Gaich might be sold to Genoa and then in the future, he’ll be sold off to Inter if he is a success.

There were talks of Almendra moving to Napoli. But Burdisso stated he’s not going anywhere for the time being.

Romero’s deal should be finalizing in the next few days. He’ll be sent back to Genoa. Juve want him to continue to get minutes and not just sit around if he’s at Juve. He’s already commented on wanting to play for the seleccion.

There are rumors that if Icardi doesn’t agree to move by June 30th then they’re gonna just not bother with him. I am not sure if they’re gonna bite the bullet and just pay him for him not to show for 2 years. This is hard to fathom but I wouldn’t be shocked. I guess both sides are having a Mexican stand-off and see who blinks first.

All this talk of Dybala leaving perhaps is no more. Sarri will be appointed soon and I do wonder what Sarri can get out of Dybala. Will he get the first 3 years of Juve or last season’s version? There was talks about his physical fitness and he does look a bit puffy. He was huffing and puffing in the first minute of the game v Nicaragua. We’ll see what happens.

Argentina has a good base to build on for the next Copa

Tagliafico, Foyth, Romero, Paredes, De Paul, Lo Celso, Martinez, Dybala; the next generation is not as dire as it once looked. Hopefully Icardi can get his shit together.

What we need is a top young goalkeeper and top b2b midfielder.

Musso and Benitez both deserve a chance for the national team. Likewise we have to hope that one of Palacios or Zaracho (or both) make the next step up.

Bitter about the result today but let’s look on the bright side.

For the next Copa America I want to see this:

    Lautaro - Messi
    Lo Celso
Palacios - Paredes - De Paul
    Tagliafico - Martinez - Romero - Foyth
    Benitez

I think the spine is there for a good team.

The third place match should be used wisely... and if Di Maria is playing instead of Dybala , then Dybala might just quit the NT.

Di Maria should pack his bag already and head straight into the beach.

ADM is a player could’ve been on the cusp of greatness. That goal he scored vs the Swiss and the crowd reaction is something I’ll never forget. Our entire house had jumped with a scream with 15 people. That is the positive memory I’ll take away from that World Cup. I think he had a few great years but injuries is what really did him in and not to mention, his low IQ.

One by one, these players are fading away, like the sand through the hour glass, so are the days of our lives.

The national team isn’t like your club team where most players come and go in a few years, our national team stuck together for a LONG time. We watched most of these guys for over a decade. Even Higuaín, who I still harbor great resentment for but what is truly sad is that you kinda grew up with these guys, throughout my 20s and now into mid 30s... they’re here, they’re kinda like old friends you went into the trenches with, where you had tears of joy and and tears of heartache. They’re a part of you. I can remember where I was for many of these big games... But gradually they’ll be gone, you’ll continue but you’ll kinda miss that generation even though they failed you many times over.

Alas, let’s continue to build and hopefully win something next year.

You made a very good point there because I actually feel exactly the same way toward the 2005-2007 youth players. I'm also in my mid 30's now and its hard to believe I was in my mid 20's when Messi generation started to play for the NT (with Messi started 2 years earlier than the rest).

As Messi pointed, they fought their way to many finals, but at the end of the day, they just come up short in every finals and the fans mocks them to no end as if its a first round exit everytime.

Di Maria, Messi , Higuain all has made their marks on World cup history with those winning goals that helped us to reached final at Brazillian soil and its certainly the highest point of the NT in last 25 years. Those goals coupled with great defensive peformance from the likes of Mascherano, Garay and Zabaleta and even Romero who became an unlikely hero for many years. Sure we didnt win the final but WC matches victory and goals always gives you a long lasting memory/

The 2012-2016 period I believe was the peak of Messi's generation , but luck simply isnt on their side. In 3 major tournaments during those years, we technically lost only a single game which was against Germany at 113 minutes of the final. We thrashed every team in qualifier almost in simliar fashion as Bielsa team did back in the day. To say Messi generation never live up to expectation would be totally an understatement.

Yes we need to continue to build, losing always sucks but this team started the campaign with 2 abysmal performance, but they bounced back and put 3 courageous performance. I dont hate ADM, I just hate the fact that Scolani decided to call him in first place and even though he has been terrible, he keeps getting more minutes than Dybala.

de Paul continues to be linked with several teams and his performances at this Copa mean his value has increased greatly once again. I would have taken him to Russia because he was finally maturing as a player. He took the knock back like Nicolas at Murcia, he at Valencia which shows the mental strength he has and you need players like that.

Chimy Avila has left relegated Huesca and joined promoted Osasuna.

Yet even some of the "journalists" voting for that Ballon d'Or are basically campaigning for Van Dijk. Some even for Penaldo. Remember when the same "journalists" crucified Messi for the tax issue? When Penaldo had the same issues they turned a blind eye. Which they also have done when he got rape charges. Insane... Not just Conmebol that is corrupt:mad: Sorry for the digresion...

I would like to see a line up like this tried out for the upcoming friendlies.

    Benitez
    Foyth - Mammana - Romero - Tagliafico
Paredes - Palacios - De Paul
    Lautaro - Icardi - Dybala

Subs: Musso, Kannemann, Acuna, Ascacibar, Lo Celso, Lanzini, A Correa

We should have kept Martino. I always defended this man and he had us play the best football at the Copa got severely unlucky vs Chile with freaking lavezzi going into the stand and higuain missing everything.

Don’t think so. Tata didn’t invest in the youth. Not to mention the amateur mistake he did when he said he didn’t call up Dybala to the because he wanted him at the Olympics but he never got clarification from Juve to release him, which they did not. He also openly criticized Icardi when Icardi was coming off a very good season with Inter.

Tata was incompetent. He called the same fools over and over. 2016 CAC should’ve been our building for the future but nope, we stumbled under him. Not to mention he lost to Ecuador at home in our opening round of qualifiers and then drew away to Paraguay. He managed 4 points in our first 4 games, which included a draw at home vs a piss poor Brasil side that was managed by Dunga.

Nice and respectful man, but managing Argentina was clearly out of his realm. He’ll do fine with Mexico and will probably qualify them for the World Cup with ease.

Tata was fortunate USA was unable to finish one of it's multiple chances in the first half otherwise it would have been yet another failure in a continental final for him.

Tata is just a decent manager. We have at least solid defence and played some good attacking football during his tenure against decent teams but his selection and subtitution has always been below par.

For example, he always started with Higuain and replace him with Kun later on but without actually changing anything else tactically so tougher opponent doesnt need to adapt to our game , they can just sit and defend the same way before the sub was made and we will never have the answer to break the wall.

Just like Scolani, I dont understand why he always forced us to have Di Maria even when he's underperform or not fully fit. We've been doing well with Lamela after Di Maria got injured in Copa 2016 second game, Lamela connected well with Messi , even scores a few goals, but Di Maria suddenly back in starting line up in the final despite barely recover from his hamstring.

Predictably, he had horrible game and was subbed out for Kranneviter in second half but Lamela didnt came in until 110 minutes lol. We already lost Lavezzi in semifinal, what we need is an extra attacking player to break Chile's wall and he fielded only 2 forwards + injured Di Maria + Biglia in midfield.. great! and he expect us to score with that against team that sit back the whole day waiting for shootout.

With similar setup that Scolani had in last few games, Tata's team would have won those finals. It should have been Messi + 2 forwards infront of him + Lamela. Tata actually did that in previous games and we hammered our opponents with Messi-Lavezzi-Higuain-Lamela attacking combo.

He lost in two finals in same exact fashion against very same opponent... nobody should wait for his return. After 2 Copa + qualifier games , he already had more than enough chance to proof his worth, he did pretty good but obviously far from enough when it matter.

Romero had his physical today. Apparently he’ll be sent back to Genoa for another season so that he’ll gain more experience.

Lo Celso to Tottenham could happen, it is looking like they are the front runners.

In the world of Mauro Icardi. Both Conte and Marotta have stated he is not apart of the Inter project. Napoli have reportedly shown interest and begun negotiations(so they say). A lot of teams are interested BUT they know the baggage he comes with, i.e. his wife. He’s gonna be sold at wholesale. They just want him out. They only paid peanuts for him, so anything will be a profit.

Why isn't Romero going to Atalanta? Or was that just a rumor?
