I have to admit, I've been very impressed. We're performing at a very high level and just went thru a great test with 3 solid opponents:
1st vs Arg - a game where the intensity had to match the confidence that we could win that 1st match. We didn't wait for them to propose the game to us, we brought it to them. Even with an Arg in flux you just know that they can turn it on at any point. That and the fact that for years we have been giving their team a new lease on life after facing some low moments, But not this time!

2nd vs Qat - a game with the Asian champs and a team known to CQ but not to the Colombian players. We dominated possession and always had the intention to score against a team that decided to park the bus. Ultimately, these type of defensive blocks can be a great challenge for any team and we broke thru.

3rd vs Par - a game with almost all subs. You could tell that they didnt synchronize as well as the 'A' team but it does show that we are deep in many positions.

Now the true test. CQ made it to Semis earlier this year losing 3-0 at the Asian Cup at a point where they had been dominating through out the tournament. Hope he learned from that experience and more so that he can pass that knowledge to the players on Friday.

    Queiroz has been wonderful.

I feel Pekerman gave us the mentality, the belief, the can do attitude, and Queiroz kept that going, plus added a lot of tactical variety that was needed. This is a great growth for our national team.

Very well said. We control the tempo of the game. Not Chile, not Uruguay.

Uruguay - the most experienced (or oldest) team of all teams in this tournament - 8 players from 2011 championship team. We gotta keep Suarez and Cavani at bay just like we did with Messi/Aguero/Di Maria. Lodiero is their next most lethal threat along with Lucas Torreira who is their version of Uribe.

Chile - Alexis and Aranguiz are who I have my eye on the most plus Vidal.

We gotta keep tempers down and avoid stupid cards. We don’t stoop to their tactics. Play our game and we’ll do fine.

James and Falcao gave us that.

crzd, I know the you are a pretty clueless man but I want to believe that not even you seriously believe that.

thats the type of thing i'd expect from one of the people who voted on that poll that froboy posted.

Pekerman helped us a lot, and that team leading up to and at 2014 played really well, no one can deny that. He completely changed the way we played and overhauled a team that was underperforming for years, he gets credit for that. 2014-2018 wasn't great and we needed new ideas and to rejuvenate but no one should take away the work he did with the NT leading up to 2014. We absolutely needed change and CQ is doing exactly what this team needed and giving us a style that will give us a chance to take another step to a point where we are a real threat to win trophies.

doesn't mean it makes any sense, right before Pekerman showed up we were on the same path to nothingness with Leonel Alvarez, we showed flashes of brilliance in that game with Bolivia with James' official debut but once it was time to do something different against Argentina, it was just more of the same. The man was out of his depth.

    No

Leonel only won a ********ing game because falcao that was sub scored in last minutes (only 10 minutes after being named by guardiola the best 9 of the world...)

Then he managed to lose points in barranauilla with venezuela and argentina after start winning the game...his chganes were terrible

With bolillo and leonel we wouldnt quailfy to world cup.....

Players never have been a guarantee of results... ask the guys that playes the wcq in 2010 ....give all credits to players is lack of knowledge of the game.

Before pekerman we didnt have a starting team because leonel and bolillo thought that guys like the tronco of gustavo bolivar, vallejo, diego chara, arias....deserved more minutes of falcao.

If colombia built a team was because pekerman select with the logic...that bolillo, lara, leonel didnt have. According to them bolivar was more important than falcao

Completely agree on Pekerman. He gave you 2 great WC's, both past group stage, one of which is Colombia's best WC participation (quarters in 2014).

On Carlos Queiroz, he is just starting with Colombia, and the main reason why he has had a great run till now, is in great part due to what Pekerman left him to work with.
Still got to see, if after 2 or 3 more years with him in charge on the ship, Colombia gets better and wins things, or if at certain moment, starts to decline.
