I imagine that Sonora mainly used English to communicate with his teammates in Germany

First sub off the bench in a 1 - 0 win over Colón in the Copa Sudamericana.

Gee, I guess it’s more like tongue in cheek shorthand for, “I hope this eighteen year old playing in the Argie first division is on someone’s radar in the US because, and it may never happen, he could blow up big and it will be too late for our fed.”

Matko DNP today as Argentinos go down on penalties to Colón in the R16. How often are teams tied on aggregate with an away goal each?

I wouldn't put Matko in the same category, the former 2 seem to be sour grapes

If anything, the USA is the "other team being flirted with" in his situation

sour grapes would be if they weren't good enough....from what I've seen of araujo on LAG he seems more than capable of making it off the benhc at a u20 WC....

regardless, it is merely the fact that good players are not being incorporated....the individual reasons don't change my disappointment.

Well yeah he should've played at the u20 WC, but if he is threatening switching because he wants a USMNT call up (I'd call him up) then hes certainly being a brat. Now with all that said, Kreis should be in contact for Olympic qualifying

I know this isn’t the popular opinion, but I’m ok with it. I don’t want Berhalter to be tripping over himself texting 17 year olds. Has anybody watched soccer for 20-30 years and seen how many great 17 year olds turn into effective international players or am I the only one watching 1 out of 50 make it.

    well....

    1. he already said he wants to play for the USA and has played for the youth teams if i am not mistaken

    2. he's already playing first division soccer in argentina and playing the the #10 for an argentina youth team is pretty good indicator that he has a higher chance of 1 in 50 of being a good international player at a HUGE POSITION of NEED for the usmnt. how many #10s does the usmnt even have? he's likely already better than players like mihailovic and roldan at creative mid, imo...just based on his resume.....

    3. age is just a number. i'm sure ggg and ussf see it the same way...they look at a player's age and go from there. which is DUMB in soccer.....pulisic would be a bench player in MLS ...and definitely wouldnt be where he is now but for a progressive and smart club like BVB that acutally plays its teens....if he never went to europe just based on how ageist soccer is in the usa....he'd be getting the same "well he's just 20 lets wait and see how he develops" mumbo jumbo

I completely disagree about Pulisic being a bench player in the MLS. There are plenty of teens who start in the MLS.

Also in a mere 30 seconds I found 36 players who have started or played meaningful minutes just this season alone. If you think any one of them are better than Pulisic than Chelsea scouted the wrong team and should have went after damn near every single MLS team.

I get some may not value Pulisic as highly as others but I just flat out disagree that he would have been a bench warmer. There are freaking 16 year olds getting starts now. Busio has some and 17 year old Bassett has had some starts.

*he woulda been a bench player in MLS for way longer than he was at BVB

by now he woulda broken through as a starter but you never know.....he would definitely not be on chelsea for 70m, if at all....

BVB guy today was quoted in espn article: we don't buy stars we make them...it is true....

MLS doesn't make stars...they never have made 1 yet
