If that is your view fine -- I'm not arguing that point. I'm not defending Zardes. If you believe that about Zardes, then in no way is it true of any 18yo kid who has yet to earn playing time at the pro-level. Why is this about Just so it is clear, I've said nothing about Bradley or Berhalter. Maybe you did not mean to post this is reply to my post about Zardes. Focus people.
Which is why I didn’t say that. Who is splitting hairs? The point was intended to illustrate that there is a place to rant and wish that reality was different than it is. That’s not here. If you want to criticize and question whether the coach can improve - all fair game. I personally think it’s odd to think there is only 1 appropriate answer to the last sub question given all the things we as fans don’t know, but that’s open for debate.
Yup. Klopp, Tuechel and Bosz all loved the kid. Dembele and Aubameyang both enjoyed playing with him. That's a lot of clout to ignore and cast aside.
That Adams has been available for exactly ONE match. We have two players starting in Champions League level teams--Adams and Pulisic. The next closest is McKennie. The two who weren't injured were mainstays in this tournament. McKennie got the armband for the final. Still, your prior take that "we'll never ever see a midfield of McKennie, Pulisic and Adams" is just way off.
What makes you think Berhalter doesn't like Sargent? Please refer to something other than the hatefeed that runs through your brain.
What’s your confidence level that neither Trapp nor Bradley will be in the midfield during a game in 2019? I understand that you’re probably focused on the phrase “never ever”....
OK. Have your anti-coach discussion with someone else. Its not relevant to my posts. And if your saying Sargent is undeveloped immense talent and you think the best way to develop him is to put him into the Gold Cup roster then that is a reasonable discussion that does not conflict with my point one bit.
You said Sargent is too young and inexperienced for selection to the NT. Morales is neither too young, nor too inexperienced. Get the point?
I have been hearing a variation of this concerning Bradley and his midfield partner seemingly since the beginning of time. The question is, who on Earth IS a good pairing with Bradley? I remember Jermaine Jones suggesting 5 or 6 years ago that maybe the US manager should think about playing other lineups in central midfield, as other players had earned rights for looks. We all knew what he was saying. And then 2 years ago in early 2017, he complained that the soccer media always blamed HIM, as opposed to other players, when things went wrong. But when they went well, the credit went elsewhere. Again, we ALL knew what he was saying. Now we see that this year alone, Bradley was voted in the Concacaf best XI for 2018 AND in the best XI for the 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup. Toronto sucked in 2018 and Bradley himself was not good on the team. Additionally, Bradley didn't play much, if at all, on the national team during 2018. But he was Concacaf best XI! And we all saw the Gold Cup. So it seems to me that Jermaine Jones, who took heavy criticism at the time of his comments 5 years back, was way ahead of the folk on bigsoccer in calling out the problem of accountability and favoritism. And that favoritism doesn't stop within our federation, apparently. Either that, or we are all just that stupid. I guess that is possible too.
I have failed as a teacher. What I’m trying to say is people should watch the ********ing games, and not shoehorn posts into their preconceived narratives. Anyone can look at my posts over the last 24 hours, and it’ll be obvious I thought Bradley was bad and should have been yanked about minute 60. It’s just fun to see the pretzel logic of posters when it comes to WM’s play in general and this play in particular.
No. Your trying to bait me into a discussion about whether Berhalter makes good decisions. I'm not engaging in that. Have that discussion all you want and I will stay out of it. Some of you guys want to use Sargent's exclusion as support for your hate of Berhalter, which is really a different argument. But to the extent that my point undercuts that one data point there is a desire from the anti-Berhalter movement to go nutzo over my pointing out the truth. For me, If I was making an anti-Berhalter argument I would not focus on the exclusion of an 18yo kid who is struggling as yet to get regular minutes with a club. It kinda hurts credibility. Your argument about Morales would not have that weakness.
@nobody yes Mathis played in Germany (and I think Greece.). But he was at his best when he was in MLS. No, they are not. I award you 2 Strawmen.
classic USSF .... ostrich with head stuck in the sand NO I AM NOT ARGUING TO FIRE GGG ..... Transparency and asking good questions is all we (as fans) want.
the assist AND shot both happened INSIDE the 18 yard box.....directly in front of goal....that area should be controlled by the backline and especially the center backs who were just backing off and not closing down the threat.... but yeah lets blame mckennie lol
completely agree .... I just don't get how that gets done 36 inches from the ref in direct line of sight and he does not card the offending player. How much more obvious can the transgression be?
even donovan played for leverkusen, bayern munich and everton....lets not pretend those experiences didn't influence his development
the team gets the blame or in fact it really rests on the coach .. that was just symptomatic of the lack of cohesion between Bradley and McKennie and the fact that GGG should have put another interior midfielder with those two during the second half to adjust.
why climb the mountain? because it is there. Until MLS competes with European teams - hell until we win a few games in the CONCACAAF champions league against Liga MX teams - the taller mountains will always be in Europe. This is not rocket science folks - this is about striving to be the best.
fair enough .... we all want to see them win .... I just recall with all the excitement about Klinsman and this kid Morris from Stanford and wondering why in the hell he did not go to Europe if he had this potential. He too stays closer to home instead of heading to the land of beer and bratwurst to see how much he can get tested and improved.
Maybe for a last stage, but maybe not. Hard to see them putting VAR in on old cricket grounds in the West Indies.
ironic that that is the place it is likely most needed - to overturn any obvious errors ... like an elbow in the jaw - a missed offsides - or a hand around a neck in a choke hold .... just sayin ... I am old enough to know that if there is any place where VAR is needed it is CONCACAAF.
