As the biggest Wijnaldum supporter there is, and a massive Liverpool supporter...yesterday was truly magical. :)

So I'll be tuning tin into todays PSV match. We obviously need both of them to qualify for Uefa co-efficiency points..

@Orange14, how many rounds do Ajax & PSV have to play to make the CL??

Replace the red jerseys with orange, and CL cup with Euro cup....

wow did PSV leave it until late. They should have had a PK before the Lammers goal on a hand ball in the box. PSV need to tighten things up and get an early goal in the return tie as the two away goals are big for Basel

I thought it was Luckassen falling asleep and leaving the Basel player in acre of spaces... and he didn't have the necessary speed to catch up. Bad goal to concede in the dying minute of first half. Prior to this, Basel had zero shot on goal, not even within the 5-10 feet of PSV net.

Even worse was the second Basel's goal. It was a harmless corner, and both Viergiever and Zoet managed to make a complete mess out of it. PSV defense was a massive disappointment. Van Bommel will have to get reinforcement soon!

Overall, what a great comeback!! Malen's finish was exquisite after a rather frustrating match for him. Bergwijn was the MoTM for me. He played almost like a second/shadow striker, not so much of a number 10. His pace was too hot to handle, and he did surprisingly well in sharing the ball around. Bruma impressed me as well. His ability to operate in tight spaces is a good addition to an otherwise PSV lackluster attack. Lozano didn't look okay, physically and mentally.

Van bommel needs to get rid of more players and bring in quality reinforcement in the midfield and CB. I was very suprised when they released Justin lonwijk as well. He is having a good pre season at utrecht.Rosario doesnt do it for me. He may come up with one or two vital blocks but overall he is average

Pereiro is off to Russia, ramselaar is also linked to derby county where cocu is trying to raid PSV players and its high time van bommel get rid of Hendrix as well. This will generate eough money for them to attrack quality players.

Van bommel has also announced that afellay will lead the side this season. Good to see lammers, Malen,Gakpo all getting game time. This will really give van bommel more depth up front. They just need to tie loose end in the midgield and CB which looks like a area of concern.

No good results for Dutch teams in Europa League today. Both Utrecht & AZ tie in Home against pretty mediocre teams from Bosnia & Sweden respectively. Man, This is just Bullshit. I mean, are really mid table teams in Sweden & Bosnia better or that Dutch teams just have a shitty mentality?!

^^ Everyone expects Ajax to keep winning matches and keeping the Dutch teams in Europe. The other teams don't want to do their share. I think the Swedish league has begun so they might be at an advantage. Disappointing results, especially for Utrecht which wants to have higher ambitions this season.

  12. Havenot those two countries already started their competition?
Anyway, both AZ and FC Utrecht are both still in preparation mode. So not in competition ready mode yet. Because of all those pre rounds these matches are scheduled on the most inappropriate time possible.

  13. Adding to my last post Ajax and PSV are even served worse as their opponents are tougher and the money at stake is so much higher.

I agree perhaps other teams being in competition mode gave them an edge, but also Dutch teams had an edge playing home. Not to mention that both teams, particularly AZ, have what many Dutch fans consider Oranje material talents, such as Stengs, Boadu, Koopminers, let alone experienced Dutch internationals such as Vlaar, Maher, etc. and both teams supposedly have good trainers in Slot & van den Brom.

  15. Did they play today, thursday? It was the hottest day ever in the Netherlands. Over 42 degrees Celsius.
When I was outside at 6 pm, I felt like a steak on a barbecue.

The probelm is this has been the case for so many years, and look where we are now.
Lesser leagues are ranked higher than Eredivisie by UEFA due to this attitude.
Russian, Ukrainian, Belgium Turkish, and even Austrian league, if it wasn't for Ajax last season.

Utrecht have themselve to be blamed. They could have easily won 4-1. Lonwijk and Venema both missed clear must goals.

The Central Referee looks like he might lose control of the match in the 2nd half.

If PSV don't sack van Bommel pretty soon they will be sorry. What an awful set of tactics he is using. Management is also to blame for selling Luuk de Jong and having no #9 on the team. PSV are now out of Europe
