@The Potter, check out the u16 thread. Theres some links to some matches and great clips from Englands performance at the Montaigu tournament last year. Bellingham is number 8 (tall CM). That whole group is wonderful: dembele, musiala, Barry, Delap, Bellingham, Ohio. Heres some highlights Sam King put together to show us passing through lines

In my mind part of the United identity is a core of players from the British Isles but that's maybe only because Fergie was there so long and he managed his players careers so well. Ryan Giggs had like the perfect career, he started off as a 17 year old phenom on the wing and retired when he was 40 but had a couple of phases in his career when he was kind of poor. I remember Allardyce wanted him at Bolton when he was about 34 and offered him like a 3 year contract, he ended up being at United for another 6 seasons. I wish Solskjaer the best but if he's really thinking of spending Poigba type money on Harry Maguire then they could be in trouble, he's a terrific defender and great on the ball (everyone who says he's poor technically just expose themselves as gobshites) but he has average mobility he'll need a very good athletic defender beside him,

Cheers man, there does seem to be a change of the guard in European football. I've been used to the same group of players dominating the sport for the past decade, it'll be interesting to see who replaces them.

And after France England seem to be as good as anyone.

Further to David's comment and to save you some time, the England matches from Montaigu are all on this YouTube channel:

    https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC3CbIEYMUbv-TB3jrxWn8JA/videos

Longer videos are full halves of games, and I think the general feeling was that the Portugal game was the best performance.

It was never easy to follow the success Southampton had with their own young players and obviously Premier League football played it's part but with Matt Targett sold for big money - Harrison Reed and Sam Gallagher are set to follow.

Joining Stephens, Ward-Prowse and Sims are Vokins & N'Lundulu for the English contingent from Saints Academy. No Ramsey/Slattery who seemed to maybe be getting into the picture under the new manager.

More of the 'older' contingent for West Ham.

Cheers man. Much appreciated, I'm really getting into England again, I know its a mistake but they do seem like a talented, likeable bunch. I always over rate English youth talent massively, I thought Wilshere and Josh McEachran were going to be like Xavi and Pirlo. But unlike 7,8,9 years ago there actually seems to be a group of exciting young players rather than just 1 or 2.

Doesn't say much for Oakley-Booth's prospects when he can't even make it among those kind of names.

I rate Poch but I don't know if it is conscious effort for the type of player he looks to from the academy or not. Majority of those are centre-mids or central attacking players. To be fair he was excited with Marcus Edwards to start. But then after time it didn't work out like Onomah and both look to have been told they available for transfer.

Then you had TOB rushed promotion and gone downhill since. There already have been leaks to press that he is threatening to quit and when you see so many centre-mids ahead of you it probably is wise to do so as you could argue it is probably justifiable on performances too.

Obviously there are those that will question him on his failings and then there is KWP. Whether he actively wants to introduce these players or it was a necessity is another debate.

I think it’s quite sad about what has happened at Spurs for a few really talented youngsters who just seem to have lost their way over the last few years. Off course there’s TOB but also the likes of Marcus Edwards and Onomah that were tipped to break into Spurs first team and future England Internationals but are now pretty much in purgatory. Not really sure why all these three have fallen off a cliff considering their talent, have Spurs not handled their development well or is the blame solely the players themselves, or a bit of both? Edwards and Onomah need permanent moves away ASAP to get there fledging careers back on track.

Not that it is really England news any more, but Luke Garbutt about to sign up for another season in League 1.....just looked him up and he is 26 now!

Chelsea get a lot of stick re how they use the loan system but Everton hold onto players for way too long

I would think its more likely Garbutt refuses to leave, he signed a 5 year contract back in 2015 which is probably worth a lot more money than any club would be willing to pay him.

Brewster is looking really sharp. Minimalist in just the right way.
Ryan Kent also had a good game.
Let’s see what the second course brings...
