Illinois hockey has tried to restrict clubs and now it is being sued because it is a monopoly or something like that.
The intentions were rock on but the problem was that it limited the amount of clubs and many of those clubs left started increasing costs and playing hardball with parents. Not a very well thought out plan but something to learn from.
So this Nido club looks like they are in Highland Park but now have a ton of teams in the YSSL in Huntley?? Well that's a ton for that area at least. What's the story there?
Who calls Elgin Sportsplex home? We played some Super Y matches there and the park is nice. Many of the fields are crowned though. I remember Sockers was going to expand out that direction and it fell through. One parent told me Kickers used to call the facility home and I know Pumas practice elsewhere.
Some Lifezone teams play there. Inferno were also running some stuff there and I think Alliance too. Pumas have the old Intrasport indoor complex and made an outdoor field there now that's their home base. Elgin Kickers dwindled and eventually merged with Campton. To Volks point those fields were so crowned you couldn't even see the kids on the bench from the parent side lol.
Our first game for Super Y we had the discussion about Kickers and what happened to them. They had some decent teams from what I recall. However I had no idea they folded into Campton. Odd thing was niether did the other parents who were at Campton before CSA. Yeah those fields were pretty bad. Surprised because the facility is nice.
It was like a half-merger from what I heard. Kickers were like a family business dad and kids. One son went to coach at Campton and took what he could with him. I think the dad went to Lifezone. Not sure if either are still there. Kickers used to be big in the YSSL and the family was a part of the leadership committee or some higher ups. Not sure what lead to them declining. https://www.kickersunited.net
Whoa. DA schedules came out. Either its a glitch or they're completely changing the boys U19s program. -Fire are confirmed out at U19. What a shame. -FCU play some teams from Midwest but also a bunch of Texas teams. -Sockers play some teams from Midwest but also a bunch of Southeast teams. -They've added a boys cup competition too. http://www.ussoccerda.com/sam/standings/regevent/index.php?containerId=MTE1ODQ4MjA=&partialGames=1 Thoughts?
Does this impact Sockers and FCU? Several clubs that have traditionally been among the USA’s most successful will be playing in the lower division. The DA's MLS clubs are all in the higher division.
Sockers are in the higher division; FCU lower. https://www.soccerwire.com/news/u-s-soccer-splits-boys-da-u-18-19-age-group-into-2-divisions/
I remember that club's name. My son's first year of competitive soccer, they were beating everyone around here (Memphis and the Mid-South) 6-0, 8-1 etc, and those little 9 year-old's thought they were hot stuff. Their coach (originally from St Louis), said, "No they're not." So for their one out-of-town tournament at that age he took them to a Scott Gallagher Tournament in the St Louis area, and a team called Stavaru gave them a 10-0 beatdown, Our boys were shocked, bless their little hearts, but ultimately if was probably good for them. This was April 2015 before the age change and 6v6. My son is an 06 (05-06 team at the time.)
Lots of coaches on the field at Eclipse North training. No clue who any of them were besides the DOC. Also some interesting bumper stickers out there. Oswego to Northbrook seems like a hike and a half
The 05 team was the one I referred to earlier that my son's team played. You could tell the Stavaru kids were disappointed and surprised to just win by a goal or two (whatever it was) against my son's team. And my son definitely took some pride in that close loss.
Heard that FCU DA Camp is being held at Stevens Point. Coach wanted an opportunity away from it all for the team to bond. Great idea!
They did the same thing last year, and maybe even the year before that. Agree that it is a good way to start preparing for the new season.
They only have one boys teams for Eclipse North and it is mainly Northbrook kids that used to play for Spartan FC. For the girls it seems like a few sources: 1. Northbrook kids that came back from FCU. 2. FCU players that wanted ECNL over DA or USYS. 3. ECNL “B” players from Oak Brook or some “A” players that live closer to NB. 4. Local players from other clubs that wanted ECNL
I'm told Sockers started pre-season this week. Notable absences were long-time staff ND and RC. Wonder what that's about?
