Oh I just realized no one posted this: https://sbisoccer.com/2019/04/palmer-brown-misses-midweek-clash-with-knee-injury Erik Palmer-Brown did not get to celebrate his 22nd birthday on the pitch Wednesday for NAC Breda. The Manchester City loanee missed Breda’s 4-0 home loss to Feyenoord due to a knee injury. Palmer-Brown was substituted off at halftime on Sunday as Breda lost 2-1 at Fortuna Sittard. [...] There is no timetable for Palmer-Brown’s return to the starting XI. Breda will face Heerenveen and FC Zwolle in their final two league matches of the season.
It's realistic to conclude NAC goes down to replace FC Twente, that returns next season into the Eredivisie. Compared to NAC that's a major upgrade in quality. One cannot expect NAC to win the last two matches at the same time that Excelsior has to lose their last two.
Erik Palmer-Brown is back from injury and will be available for the last two Eredivisie games of this season for NAC Breda. https://t.co/xjtfeLvUCo— USMNT Only (@usmntonly) May 9, 2019
There's a chance if Brooks is out, but my gut says no. He wasn't given a role by Dave or GGG, and GGG apparently prefers the MLS guys anyway.
Does his play this season merit a callup? Not being critical, honest question. How would the forum evaluate his performance on loan this season? When looking at CBs, how did he stack up in his performance compared to other CB Yanks Abroad (to keep it YA focused): Brooks, Miazga, CCV, Ream? It may be a question that needs to wait until the true end of the season, but always good fodder to evaluate seasons, especially when loans are involved. Without delving into it much more, I would probably list him 5th of those 5 CBs in Europe based on performance this year.
He should reasonably be brought into the camp. He has chemistry with the other Young Guns (if nothing else).
It really is questionable to evaluate this season he had. He was almost all matches rated as poor, but this season this club had a gross disfunctional selection and a large number of injuries on top of that. It's impossible to judge if his poor play is his fault or is it induced by the abysmal circumstances ManCity plunged him in.
Played 90 today, and with Breda losing 2-1 and Excelsior winning away 4-5, EPB becomes officially our 4th Yank Abroad to go down this season.
For those still believing the Dutch leagues arenot watched closely by the big leagues. According to Voetbal International foreign clubs are after a very young defender in our second division: https://www.vi.nl/nieuws/europese-topclubs-zitten-achter-mvv-talent-mbuyamba-aan "Xavier Mbuyamba is bezig aan zijn laatste weken in dienst van MVV Maastricht. Xavier Mbuyamba is busy with his final weeks in the service of MVV Maastricht. The only seventeen-year-old defender broke through this season in the first team of the Limburg club and has aroused the interest of many a top club. Mbuyamba, for example, is currently visiting the very interested Chelsea. 'He will be training with different teams in the coming days to see where he should enter in terms of level. That can be the Under-17, Under-18, Under-19 or Under-23. Chelsea has already indicated that they would like to sign him in, "said Carlos Barros of Prestige Sports when asked by Voetbal International. Initially, Mbuyamba, not holding a professional contract with MVV, focused on a longer stay in Maastricht. 'But MVV waited a long time to make an offer. When the proposal was there, Xavier was suddenly put on the bench because he did not immediately put his signature. That attitude has made us look around us. A pity, because he would have liked to play with MVV in the second division for another one or two years. ' With its 1.95 meter, Mbuyamba is a striking appearance. In November 2018 the central defender made his debut in the first team of MVV at the age of sixteen, after which ten more gigs followed. A striking achievement for a player at that age, but it is mainly foreign clubs that have him in sight. Celtic, Porto FC, Bayern Munich and Liverpool are also above average interested." Well, at least if EPB still is with NAC Breda next season he knows even there top clubs are watching. Top Clubs Watching DUTCH Defenders In The Second League

Even Young NAC was scouted by Barcelona. De belangen van zijn Mike van Beijnen worden door Kenan Mert behartigd. google translate: van Beijnen to Barça B The fact that Mike van Beijnen had been sentenced to competitions with Jong NAC on Monday night last season did not prevent Barcelona from incorporating the right back for the B-team that will play at the third Spanish level. The Breda man signs a two-year contract with an option for an additional year and, following Ludovit Reis (FC Groningen), will be the second Dutchman to play in the Segunda Division B on behalf of Barcelona B this season. The transition from Van Beijnen from Young NAC to the Catalan superpower can certainly be called startling. The Spanish national champion says that a transfer clause of 100 million euros has been included in the agreement with the defender. The father of Van Beijnen (20), Ali Dursun, is also the agent of Frenkie de Jong, who was taken over by FC Barcelona from Ajax for a record amount of 86 million. Today (Thursday) Dursun stayed in Utrecht to attend the presentation of Tommy van Butselaar, the 16-year-old striker who was taken over by FC Utrecht from NAC and whom he supervised; he was therefore not present at the official presentation of his son in Barcelona. The interests of his Mike van Beijnen are represented by Kenan Mert.
Isn't there some controversy about Barca signing this guy just because he's friends with one of the dutch guys (I forget if it's Frenkie or De Ligt)?
Wait so people are complaining that he got a Barca B contract? So what if it was favoritism for an agent. It's still just a Barca B contract.
