When: Thursday the 18th at 8:00pm Where: Nippert Stadium, Cincinnati TV: ESPN (!) If there's ever a road match we should win this is the one (but I've said this before and been wrong).Cincinnati should be on a high after last weekend's win, and we are definitely on a low after scratching out a tie against a shorthanded Revs side. Acosta is out unless he is successful in getting his second game suspension overturned. Rodriguez was not Acosta last Friday, but at least he didn't sulk. Rooney missed a sitter (again), but was all over the field coaching and delivering excellent free kicks/corners. Pines was very good but a bit tentative, I thought, and he deferred too much to the veterans. He should follow his instincts more often, IMO. Stieber didn't make the bench again, but I would like to see him on the pitch. His spot was taken by Griffin Yow. I think we need to see Moreno and Canouse play more of a role in the attack; otherwise, we are pretty thin going forward. There is danger in the squad overlooking this match and concentrating on our next opponent, Atlanta. There are no easy matches for this United squad!
Like Alan Kelly ? (ICYMI, he singlehandedly botched the NYCFC/Red Bulls game last weekend.) PS. VAR sucks.
I couldn't believe what I was I was watching when that happened. Hours and now days later, I'm still surprised by how botched that was. I wasn't going to the Ligue 1 matches at Audi Field, but it was only now that I realized some are happening at the same time as United's.
We’ve got to find a way to get 3 points here. It’s a must against a team this bad, even on the road. Mr. Rooney needs to be more clinical, everyone needs to be aggressive into the space in front of them and pressure the Cincy defenders rather than pull balls back on the breakout. 2-0 ⚫️
It's not as humid in Ohio, right? Because that might be the excuse DCU has for being so lethargic on the pitch lately. They need to get up on the front foot and play aggressive - when we did that late last year / early this year, we were hard to defend. Lollygagging around looking for the perfect pass to free someone is not cutting it. Rooney has to remember he's the team's only forward and stop playing around in midfield - stretch a defense, occupy a defender; do something - 'cause you're looking old and tired here in 2019. The place should be packed and half the folks are there to see you, so give them something to remember (as you break their tiny hearts). DC - 2 Random Ohio city - 1 PS: So glad the game is on TV again, that's two in a row and the second of 3 this month
The Wall Street Journal has a story today about the $250 M new stadium Cincinnati is building. It's wrap-around roof will protect all against rain and snow. I hope our cheap owners subscribe.
If you intend to put on roofing, you're going to do that as part of the initial build. It's way more expensive and more difficult to add it on later. So since our caretakers did not do that initially, I have never really believed they had any intention to ever do so - regardless of their empty promises year after year of even filling any of the slots they built but left empty.
The FC Cincinnati fans are all geared up for this one. We actually have 2 wins in a row. Players will be coming into this match with some confidence and the crowd should be energized. FCC 2 DCU 1
I guess since you guys are all complete novices to the sport, you have never heard of the wrathful and cruel soccer gods.
Dude, leave this guy alone. In 3 years they'll have a stadium that makes ours look like an outhouse and more DPs than a bad porno while we send Rooney off into retirement and wave goodbye to all the EPL bros who filled our stadium and left our ownership with a false sense of it being OK to f--k over the long standing STMs. And I just don't wanna hear their shit come then.
Goff's suggested lineup is identical to the lineup for the Revolution match, with Pines joining Birnbaum, Brillant, Mora and Jara as "defenders" (Jara being more of a wingback). I would drop Brillant in favor of another true midfielder who would assist in the attack and allow Rooney to roam closer to the goal. My extra midfielder choice is Steiber, but I doubt he even travelled. Perhaps young Yow, or even Amerikwa. FWIW, there's a report that Sevilla is interested in Acosta.
Leave it to the geniuses at ESPN to black out the stream on ESPN+ because the show is being broadcast nationally on ESPN.
Obviously, we can't finish against a not-so-good expansion team. However, I am enjoying the extended interview with Rose Lavelle.
