They made nearly 126 million from being in the EPL last year and finishing 10th. It’s not pennies but it’s a lot either. Now if they got relegated or gained a spot in Europe that would cause a large swing one way or the other for a loss of or gain of certain TV rights.
Maybe tho with the market as it is unlikely but it still requires them to develop em and that never been a Newcastle specialty.
Press reports Newcastle announcing that Rafa will leave when his contract expires at the end of the month. Not surprise, but it's not good for Andre. Rafa is an exceptionally meticulous coach who knows how to make a given player better and weld them into a unit that is far greater than the sum of its component parts. Andre has become a much better player, but the new guy is very unlikely to be as good or attract the players the club needs to improve and avoid relegation
https://www.teamtalk.com/news/exclu...act-with-38-year-old-coach-to-replace-benitez this is one of the craziest things ive ever read in my life
I spit my damn water all over my screen. I laughed so hard. As a Rapids STH....... the notion of Hudson walking through those doors and poisoning everything is mind-boggling. I know Mike Ashley is an idiot but is he really that stupid for interviewing Hudson?? Apparent he is
It's a'right, 'Dre sometimes forgets his D as well... Kinda stunning they're going to let Rafa go. DY was lucky to get a few years with him anyway.
Sure - and who knows the terms - but if Rafa is interested in staying, and it seems he is, he got to be really risking your bottom line to trade him in for some guy from wherever...
Why in the world would Rafa stick around to work for Ashley? I'm pretty impressed that he didn't try to force his way out. Now NUFC have pulled together a team capable of playing a quasi-possession style for Rafa (bad for DY), they're going to get a new coach, probably one who won't care about playing that way (good for DY?). Too bad for Almiron, I think. I predict a lot of frustration for him. DY was lucky to get him, DY was lucky to get Big Sam, but they were lucky to have DY too. He seems like he's turning into a model, if limited, pro. And I think he's yet to land with a team that can use him optimally (up and down the wing creating and recovering from chaos).
He was probably making significant demands around transfer budget. I wouldn't blame him but I suspect the gap is great with Ashley.
Well sounds like Rafa is moving to the Chinese Super League to replace Choi Kang-hee in Dalian Yi-fang (the Blue Hawks of Dalian) for the 2020 season. The Chinese are making moves to replace all the Asian coaches left in their league with top UEFA/C-BOL ones, since they got the $$$. https://www.skysports.com/football/...chinese-super-league-offer-from-dalian-yifang
I'm sure he ain't cheap - esp since he's headed to China, apparently. But it did sound like he wanted to try to stay. Ah well. Not my issue! Hope DY heals well and can get back to it 100%.
Shameless Twitter-trolling from Netflix UK & Ireland “If there’s any Newcastle fans who want cheering up, here’s a quick reminder that Sunderland Til I Die is still streaming on Netflix UK and Ireland.” Ouch!
The Guardian's North-East football writer has a great write-up of the situation and how it developed. The article is worth reading but this graf sums it up: Newcastle are left seeking a new manager able to reprise Benítez’s feat in somehow avoiding relegation by coaxing one of the Premier League’s weakest squads into significant overachievement. That newcomer can expect to meet closed hearts and minds on Tyneside. The emotional barriers threaten to be formidable; whoever they are and however good they may be, they will not be Rafa Benítez. https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...z-control-freaks-newcastle-united-mike-ashley
