Actually, most of the article is Mix saying very nice things about Gregg.

Silly season is upon us. Not much movement yet, but lots of potential moves.

Dunno if Djoride would be ready for the Bundesliga but I think any of those moves would be fine for him. Yeah he hasnt looked good with the Nats recently but I think he has a lot of potential

US use him as an 8/10. He's more of a 6/8. At d-mid his WS is 7.26 with 2 goals across 5 starts.

Tim Weah arriving for work at Lille:

Sebastian Soto starting preseason with a brace for Hannover. It could be a breakout year for the U20 forward.

List of capped players still very much in the USMNT picture who have transferred abroad this window:

Steffen to Fortuna Dusseldorf (on loan)
    Weah to Lille
Pulisic to Chelsea (at least physically now)
Boyd to Besiktas (all but official at this point)

Not sure if I'm missing anyone, but that's an exciting list right there.

He is an interesting enough and young enough player that it is probably worth a shot. Far from a sure thing but you gotta love the kid’s confidence.

I know he is a bit of a joke to most, but he is following the Jozy Altidore timeline pretty well. Will he score 30+ goals in Holland in the next two years? CFs develop almost as late as CBs.

    I’m excited about this move.

The Eredivisie has been a good level for many of our young players, and it’ll be a good audition for him for something bigger. If he kept riding the pine for Schalke or just played for some reserve games, he never would blossom.

Aaron Johannsson to Hammarby. Still only 28 years old. After a bunch of injuries, hopefully he can get back on track.

Yes. Haji was out of contract with Schalke, so the move to Venlo was a free transfer.

Hopefully it will do him some good. He should be able to get some PT and if he can score at a decent clip over the next 2-3 years I’m sure he will get a chance somewhere larger.

1 FW scored 15 goals and the other 6. The rest of their goals came from midfield. He should have a chance to break through. They play a 4-3-3 as well.

Apparently the deal is one year plus an option year.
So this is low risk from Venlo's point of view.
He does great, and they can either sign or sell.
Or they just cut him loose after the year.

Some transfer rumors about Antonee Robinson. Wigan seems to have made a bid. Everton have asked for a little more cash, but are also worried about some first team injuries.

He needs to leave Everton but I’m not sure Wigan is the best location other than familiarity and a locked on starting spot.

i actually think it would be good as long as its not a long term deal. but say a 3 year contract in a team hes already established in to have the chance to play regularly, hopefully show enough to move up/be bought by a bigger club after 2 when hes just turning 23 (if not, best case, even sooner) wouldnt be bad at all.

the biggest question id have is manager stability. if they dont have a recent history of being a revolving door id be cool with that move. much moreso than staying at everton.

Since Martinez left they’ve had a revolving door. From 13 to 17 they had a new guy every year. This guy has been there since 2017. They’ve been bottom of the table in the championship and even dropped to League 1. They’d bounce right back up but that’s not the type of place I’d like him to be. A dream would be if he can land on Leeds. I think Biesla would love his game. Derby would be another good location. Maybe a Swansea or Fulham who are looking to get back to the EPL.

EPB closing in on a move to the B1.

Sources tell ESPN FC that Palmer-Brown could be headed to Union Berlin following their first-ever promotion to the Bundesliga. The source said that "Manchester City seems to be favoring" the German club as a landing spot, given the quality of the league and Union Berlin's need for help along the back line.

Hopefully this stops some of the "maybe he is not interested" speculation we see from some posters.

"The US national team was and always will be my biggest goal."

I'll go out on a limb and predict these moves from MLS to top 4 in Europe (partially facilitated by Gold Cup appearances) by the end of the winter window:

Aaron Long --> Wolves/Leicester (already thought he'd end up in EPL b4 GC)
Reggie Cannon --> mid table EPL w/ initial loan until he qualifies for WP
    Paxton Pomykal --> Leverkusen/BMG
Nick Lima --> Hertha BSC (sounded like training there went well)
    Walker Zimmerman --> Frankfurt/Freiburg

For as much complaining as there was about the proportion of MLS players in an early less important comp, ironically it has the potential to increase the % of roster in the top European leagues for later in the cycle when games matter more. Then those same critics will advocate for those same player's inclusions.

I had no shortage of critiques for the job Gregg did, but he used the Gold Cup way better for integration than Klinsmann + Arena (2nd tenure) did obviously, and maybe even Bob.

It's going to help create a resurgence to restore the pipeline, in conjunction w/ the improvement of MLS academies and their own 1st team integration.

Some of the younger players it's still going to take a little time to increase experience and senior int'l or youth team showcases, to create that next even bigger (probably than ever) wave. We'll reap the rewards for it in the long run.

Nobody has the potential to develop players better on their first contracts than than those player's domestic league if there's any semblance of one. It's the same sport, and they'd be playing at a higher level than in any youth league.

    Hi folks,
I just deleted a series of posts about Jurgen Klinsmann, as they don't fit with the purpose of this thread.

While you’re at it, can you go ahead and lock this one? I created a ‘19/‘20 thread.
