Still confused on how he got the work permit. Did I miss where he has an eu passport. I was under the impression that the Scottish FA was not much less forgiving than the English FA.

Vice versa. It's always tougher in England.

No EU passport, but managed to get a work permit under the Scottish rules. Remember, Perry Kitchen got one.

To get a UK Work Permit for a non-EU Citizen

    1) You can get one automatically if you have the stated number of national team caps (based on ranking) or appearances in another major European League.

    2) Or go through an appeal process where you argue your resume and say you'd benefit the league. Then the board decides.

Polster went through the second path and won it. The boards in Scotland are much easier than in England.

As of now, Polster does not know when he will be ready for the Rangers’ first team as he is still not fully match fit. On Wednesday, Polster played his first reserve team match for Rangers.

“I don't know how much longer or what they have planned exactly but I've have been doing sessions in the morning and then running in the afternoon,” Polster said. “So I have been progressing with my fitness quite a bit and it has been going really well so far.”

I think it’s actually pretty impressive he went on trial after such a long injury gap and got a contract. He fits Berhalter’s false fullback skill-set.

Out of curiosity, what position has he been playing in reserve matches?

Not in the 18 for Rangers's FA Cup replay against Kilmarnock today.

Nice catch. If only Spector had got off the bench today we'd have had a trifecta.

BTW, Gers won 3-1 (scoring was already done when he came on) With Celtic's tie Gers still have a maths chance to win (but no realistic chance, tbh)

I'm still curious whether he's playing RB or CM.

They have a game against St. Joseph's from Gibraltar in the Europa League 1st Qualifying Round tomorrow.

He was playing RB v. Oxford. This behind Gers goal fan video shows him on the right, sometimes sliding central.

Gers won 5-0 btw. Tavernier replaced him after an hour or so

weird. I don't see the link in my post. Trying again. At about 11 in you see the "best" view of our boy, sliding central as the play goes deep. It's a fan cellphone from the seats, so there's not much to see. He's not in any of the highlight vids, except celebrating a goal with the team, that I could find.

Polster goes 90. Gers win 5-0 (9-0). On to next rounds. Polster reviews (both of them) decidedly mixed so far.
