I’m so freaking excited to see Pulisic play for Chelsea. I hope Lamps can help him elevate his game to the next level.
I cant think of a better coach for Puli. Havent watched English footie in a while. I'll have to think about it.
I pulled this post from thedukeofsoccer from the old thread because it's interesting: I hope you're right about all of these players. That being said, I think you're getting ahead of yourself. These players will have to 1. have a major league club want them to join (which looks to be true) 2. have MLS be willing to sell at a level that makes sense for the counterparty (no idea of this but how much would MLS/NYRB need to get to sell Long - didn't he just sign a three year deal?) 3. earn playing time Let's see if the first two happens and then see if they can make the field. Apparently, playing 50% of available minutes at mid-table B1 isn't good enough for the USMNT so the bar would have to be higher than that for these players, no? Expecting these guys to follow in the Adams path is a high bar.
Josh Sargent starting pre-season with a goal. I always appreciate how easy it is to pick out Sargent in Bremen social media posts. ⚽ @joshsargent pops up with a goal (what else is new) and the first team run out winners! 👌#werder pic.twitter.com/Zcn9JJWIMv— SV Werder Bremen EN (@werderbremen_en) July 17, 2019 After some running drills to finish, the boys can rest until the next session at 16:00 CEST 🥵#werder pic.twitter.com/ldrrRSoIK2— SV Werder Bremen EN (@werderbremen_en) July 17, 2019
Mix Diskerud named to the K-league all-star team for this game. Ya know, he's having a good season. I wonder HOW GOOD of a season he'd need to have to get a USMNT call. It looks like Bobby Wood might actually stay at Hamburg New Hamburg Coach Dieter Hecking on Bobby Wood ⤵️“What happened in the past doesn’t interest me. You can see that he’s looking for his chance. In practice he’s very robust, physically fit and lively. I hope he’ll be a benefit to the squad” #USMNT #OneGoal pic.twitter.com/B3w3v2uNJP— OneGoal (@OneGoalUS) July 16, 2019

According to Espn. Real Madrid and Ajax (still) interested in Alex Mendez. I hope he goes to Ajax because of their record of playing youth. That left foot is special.
Dest is better than Gloster at lb but we'd want him at rb, imo. I see Dest as our starting rb in Qatar if he can stay on his upward trajectory.
https://www.google.com/amp/s/weaint...ng-20m-from-fiorentina-for-matt-miazga-report Rumor of Miazga to Fiorentina. They value at 7-8 while Chelsea want 20. What’s really funny is they mention the owner wanting to target Trapp.
They arent thrilled but they like the "American Money" and they like that he talks a big game. Mentioned in the YA board but Fiorentina with Montella as coach is a good spot for Matt to develop. I also like the idea of Pomykal developing under Giampolo at Milan but that one is a bit trickier
It seems to always start with a love of 'American Money'. Very few do like the group at Liverpool. American owners tend to wear on the fanbase because it always goes the money route instead of the football route. I hope it works out though. Agree. Fiorentina could be a good spot for Matt.
Obviously a lot of us know about Dest, but if you don’t this is a good introduction https://www.theguardian.com/football/2019/jul/18/sergino-dest-usa-ajax-soccer?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other
The Liverpool group is the Red Sox, right? At least they are competent. Most of the American owners that go overseas seem to be leaches (Kroenke, Glazers) rather than the aggressive US Owners who care about winning.
I had no idea that Dest was getting a meaningful pre-season run-out right now (because unfortunately his thread is kind of hidden away in the Yanks Abroad forum). Is any other Ajax youth player getting minutes right now in their pre-season friendlies? I just looked at one of their recent lineups and he appeared to be the only non-first team player there. Unless he's been promoted to the first-team already (although wikipedia still has him with the youth team).
Well that doesn't even hold for MLS owners that are aggressive in other US sports (cough, cough Patriots, Kraft, Revs)
Is he aggressive? I wonder if he just lucked into Belichek. The NFL is weird -- with the harder cap, you simply don't need to spend. I was thinking more about owners like the Warriors, Mark Cuban, Ballmer, the Red Sox -- owners who invest not just in money but analytics and pursue every which way to win.
I think it depends on the league too. The Americans who get involved in Italy seem to want to build things up more from the ground up.
