won’t stop until he understands that you hit back and are willing to hurt him.

What are you on about? I didn't ask him to list his relationship with the kid. For all I know, he is just a fan that follows Roberts closely. No one needs to reveal to me who they are, that's not what I asked. I would have taken a simple, yes, there is a connection or no, there isn't a connection.

He is a very good poster and posts quite a bit of good content.

I thought Pomykal had a poor game, but Ferreira had a pretty good game from the midfield.

    Ha! :)
I'm nothing but an ardent and vociferous supporter of FCD and what they're trying to do. These days I have no connection to the club and live in Boston. In fact, a great majority of what I say is probably nonsense....................

I used to religiously go to academy games and be able to give scouting reports on youngsters before there was any streaming of games. I was a more useful human being to the community then.

They really should be rotating Pomykal given he's a player who runs his legs off during a game. Has to be sore for a couple days afterward at least.

He's tended to be really hot and cold (more hot, but still), and this may be the reason.

Really sad story and hoping he can find his way back. Kid had the world by the tail and then boom, he is done during the most important part of his career. It's an all too common story for elite athletes, the injury that kills your career. Hoping he is young enough to turn it around and get back to Europe some day.

Reminds me of Boobie Miles with Mojo Magic for the Texas natives. Had huge career ahead of him and torn knee ended it all.

By the time he got injured he wasn't a great prospect anymore. He had two unsuccessful loans to Scotland and Netherlands.

Why does Araujo keep playing at RW? How does it benefit him to play so far out of position on a consistent basis? Does anyone think he’s a player who could play for the NT at RW?

Yeah he looked very ineffective vs Dallas there. GBS is a good enough coach to see its a failure

Yup. Don’t want to complain too much about him getting PT, but it seems like poor development to toss him out there on the wing when that isn’t his skillset, a la Juergen and Danny Williams.

If LAG is going to trot him out on the wing I’d almost rather him start as a RB, 6, or CB with Los Dos the rest of the year.

It kinda reminds me of the old Dutch tactic of making your kids play out of position so they get more well rounded. I imagine that Te Kloese finds it more productive for Araujo to improve offensively right now.

They should’ve moved Ferreira to LW. That would’ve been the easiest solution to the lineup, IMO.

Pomykal needs a couple weeks off. He was ok tonight but looks gassed.

It is his first full playing season.
