We also don’t know if Pulisic would start in MLS but I’m thinking he would.

One thing we've done in the past when faced with a problem at one of the outside backs (a problem that we've had a lot, often LB) is to put a hard working, fast midfielder back there. Sure, they'll be out of position but someone's going to be, and they won't be beat for speed (unlike Ream), plus can push up into the offense (unless the GGG system forbids it). Examples: Hejduk [I think originally a midfielder before migrating more regularly to defense], DMB [played defensively for the MNT late in the JK era].

He’d be the most physically gifted 6 in the league. By a huge margin. He might not fit every scheme and he’s an average passer at best, but he’d look like the terminator in the MLS.

If MLS teams really don’t “want” him for the right price I’m really am going to go find some tinfoil.

Honestly if Wes sees Principe in a friendly, I think Wes should show spikes. Can’t let that shit slide. Not from our biggest rival in the region. Someone grabs me by the throat and he’s getting a fist in the face. I don’t care what the setting is.

And I like Guardado. But he’s made his money. Wes can’t afford to look like someone who’s going to take that for the next 10 years in CONCACAF.

And you know what, with GGG as the head coach or another MLS/SUM good ole boy heading this program; you will see Bradley starting in the next WC (assuming we can miraculously get there).

pretty sure hejduk was always a back/wingback. but its a valid idea.

well, first i want to be clear- robinson, gloster, bello are the(my) first priorities. i dont want to argue about everything so ill just say- in response to "robinson is terrible", or "no first team experience"- robinson has, i think, only played under sarachan (where olosunde was capped, for petes sake) and the one under berhalter tooling around with a 3 man backline w/wingbacks (in a match where he played off mihalovic who consistently passed two yards behind him).

but in lieu of actual left backs theres three options- a flipped right back (lichaj, lima, some say dest), left footed cbs (boca, ream, lovitz) or a left mid.

im not a fan of flipped rbs at all- certainly not double flipped right sided mids who can play right back so i wont be getting behind arriola.

kik piere is the obvious bs (almost certainly inflated value, very few have actually seen play, 50/50 at best he even plays for us) pick for the "cb/lb". i really wish long were a leftie. i know justen glad played some outside back, but hes right sided isnt he? and thats starting to really dip in quality...

i dont know that we have a good option there.

left-sided mids is where im curious. i dont know enough about amon (well, full stop) to think theres any reason to convert him, but saief is kind of interesting. if im not mistaken he played a bit of wingback last season, right? we dont really have a great read on him with the nats, either though.

but i think we have as many options as we ever have. piere (VERY theoretically), saief (a regular amount of theoretically) depending on a true back 4 vs in-practice 3 man backline. i really want to see robinson in a straight back 4 with players around him.

im not super excited about gloster for unknown reasons, but he just had the best/most consistent youth tournament ive seen from any lb in the dozen-ish years ive watched youth nat teams. im not personally interested in bello at all (yet) but everyone says he has huge upside.

my thing is- if its not a piere or a saief (which is pretty safe to assume)- i think giving robinson a good long look with the first team is preferably to any solid, mls lifer we can plug in there. i mean, if that were the case we might as well play garza (granted- hurt for like the last five years it seems) over lovitz.

...i genuinely just dont see the appeal in lovitz whatsoever.

my point being- im open to out of the box/converted players as lb. but a safe, average ass mls player over a robinson or even never played a pro game gloster? no. god, enough already. at some point i just want to TRY for better, rather than immediately settle for comfy and known and just a call away in kansas city or whatever.

You would think a smart coach would recognize that dynamic and choose wisely. IF we had a wise coach.....

    Garbage.

1 - You have no clue how Morales would perform in the MLS

2 - What exactly had Bradley done in the MLS in the past 2 years? Someone go pull his stats please. What exactly had Morris done? Wasn't he injured for a full year?

man, i want to see morales in a friendly pretty bad at this point. if only to see if hes become this godly player so many are convinced hes become, or if hes as bang ass average as i remember him being.

its my own fault, really, for not watching his dominating run, destroying top rated players and teams in germany over all these yea...er, 13 games. before he barely played in the second half of the season. not due to injury.

You talk like GGG knew what he was doing. Did you look at 3 of his subs? Idiotic and wasteful, while 1 simple change from Mexico won the game.

Dude, it is the 1.Bundesliga, not MLS. Anybody who gets playing time on a 1.Bundesliga roster is likely to be a pretty damn good soccer player. Morales would probably take Trapp's roster spot right now. Would any Bundesliga team sign Trapp? I think probably not even a decent 2.Bundesliga team would be interested.

This I can agreed with you.

1 - You don't send kids out their with the armband. You don't rotate the armband like it's an accessory. Who the hell else do that? This is all on 3G. He's a moron.

2 - Yes, Pulisic is hurt. How many more key losses can he take before he finally breaks down? He's still a kid. Guys his age are still in college having fun and doing dumb things, not trying to carry a team of men on his back.

Well, how about just focusing and winning the game. I think other U.S. players should have been there when Altidore got knocked down and stepped in.

Let me clarify, like=rate. He does not rate Sargent, which means he does not like his talents nor skillsets.

Like doesn't mean he wants to invite Sargent over for dinner.

Well, your basically now telling Bradley's story in early 2011. The only difference is that, Bradley got his continued golden spot in the team but Morales cant even get a sniff.

8 years later we are still talking about this shit? Jeez.

I can't wait until McKennie faces Mexico again.

He's gonna have that image in his head for a long long time.

im both kidding and couldnt care less. your comparison to trapp means nothing to me- who the hell is arguing for trapp (well, other than our freaking manager...)?

im saying- as a soccer friend- youve lost all perspective w regard to morales. he is objectively not the answer. hes not AN answer to any question beyond "who could possibly be a solid backup to adams and mckennie that american managers dont care about?".

you can make a long, long list of players who he is maybe, possibly, probably better than- but absolutely none of them being bad makes him any better.

its the player comparison version of saying we are the worst team in concacaf. thats obviously not the case, and its stupid even as hyperbole. we just played in the final- we are (again, objectively) the second best.

hes not the savior you are looking for. completely best case hes like our fourth best midfielder not even COUNTING the players berhalter prefers (bradley, trapp, mihailovic, roldan). theres NO reason for them to even be in the equation. youre arguing with bs as if we are berhalter.

thats how in the weeds the argument for him is- NO ONE is arguing against him other than saying hes not some tragically ignored american viera.

Pulisic transfer value is 50? 100? Infinity? times Morales’ value. Thanks for the deliberately obtuse argument.

I watched him play about seven times this year. Staying on a Bundesliga roster is impressive; yet, that’s a team getting it done on the cheap, and it’s simply not the same thing as being on Bayern or Dortmund or even RB Leipzig. Yes, they were mid-table, but mid-season they were in desperate relegation trouble until Lukebakio went nuts in a few games. Morales was not their superstar, or star, but a positive contributor.

How do you expect to achieve greatness with a lazy mentality. Guys like him will remain average at best, while his peers will be miles ahead of him.

I will always have major respect for guys that take the risk and test themselves against the best in the world, while knowing clearly that they can failed miserably and risk everything. No pains no gains.
