Aaron Long EPL offer turned down by New York Red Bulls was less than $3M - https://t.co/8aC7meaV4G #RBNY #MLS— Dylan Butler (@Dylan_Butler) July 20, 2019 Less than $3 million does not strike me as we think you are a starter money for a medium sized Premier League team.
https://www.skysports.com/football/...ed-chance-to-sign-new-york-red-bulls-defender Sky says he has a $5 million release clause, which strikes me as an unusual feature of an MLS contract.
Seems Pulisic is trying to rep him: https://foreverwestham.com/2019/07/...l-kick-themselves-if-they-dont-move-for-long/
Meh. I think Pulisic was asked about him and gave a generic quote (that’s the only quote he gives tbf)
Don't mind me, just passing through. West Ham want to sign New York Red Bulls and USA centre back Aaron Long but can’t complete a deal because he can't get a work permit at the moment. Long has £4m release clause and wants to play in the Premier League— Kaveh Solhekol (@SkyKaveh) July 26, 2019
So why not sign him and loan him back to RB for the rest of the season. Nations League should enable him to get a work permit before the winter window.
I guarantee that he doesn't have a "release clause" in the traditional sense. MLS contracts would not have those provisions.
https://sports.yahoo.com/report-permit-issues-hold-potential-193332137.html IMO, this shouldn't be in the academy section....cuz he aint going to play in any academy. but Long apparently has interest from West Ham, Marseille, Fiorentina, and Lyon
I am skeptical of any link of Fiorentina to an American — I think it’s just because of their new ownership.
Transfer rumors go here, just ‘cuz (1) they were really clogging up the main forum and (2) it helps draw interest and traffic over to this sub-forum. It was well debated at the time.
I’ve heard that a Ligue 1 team has now also entered the mix to acquire #USMNT & #RBNY defender Aaron Long. I’ve heard a $4 million offer— Brian Sciaretta (@BrianSciaretta) July 31, 2019
Is the expectation that Long leaves this window? Or a loan back to let him finish the season out and move in the Winter window
I think any buying team would be wise to see if they could get it at a price lower than the $5M, even if they were willing to actually pay that amount.
Long does NOT have a release clause in his contract. There have been release clauses in MLS contracts but they are extremely rare. The two I've heard about were Omar Gonalez's first big deal with the Galaxy and one for Brian McBride.
If it's anything other than British tabloids hearing "New York will sell him for $5 million" and transitioning that, without basis, into "Long has a $5 million release clause," I'd be shocked.
FFS, I hope you're kidding. Most of the post here assume that there is a $5M buyout that was negotiated!
People have to learn that British football transfer rumors are as valuable as the paper they're printed on, and no more. With like, two individual exceptions, they're all ********ing hacks.
