Whether we get more spots will depend largely on how well the CPL teams perform. Beating Antigua is a first step but isn't going to do it. For Canada to get more spots, we need the CPL teams to repeatedly push really deep in the CL. That, and continued good performance by our CCL slot, will earn us more spots. Larson is well informed on Canadian soccer but he also works directly for the CPL. I'm sure he'll predict all sorts of good things happening for the CPL "eventually".
And more teams, didn't make sense to give more berth for such a small sample of teams. Growing the league is key. Performance wise, looks like they are on the right path...it will only get better from here. Yeah but he's still a massive MLS & TFC fans and keep tweeting about it. He used to troll CPL so he's as credible as an insider you can hope to get
They are also officially regulated by the (English) FA instead of the (Welsh) FAW since 2011, though that is due to issues regarding the FA wanting to be able to impose its rules on all clubs in its leagues rather than being related to UEFA competition.
The Welsh clubs play in the English cup competitions - and have qualified for European play that way. They can also qualify for Europe in league play, like the English clubs. Given the Canadian MLS teams have been been the most successful non-Mexican squad (with the CAN1 slot, currently number 4 in the CONCACAF Club Index behind only MEX1, MEX2, and MEX3) and have very good attendance, I don't see CONCACAF moving to change that.

Salary increase Designated players? Did Rodrigo Gattas just mention salary cap increases and designated players in @CPLsoccer? 👀https://t.co/uMvuViOh1b#CanPL— Northern Tribune (@northtribune) August 13, 2019
^ Do we have any idea what the salary cap is now? I've heard various rumours but I've never seen anything official.
They are keeping it quiet but I think it's around $1M, some less some around that. You have to think that Valour is right up there with Paolucci, Galan and Petrasso. Heard Halifax are spending against the cap too, Perea isn't cheap with his resume
I rode by their stadium last week, definitely nice location. Also throughout downtown their were signs about the Wanderers.
About the Impact of CPL on University soccer and recruitment Combine that with the fact that athletic awards (they don’t call them scholarships in 🇨🇦) are actually on par with 90% of soccer players get in NCAA should keep the vast majority of 🇨🇦s home — it may even start to attract some 🇺🇸 players since they’ll then be domestics in #CanPL— Duane Rollins (@24thminute) August 21, 2019 Soccer Today! That was funny Congrats.... It only took 10 years for you guys to have more than half the lineup 🇨🇦 for a 🇨🇦 team 😂 Credit to MDS; otherwise this would have never happened. For people that still don’t realize the importance of @CPLsoccer I don’t know what to say. @MLS held us back for YEARS! https://t.co/60fxsTf4hW— Nathan Ingham (@nateybird1) August 21, 2019

Lol and that makes it ok to have waited 10 years to see this? Every soccer fan in Canada credits the existance of the 3 teams for making CPL possible, still, the criticism is warranted, is far from being new either. To Ingham's credit, he does acknowledge that Dos Santos is the main reason why Vancouver is doing this. TFC started 0 Canadians last Saturday against Montreal whicg raised lots of questions. President is American, GM is American, coach is American...at some point, is it really the Canadians not being good enough in 2019 or something else? I'll play, let's say that Canadians aren't good enough, then TFC sucks at developing Canadians. Can't have it both ways, being grateful doesn't justify tolerating these kind of situations. Anyways, these kind of questions will be more frequent since you have teams like Forge FC beating Olimpia starting 10 Canadians. People aren't stupid and even casuals are realizing that something doesn't add up.
With limited 1st team minutes, in Canada. Fun fact, 2 Canadians were subbed in and TFC scored within 2 minutes both times. It's comical My criticism isn't aimed at MLS, unlike Ingham, it's specific to the 3 teams. Vancouver has changed thanks to MDS, good. Montreal will change thanks to Bernier, good. TFC must change.
News: @CPLCavalryFC goalkeeper Marco Carducci becomes the 1st #CanPL player to be named to the Canadian Men's National Team roster after being called up for the Concacaf Nations League 🇨🇦Info: https://t.co/8dNmPZL5fL pic.twitter.com/ynwUw8Ipqx— Canadian Premier League (@CPLsoccer) August 28, 2019
NH was just a training player rather than part of the official original roster or actual GC roster. Given the weakness in the backline, I would have picked another Cavalry player Zator instead.
Zator or Gasparatto should have been ahead of Straith. I think those call ups will come as as you said, the backline is vulnerable and there isn't much up and coming out there besides CPL This early for the league to be called upon is truly a huge accomplishment. So much for the Ottawa Fury arguing the league's level
Carducci the first #CanPL callup to #CanMNT but certainly won’t be the last, Herdman mentioned Tristan Borges and Ryan Telfer as players that were very much in the discussion for this camp on a media call today.— Mitchell Tierney (@mitchelltierney) August 28, 2019
I'd take Morgan, Guillard, or Godinho before those two but it is good to see more players entering the pipeline (with Borges and Telfer getting mentions behind admittedly deeper midfield and forward positions). The other thing with Straight is he gives us a fourth option at keeper.
Zator and Gasparatto are CB, not FB so not the same type. Amer Didic is also an excellent CB. I agree with ZBG being ahead and Morgan having earned a spot, I think Godhino will have to work hard to get call back. Is Liam Fraser really that much better than Tristan Borges or Noah Verhoeven? I have my doubts We're too deep up front for Telfer to be called in my opinion. Straith is a CB if I'm not mistaken. Carducci call up effectively means he got ahead of English Championship keeper Jayson Leutwilder as #3.
