  1. So the final is between Yanks and Dutch.
The AngloSaxons are already spending the spoils of their victory.[IMG]

  2. @Orange14
    Something went wrong.
    I wanted in stead of
    Attack on the USA
Lionesses pride hunt the Bald Eagle

    Could you edit the title?

  3. I'm reading very smugg comments in the Yanks match thread.
Wiegman should print some of those to hang in the locker room.

What would be really cool is for Robben, van Persie, Kuyt and a couple of others to pay a visit to training and give their support!!!

  6. Yup, thanks!

  7. I bet some Orange celebs will be invited. In the Sweden match the FIFA had invited among others Ronald Koeman and ex-topscorer (Vivian took the crown) and 136-time international Manon Melis as a legend.

This seriously was posted on The Guardian in response to the match report of tonight's game. Make of it what you will!!!

Megan Rapinoe's prophetic words will come to haunt USA! USA! now that they will be playing The Netherlands in the final.

Because according to a report in the Guardian from four days ago the US Captain said that you cannot win a championship without gays.

    https://www.theguardian.com/football/2019/jun/28/cant-win-without-gays-usa-megan-rapinoe

And this may very well be true!

But perhaps very unlucky for USA! USA! because statistically The Netherlands counts more openly gay players in the squad and on the team than USA! USA! (Miedema, Van Dongen, Spitse, Dekker, and Van de Donk).

Thus it seems that USA! USA! has lost the game of words before the final even started.

  9. It's such a shame we cannot get the Orange March to the stadium. For sure it would scare the hell out of the US women, thinking the Donald has released all the convicts to get them for their WH remarks:D

  10. Such a funny bunch talking shit about the Lionesses (like the English claiming the final was the USA-England match). Solo pissing down on the Orange Lionesses too.
Just to remind them who they're dealing with, the only nation in the world that has a better record than the USA in the last two important tournements (for the USA being the WC 2019 and the Olympics and for the Orange Lionesses the Euro 2017 and this WC) are the Orange Lionesses.

  11. Fact:
This whole tournement the Orange Lionesses never were behind.

  12. Fact:

It's precisely 45 years since Oranje made it's first appearance in a WC Final on July 7th 1974!

Hope that will carry through July 07. I'm still not clear with the tactic of midfield sitting back, leaving the forwards by themselves (possibly afraid of Sweden long ball). Perhaps Netherlands will sit back, absorb pressure, wait for the US to be tired and then counter attack. The defense needs to be good because I don't think Netherlands can outscore USA in an open game. Veenendaal was the MVP of the semi final for me (not Groenen) and the team needs her and Van Der Gragt to be the pillar in the final in order to have a chance. The Sweden swamping the goalkeeper area for the corner kick created dangerous chances. The coach needs to deal with that in addition to fast attack by the US at the beginning of each half.

Dutch will be massive underdogs but then I am reminded of the 1969 Super Bowl between the Baltimore Colts and New York Jets. Colts were huge betting favorites and lost the game when they were outsmarted by Jets' quarterback Joe Namath. I won $200 betting that the Jets would cover the point spread which was a huge amount of money at that time. I hope BD has some courage to wager on the Lionesses.

  15. Beerensteyn is needed in defensive pov too. She's more physical than Lieke and has more stamina to be a nusance to the right midfielder and fast enough to assist our left defender against their right winger. I can't see Lieke be of any use at all in that respect, given her toe issue even less now.
If both Beerensteyn and van de Sanden are on the pitch and we keep both on the edge of the pitch it forces the USA to make the pitch covered wider. That gives them less players to concentrate in attacking mode on either side because of the vulnerability to a break out on the other side, so less players to defend against.

I had so much faith and confidence in this team from the beginning. They have the best midfield in the world and that goes a very long way. On top of which they play really well together, and have adjusted as the tournament has gone on (notice after the Japan game they have had 2 really strong 2nd halves...conserving their energy more in the 1st half so as not to run out of steam like they did in that game).

This has real heartbreak potential because I would have been cheering against the US anyway (nobody likes them) but now if the Leeuwinnen were to lose against them I would be very, very sad.

However, I have faith in these ladies and especially Groenen to up their game and find a way to win. They can definitely beat this US team.

You did not like the "sipping tea" goal cheer or the rubbing of Thailand, did you? I don't mind them and they are heavily favourite. 8 years ago Japan was the heavy underdog and they were resilient and did a huge upset. Of course 4 years later USA got their revenge. If Netherlands can keep the game tie, score in the last 10 min and defend by leaving everything on the pitch.... I hope for a good final.

  19. Ladies, time to add another World Cup trophy in the trophy room of the All Sports Orange Lionesses Trophy Room.

Van de Sanden enjoys the reception: So greatfull to all the spectators.

She was very emotional when she talked about the moment she was sub in and the stadium started to chant her name, not only the Orange fans, but also the Lyon fans that were there.

  21. Robin van Persie and Arjen Robben, two legends left the stage this end of the season.

45 years after Dutch football became legendary and trendsetting up till this day.

May the ladies coming Sunday exactly on the same day as the 1974 Final become the stuff of the continuation of our legendary heritage.

    Let the lionesses roar
