hard to see, we are a year away, 97-onwards is Olympics. Which means you got possible overage player, 97, 98, 99, 00 CB options. It really is all about how players do between now and next Summer as well as Kuntz's CB picks for next U21 cycle.

that's a lot of options, ask me that again next Summer.:D

as usual, 1BL or as high have the edge so it includes 98-Chabot who will play in Serie A at Sampdoria. So it could be negative on a lot of the 2BL guys even on loan as they only have next season.

although dfb must realize that picking 2BL CBs or none 1st choice in 1BL could help them land better clubs or help improve their club situation.

-looks like Freiburg really does not want to sell Waldschmidt while Mainz are considering selling Oztunali for the right price. With Holtmann getting loaned to Paderborn and a possible sell to Oztunali. Would be great if that opens up spots for 00-Burkardt and 01-Eyibil to the 1st team.

-Wolfsburg II preseason game they won 15-0.
    Herrmann X4, Konig X2,

Siersleben, Stach, Rizzi, Justvan, Klamt, Moker, Klump and Tachie. all once.

Tachie is someone unless has 1st team prospects it sucks that he got injured because based on last season he's better than RL level. Like Aydinel yesterday, it's good to see Herrmann score even if it's only a friendly now needs to show performance like this during the season. Same for Konig another 00 striker, Konig might not be a 1st team prospect but II teams are always scouted, if he performs he can move up elsewhere if he has 0 chances with Wolfsburg.

    -Gladbach II won 20-0
    Pia X4, Steinkotter X2, Noss, Cirillo X2,
    Benger, Arslan X1
The rest were scored by older German players and some foreign players.

Seems like newbie 00 striker Pia has had a good start at Gladbach II.

Spain leading 3-1 vs France, with less than half an hour to go.

I really wasn't wrong this French team is very light on good attackers. Which is why they aren't good enough at this tourney. France has only scored 3 goals at this whole tourney which includes 1 PK, that's very poor. Even 1BL striker Mateta has been a big bust, lol. Hopefully in good time, Akono and Burkardt succeed in making him irrelevant at Mainz.:devilish:

Looks like we are headed for a rematch from 2017 U21 Euro, ugh.

So Spain ended up trashing France U21 4-1.

Italy beat Spain and the Italians were the best team of Group A but this tourney one bad game and your done for. We recently defeated Italy but that was only a friendly.

Sunday Rematch from 2 years ago it is. Won't be easy, Spain never is. Defense needs to be really really vigilant and enough with the PK bullshit. And need to control the match too.

National coach Joachim Loew: I have seen all the games of our team and was in between with Stefan Kuntz in contact. It is impressive how these young players implement the guidelines, how disciplined they are, how they fight - as well as against Romania - and how much fun they show. For some players we will surely enjoy the U 21 beyond. I congratulate Stefan with his entire coaching and support team. And, of course, all players to the finals, to which everyone is now looking forward.

Oliver Bierhoff, Director National Teams and Academy: I am pleased for the young players that they were able to bring their strengths in this tournament constantly on the court and moved into the final. The qualification to participate in the 2020 Olympics alone is already a great success for the team and the DFB. So far, the U 21 has best represented German football at the European Championships in Italy and made an excellent business card. It is already clear to me that every single player will profit enormously from this experience, which means another big step in his individual development, with a view to the further career. The icing would now be the repeated title win. But both Spain and France are extremely strong opponents, which will make it difficult for us.

DFB Vice President Reinhard Rauball: Our team did that outstandingly. In the beginning it was difficult for them to get into the game, but they showed the right reactions in the right moments, scoring great goals and free kicks. In the second half, they have gained and therefore deservedly won. The guys have to spare their strength until Sunday to deliver another such performance. The Romanians also have to compliment their performance under these circumstances. In every corner one hears that it is not well ordered for the German offspring. This team refuted that today. I'm not worried about German football, because this generation not only played great, but also fought. We will certainly see one or two other players in the senior national team.

DFB General Secretary dr. Friedrich Curtius: The success story of our U 21 seems to have no end. Huge compliment to the team of Stefan Kuntz. It's truly amazing how the team gets their performance in every game. The re-entry is the result of perfect teamwork. Now, after a long season on Sunday, it's time to put all our energies back together to bring the title back to Germany.

    Schreck signed until 2023.

Technical director Mark-Jan Fledderus is happy to attract Sam Schreck: “Sam is a versatile midfielder with a great running capacity. He is known in Germany as a great talent that has passed through all German national youth teams up to and including the under-20s. Last season Schreck was a member of the first selection of Bayer Leverkusen. We see him as a player with a lot of potential and we are happy that we were able to tie him to FC Groningen for the next four years. "

reality is that Bayer never cared for him in the slightest, he was nothing but a back up player to them. Wasted the whole last season. And I called it would happen the moment they payed $20M for Paulinho. Seems like with the success of Chabot (now in Serie A) and Handwerker (1st team chances at Koln) that Groningen enjoyed having German players and wanted more since those 2 are gone. Eredivisie is a good league for dev and heavily scouted, you do well there and you'll end up somewhere else. Chabot only lasted 2 seasons.

still there are more players besides Schreck that need to make upward movement.

    -Update on Arp.

At Bayern he is scheduled for the first team.

Arp: "I want to optimally prepare for my start with the pros of FC Bayern and I am pleased that I got this opportunity with the amateurs."

U23 coach Sebastian Hoeneß (37) finds the ambition of the U19 national team great. The nephew of President Uli Hoeness (67) to BILD: "We are pleased that Fiete has joined us. This shows his outstanding attitude that he identifies fully with Bayern from the start and wants to prepare optimally. "

    -Passlack update
"The current status is that I have not yet finalized, whether I want to lend myself again or at least want to sell," said the 21-year-old opposite "spox": "Of course, this is also related to what the BVB with I'm planning - and that is currently in limbo. "

However, Passlack has a plan B ready: "There are ongoing talks with a few clubs and it could be that in time, something results, but if that is not the case, I suggest on July 3 to the training in Dortmund and fight there for my place. " Passlack's contract with Borussia Dortmund runs until 2021.

01-Unbehaun still injured, ugh. I was also wondering why did they extend with Oelschlagel, now we have an answer.

Dortmund's Luca Unbehaun is considered one of the biggest, if not the biggest, goalkeeping talent in Germany. No wonder, then, that BVB endowed the 18-year-old with a professional contract until 30 June 2022 and wanted to get him into practice practice in the U 23 of the club in the coming 2019/20 season. Bumbling, so the plan of Borussia, should play in the Regionalliga and in the pros as the third training - and so gently be brought to a higher level.

However, a serious knee injury puts the keeper talent and his club out of the game for the time being. Unbehaun, who stood for the last time in April for the U 19 of the BVB between the posts, had to be operated on and at least until the end of August. The exact date of his return can not be determined seriously.

So now Plan B of Borussia took action: without further ado, BVB extended the contract, originally due to expire at the end of June, with Eric Oelschlägel, the current number three, for another year.

"It is completely the right decision for me and I am very satisfied that I will play in Dortmund for another year," commented Oelschlägel on his extension in the Ruhr Nachrichten. The decision per Borussia not only guarantees him, but also the BVB planning security for the coming months. And it takes pressure from goalie talent, who can now work in peace on his full recovery.
    https://www.kicker.de/752284/artikel/wegen-unbehaun-verletzung_bvb-haelt-oelschlaegel#omsmtwkicker

Unbehaun is still U19 eligible next season but when fit will likely play in RL West. Sucks that Dortmund is using Oelschlagel but he seems content with staying and likely will jump up whether 3rd Liga or 2BL in Summer 2020.

have to say there are + in failing to make the U19 Euro (although that failure was only due to Norway scoring a tap in goal after a GK parry and then parked the bus to win 1-0, we were the better team but U19 Euro was always hard one to qualify only 3 games are played in Elite Round).

at least now players can be in 1st team preseason instead like with Arp. I see 0 benefit in someone like Arp playing youth tournament when he can be in preseason with the 1st team and maybe even participate in some 3rd Liga games. 3rd Liga for one starts like July 19. RL starts in 2 weeks, get themselves started already as a lot of players will be forced to play RL 1st, better to get into it.

I mean Mainz went out and said openly that they are glad Germany U19 failed so that Burkardt can play 1st team preseason. Pro careers trump your pre-U21 NT.

speaking of pre-U21 NT, reality it's all inconvenient. Between school issues, lack of physicality/maturity, the timing is also never good either. And we also got numerous examples of clubs blocking players pre-U21 from playing for the NT. And U19 Euro is always an issue since that tourney is during preseason and gets very close to season's start.

Really his trial at 2BL Aue was a no go even though he scored 9 goals in 2 preseason friendlies so he goes from one RL Sudwest club to another. I understand if he can't get a contract since Aue is packed but couldn't he have found a 3rd Liga club?

"The TSV Steinbach Haiger is an emerging club with a growing infrastructure and provides a good platform to evolve. Adrian Alipour and Matthias Georg have worked hard for me and made me feel good. I am grateful for the opportunity to take my next steps here and I really want to use this springboard for myself, "says Jannik Mause.

"Jannik Mause is a highly talented attacker who still has a lot of room for improvement. He is characterized by his speed and his robustness and he will strengthen us on the offensive right from the start, "says TSV Managing Director Matthias Georg.

Son, that's not a springboard, that's called 0 career progress. And more players continue to make 0 career progress. 2 years also means unless he moves to 2BL in Summer 2020, we can write him off to ever being relevant to the U21.

Been questioning 97-Morschel still being a Kiel player past this season for awhile and he's officially out.

21-year-old offensive man can look for a new club display display The day before he had been there, but Friday suddenly missed a face at the final unit before leaving the training camp in Kremmen Brandenburg: Heinz Mörschel. As sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth confirmed, Holstein Kiel has released the 21-year-old offensive man from training in order to devote himself to the search for a new club. The athletes had previously informed Mörschel not to plan with him any more.

The still tied to 2020, in the summer of 2018 to the Kiel Fjord changed professional could not recommend sustainable in the days of Kremmen, also showed in the friendly match at SV Falkensee-Finkenkrug (9: 0) no convincing performance. Interest in Mörschel is reported to give despite low deployment times in the preseason - especially from the third division.
    https://www.sportbuzzer.de/artikel/holstein-kiel-heinz-morschel-vom-training-freigestellt/

Seems headed for 3rd Liga and it makes sense barely played all season although did well enough in limited game time in 2BL and this Summer Kiel keeps buying and buying players or loaning ones. It was written on the wall.

looks like Mainz will have 99-Kolle and 01-Eyibil training with the 1st team besides Baku, Dahmen, J.Meier, Gurleyen, Akono, Burkardt.

what does the Mainz youth look like? Seems to be
    97-F.Muller
    98-R.Baku, Frommann (on loan), Dahmen
    99-J.Meier, Kolle, Gurleyen
    00-Akono, Burkardt
01-Eybil, Papela, Schonfelder.......wonder about Tauer and Gans too?
02-Nebel, only putting the obvious one for now.

that's 3 GKs listed and 2 LBs in the same age group as both Kolle and J.Meier are LBs. Then between R.Baku, 00-Barreiro (Luxembourg), Papela, Tauer, that's a lot of midfielders.

lol that outside of a missing RB, one can actually create a whole XI from this.

not only is Turkey clubs trying to lure Eyibil they also trying to lure Mercan and Gurleyen. Seriously seems like any German-Turk rated by clubs they will be attempts to lure them to Turkey. Likely also a ploy to try to lure them to Turkish NT as well.

Oliver Bierhoff exclusive: We will change that in the youth work of the DFB

DFB director Oliver Bierhoff plans despite the success of the U21 at the European Championships in Italy and San Marino changes in youth work of the DFB. Especially in two positions, the former international sees acute pent-up demand.

Oliver Bierhoff can not be dazzled by the success of the German U21 at the European Championships. The DFB director plans in the coming months, despite the good appearance of juniors in Italy and San Marino concrete measures to change the youth work in German football sustainable. The clear goal of the 51-year-old: bring more individuality in the too static DFB funding.

Bierhoff gives an example. Recently, he has called on the coaches of the DFB to name the top three talents of each year. "They have been difficult," said the DFB sports director the SPORTBUZZER. "Because it's often too early to anticipate development, at 15 or 16. That's why we're going to push ahead with position-specific training."

Bierhoff: "Consistent problems with strikers and full-backs"
Two positions are particularly worrying for the former international, who became European champion with Germany in 1996 and runner-up in 2002. "We have a lot of problems with the strikers and the full-back positions, and we have stopped there a bit in the last few years, we have been very systematic, we have less individuality and we have to change all that, including courses and training." Already U21 national coach Stefan Kuntz had criticized before the European Championship that there is currently "no Horst Hrubesch" in German football - and therefore completely renounced the nomination of a real striker.
    https://www.sportbuzzer.de/artikel/...ugendarbeit-veranderungen-reaktionen-sturmer/

lots of interesting strikers coming up from 98-onwards, but improving on methods/training is good, should have been done ages ago.As for fullbacks, RB is an issue position. Not sure why some people always make it seem like Waldschmidt/Werner are not real strikers more false 9 (they aren't) when they play striker for their clubs. Sure they aren't the targetman or bigger guys but there are different types of strikers not all are the same. Gotze is your example of not a real striker, not only that but he looks completely out of place as a CF.

what we need for strikers is more of them to really succeed that's been the issue, you look at pre-98 (I'm going pre-98 because those are the ones who are done with U21) and the success isn't that great. And we are losing the older strikers who are 30+ who are either leaving Germany for $$$ or relegation........and where are the replacements for those guys? And the other issue is a lot of the strikers we were dev aren't NT/International quality. So hopefully updating these things will get us more success.

at this rate the pool of strikers seems to be
Stindl, Petersen for your basically 30+
    Werner, Waldschmidt, Selke, Volland,
Fullkrug and Uth are the guys who need to stay fit and consistent.

Waldschmidt is your newest addition. Selke, Fullkrug, Uth, and Stindl all had injury/fitness throughout last season. That's another issue we have soooo many strikers that can't stay fit like at all. From 96-97 a good amount of them always unfit, which once again doesn't help at all to add more names...........

I mean even 98, Serra missed like a full season at some point due to injury. J.Eggestein had like a long term injury which affected his play for basically 2 seasons until the 2018-2019 season where he was more back to normal.

the rest are either not good enough or nowhere near ready.

PS finally that bum Bierhoff admits we cannot rest on our laurels, we need more improvements.

    and finally

"......and we have stopped there a bit in the last few years, we have been very systematic, we have less individuality and we have to change all that, including courses and training."

seriously that was obvious for years, glad to know it'll all change and individuality will be back.

I mean even 98-onwards, the reality is also not every striker will be relevant to the senior NT. But you can still find use for some in the youth NTs. In the end of the day, it's more important to produce strikers good enough for 1BL to increase the player pool. That's the whole point of dev, the min objective should be 1BL even if some strikers will end up being career 2BL players or completely bust and end up in lower levels all career.

it's also helpful for youth NT when we have 1BL or temporary 2BL strikers. It's not bad either if you start off in 2BL if the club is high on the player and they perform only matter of time before they attract interest assuming their clubs don't get 1BL promotions. For 98-99 (could include 00) cycle and 00-01 cycle I don't see any issues in terms of having strikers at the high level, we have enough options. Hope we get no big injuries.in next 2 years and that some of the next season 2BL guys jump to 1BL in 2020-2021.

    Mercan and Can scheduled
For the two former U19 players Münir Mercan and Görkem Can, who were both in the squad, it will continue in the U23 in the future, as Torsten Fröhling clarified: "The two are scheduled for us, but make the first two weeks of training at with the professionals and then come back to us. "
    https://www.reviersport.de/artikel/sieg-im-auftakt-testspiel-fuer-schalkes-u23/

00-Can and 00-Mercan will train with the pros in Summer but to initially start in II to get match practice. So pretty much from last Summer, been saying Kutucu, Can and Mercan are the 1st team prospects from 00 age group. What's annoying is all 3 are German-Turks and Turkey already have 2/3 provisionally capped tied. Once again instead of calling up someone like Can (yet another 00 CB close to 1st team) we called Alonso who is nowhere near the 1st team. And that's why Can who was part of dfb ditched Germany. Could be nice to poach him back if he makes it at Schalke same for Kutucu. And Mercan last involved in end of the season dfb Camp is someone we shouldn't ignore either.
