I love me some USWNT and watch every minute of every game including friendlies. I even follow some on social media. BUT I am getting tired of seeing them and wondering if America is too. I couldnt stomach watching them on the ESPY's last night and hope their message isnt getting lost due to over saturation.
Hahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahahahahaha gasp....gasp Hahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahahahahaha cough....cough Hahahahahahahahahahahaha Hahahahahahahahahahahaha
They just won the World Cup, they are the hit of the town and deservingly so. I'm sure when France won the men's WC, they were on French TV, media for a long time, the same with Germans in Germany, Italy, etc., etc. The 99ers when they won rode the wave for a long time. I don't think there is over-saturation here. This is normal.
I'm definitely NOT tired of watching them. Looking forward to their games this summer. I'm also not tired of hearing them speak out on equal pay and any other issue of social justice. Anyone tired of the team doesn't have to watch, listen, read about them, whatever. But I surely will.
Nope, I'm not tired of watching them. I can't wait to see them at the Rose Bowl in August in the blistering heat.
I would venture to assume there’s some players who are annoyed. There’s some players who know doubt hold this thing together, don’t say a whole lot, and probably are a little tired of the same few people getting all the pub (either by their own doing, or by the media). Winning hides a lot of this or keeps it under wraps, but I guarantee behind closed doors, there’s some players who are like, “wth, we carried this team and performed consistently all tournament, yet we get hardly any publicity.”
Always amusing to see people desperate to find a negative angle in the midst of glory and joy. What is a "guarantee" worth with NO evidence?
I haven't had a sense of any locker-room drama with this particular bunch. Rose Lavelle is getting plenty of publicity and nobody really knew who she was before this tournament. Alex Morgan, Megan Rapinoe, and Carli Lloyd are established brands and players that have been a part of the USWNT for several cycles so of course they are going to get the most interviews and attention. I notice though that some players are not really spot-light seekers. Tobin Heath doesn't go out of her way to attract the media spotlight and neither does Alyssa Naeher(who is quiet and reminds me of our other introverted keeper Barnie) Carli Lloyd doesn't seem too excited about the media attention and seems pretty introverted as well but I don't personally know her. The youngins like Rose, Crystal, Emily, Lindsay seem very much into social media and having fun. Sam Mewis makes me laugh because she reminds me of a quirky goofball friend I had in college where she spent all her time watching anime and having jedi sword-fights. Ashlyn Harris on the other hand, is anything but quiet. All of her instagram stories of her and the USWNT partying have gone viral and it's interesting that Ali Krieger isn't as wild and extroverted or at least she doesn't appear to be. Rapinoe is well.... Portland-weird. And lastly, Jessica McDonald couldn't party too hard, she's the only one that has a little 6 year old boy that she needs to take care of. Y'all don't know who the greatest party-animal of the team was though. Abby Wambach in her heyday was like a bull in a china-shop if there was any celebrating to do, she even out partied Alex Morgan and Ashlyn Harris and that's really hard to do. I think the 99ners want us to believe they were proper gentlewomen but I bet they were party-animals in their heyday as well. Julie Foudy certainly strikes me as someone that knew how to celebrate.
This isn’t America’s sweethearts like the 99 team... the US is very divided on this group... so i can’t imagine it’s all joy... I could care less either way, I just know how things work. when it comes to equal pay, sure their all united, but all the other antics start to wear thin, and specially amongst highly competitive women. Lol
If holding you to your own ridiculous words is being "literal," then I plead guilty. Can't wait for your next "guarantee."
Ridiculous words? Lol really? You act like we live in a kumbaya world where everyone gets along. Thinking that all these women will continue to play nice with each other after all this drama? Now that’s funny.
Personally, I don't really care about the team's interpersonal relationships, unless problems are severe and coaching staff need to get involved. No one on a team is always going to be best buds with everyone else all the time.
I'm sorry but Ashlynn Harris is acting like a friggin idiot. "The key to the motherf**ing city bitch*s" what is that?? She played a total of ZERO minutes in the world cup and is out there acting like she saved 10 pk's in the Championship game. She's really the only one who, to me, has damaged her reputation. I'm all for partying, dancing, singing etc... but she's been nothing but trash on Social Media all week.
Still can't get enough of this team. Can't wait for Aug 3 and especially the friendlies after that to see if there's any new faces getting called it. We have OGQ in about 7 months, then OG, then I'll be looking forward to seeing all the new faces called into camp and getting minutes in late 2020. I really wish I had a time machine... cuz I hate waiting for the next game.
https://www.theblaze.com/news/womens-soccer-player-f-bomb-videos Ashlyn Harris said a few offensive things to me like she’s comin for wife and children and to lock our doors. I was incredibly concerned that she would say scary things and I hope US soccer watches the footage and investigates further in the matter. Not even Hope Solo would say such nasty things.
that is one classy lady. I guess all it takes to have great content is throw around the word "bitches" and drop "F-bombs" and you are some kind of creative genius. They can celebrate how they like and people are free to see it as dumb and gringeworthy. And no, I don't think Mia Hamm, Foudy or Kristine Lilly would celebrate like that. Can we have the 99rs back please?
<Nazareth> WhoooooOOOOooooo, glove sti-i-inks</Nazareth> Sorry, that was the first thing that came to mind reading your username. I'll go away now...
Not really, I'm pleased to see them getting so much spotlight, just that I don't agree with some of the political stances some players have made. It's not agree or disagree with their ideas, it's that I don't think sports should be a field for ppl to sell their political view.
So then you'll join me I opposing the playing of the national anthem, and color guards, at sporting events?
No, I like the national anthem part. It didn't oppose anyone other than show ppl love their country, nothing wrong.
