As successful applicants are paying after notification rather than before notification things will have to run differently this time. Will they send emails to all successful applicants at once? Probably not. So there will be much wailing on here when the first people start saying they've been successful. It will surely affect the timeline also. I'd expect emails to start going out earlier this time. I hope they have enough server resources to deal with people trying to pay!
I also wonder what happens if your application is partially successful. Do you get offered other matches which you were told you didn't get if others don't pay? So many unknowns here...
I'm thinking of starting a consulting firm to advise them on how to prevent multiple applications. The key is to not be stupid! Requiring a unique CC numbers on submission of the application would be an easy way to reduce 80% of the multiple applications. They could easily verify phone numbers using an SMS, and force the phone number to be unique as well. 99% of the multiple apps would be gone. All emails require a SMS confirmation, they could easily do the same. Few people have multiple phone numbers and credit cards. With the current system, you've got to make a bunch of apps just to get the tickets you want. Total time waste.
I agree with this objective but most people do have several credit cards so it still wouldn’t limit applications to one per person. Plus you could also use the CC of the person(s) you’re going with. Say 3 CCs per person times 4 tickets per match= 12 applications ( with unique CC numbers). But yeah ... at least that would make it a bit more difficult to cheat.
The real big players ( I know one) they have multiple CCs multiple phones BOTs and all sorts of help in making applications. These are the guys who need to be stopped not the guy down the road looking to get to a match. We don't really know what they are using at the moment tho Cookies tell a lot about IP addresses and I'm sure there are other serious SW they use to detect what they can.
Damn. Now I’m nervous with people saying they made multiple fake applications. Only have 3 people in my family applying. Me wife and sister. Then again we are just going for a couple group games in cat 2.
Some people buy 100s of lottery tickets every week and never win. Most winners buy 1 ticket. It's all just down to luck in the end. And I wish you GOOD LUCK!!!
Went for Munich/Rome QFs, both London SFs and Final. All Cat 1. 4 x tickets for each, over €10,000 in total. So relieved the money isn't coming straight out, though I doubt we will get all of them!
I went for CAT1 for the Dublin R16, Budapest R16 and Rome QF. Couldn't make the leap up from CAT2 for any others just yet. The ticket demand colours have changed (or some have disappeared or are in the process of changing) too! https://www.uefa.com/uefaeuro-2020/ticketing/#ticketing-prices
https://www.uefa.com/uefaeuro-2020/news/newsid=2616220.html?iv=true That suggests that Budapest will be a harder ticket than many would have anticipated. Denmark isn't listed despite Copenhagen appearing the hardest ticket to get according to the so-called demand indicator. Obviously it is very easy to get to Copenhagen from Germany, the Netherlands and Sweden, amongst others. Also a small stadium. I wonder if there is a flat demand profile with relatively little variation between venues, excluding Baku. Is the demand indicator still visible and/or was it updated today?
I really wish I’d have looked for this thread before the application window ended. It literally never crossed my mind to create accounts using the details of family members, etc. That said, I went for some of the locations that had less demand and lower prices, so hopefully I can get some Cat 1/2 tickets for Budapest/Bucharest I applied for. I also wonder how much it increases the likelihood of getting tickets when you check the box for accepting tickets in another category. I noticed that the linked “post-application period” press release ended with this bit, which is promising: “Unsuccessful applicants will become part of the UEFA 'Fans First' programme, meaning they will be the first to know about any future opportunities to purchase tickets.” Hopefully that includes locations other than Baku!
I would guess that it helps, especially if you applied for cat.2 tickets (meaning you would be put in the lottery for any unsold cat 1 tickets) and especially if you applied to group-stage matches in Bucharest.
I wasn’t against trying for more far-flung matches (from London for me) in the first place, but once I realized some locations were even priced lower due to an expected lack of demand it seemed like a no-brainer to apply for tickets there. A direct 2:45/3:45 flight to Budapest or Bucharest is extremely reasonable in my mind. Having spent my entire adult life until now in the SF Bay Area, it takes basically the same amount of time just to get from SFO to somewhere in Texas for a layover.
European football is so far ahead of South America now that the Euros are like a World Cup every 2 years after the other one.
Supposedly the Copa America will be aligning to the same cycle as the Euros (2020, 2024, etc.). It remains to be seen whether they actually carry-out this promise though. But yeah, UEFA is way more organized. Here we are buying tickets for the 2020 Euros, meanwhile we only found out the hosts of the 2020 Copa America like about a month ago.
Just today I was looking at the Wiki page for Copa America 2020 and the format has been tweaked in an obvious effort to rival the Euros. It's still just 12 teams, but with Colombia and Argentina co-hosting there's a six-team "North Zone" and a six-team "South Zone." Each group will be your typical round robin, so five group matches for everybody. Then the top four from each group - North/Colombia and South/Argentina - advance to the knockouts. The new format adds 12 matches to the group stage - 30 total rather than 18 - and that will stretch the duration out by one week. The tournament even takes place at the exact same time as Euro 2020: June 12-July 12.
Email from UEFA post application includes this: Please note in case of a payment failure, your application will be cancelled This is interesting and potentially a bit concerning. If for some reason there is an error with your card or your bank blocks the payment, your application gets cancelled. It explains that they want to get this processed ASAP but make sure your payment methods are up to speed!
Good luck everybody, Personally I was not very keen on doing it, but yeah at the end I made some duplicate application. I really preferred the system in 2016 with the credit card details. Or even better at the WC18 with the credit card + chance if your payment was denied. It helped to prevent a big part of the multiple application I think. Anyway let’s see, usually I get most of my wanted tickets at this stage. I hope everybody here will get they request and start to organise this complexe euro. For the others please remember they are a lot of round still where we can have a chance to get a ticket.
I have applied for the opening game in Dublin and second game at Wembley. I am hoping to see Republic of Ireland and then England. Hiow easy is it to sell tickets if these two teams are not playing in these games ? Thank you
On the ticket information pdf it says there will be an official resale platform during March/April, where you will be able to sell your tickets and others will be able to by them on a first come first served basis. This is my first time buying tickets but I have heard that previously UEFA have charged the seller a resale fee of 10-15% of the ticket price.
