Tough draw for them given they may lose some key players. I haven't seen much news about who might be coming into the team.
clasie to PSV would have made sense. Bruma and riedewald loan as well. but I think for that they need to ship out some players.
I thought wtf but it turns out to be somebody else Bruma geeft jawoord aan PSV 10.34 uur PSV zal binnen afzienbare tijd de Portugese aanvaller Bruma aantrekken. De 24-jarige buitenspeler heeft zijn jawoord gegegeven aan de Eindhovenaren.
PSV is kicking off their season with a home qualifying match vs. FC Basel tonight!! Difficult task as Basel has been a regular customer in the Champions League. Expected PSV XI: Zoet, Dumfries, Luckassen, Viergever, Sadílek; Rosario, Bergwijn, Hendrix; Lozano, Malen, Bruma A significantly weaker PSV side compared to last season... no Luuk De Jong, Angelino, Schwaab, and Pereiro. Looks like Sadilek (a midfielder) will be deployed at left-back, and Bergwijn (winger) as a "10"... interesting experiments, to say the least. Central defense is a concern area for Van Bommel, as it was last season. Disappointing that a replacement for Schwaab has not been identified, and Luckassen (who barely got any minutes last season on loan to Bundesliga) will be thrown to a line of fire early on!
Obispo is on loan to Vitesse. I really donot get why he wasnot given minutes with the first team to learn last season.
PSV is reportedly going after a German CD Timo Baumgartl. Never heard of him before, but a quick research told me that he was capped several times at Germany U21 level. He would be a good reinforcement, couldn't be worse than Luckassen. Van Bommel missed big time on Pierie and V.d. Berg. Both players had plenty of Eredivisie experience, and could have bolstered defense. Either would walk straight in to the starting line up. Another interesting option would be to loan CD's who have desire of more playing time, somebody like Van Drongelen or Fosu-Mensah. I don't know if they view Eredivisie is challenging enough, but if PSV qualifies for UCL group stage, this might change the calculus.
They need quality in their central midfield area and who can become the catalyst for the highly rated forwards. Offensively the current ones are hood but defensively they havevto be on the same page as well.
Wouldnot it have been better if PSV had waited with the transfer of de Jong until they made it into the CL? The gain of the transfer sum is now wiped out by the loss of the CL millions.
I guess so as I did not see him listed on the team sheet. Too bad, he is the kind of player that they needed.
Turns out that Lammers suffered a sever knee injury in the Cruyff match when collided with Malen. He had surgery to repair the damage and will be out some number of months. Really too bad to hear this.
Lozano went off injured... looked pretty awful. Doubt his transfer will go through if he goes on an extended leave. Ironically, I thought today was one of his best performances in a while, although was still not anywhere close to the level that he's capable of. Van Bommel ruined PSV (again!) with his double-pivot of Rosario and Guti. Both are pretty useless on the ball. PSV badly needs Ihattaren in the center of the field. Or move Sadilek there. Bergwijn did admirably well "in the hole"... he's all over the pitch, and his speed was devastating, but needs to limit his pathetic long-distance shot. Gakpo stood out for me when he was on... definitely knows how to utilize those lanky feet, smooth and pacey. Could also whip crosses with power and accuracy. The one to watch out if Lozano is out for some time.
Looks like the injury of Lozano isnot very bad, unlike that of Pereiro, who suffered a broken collar bone.
PSV 2 Heracles 0. Arguably the most complete PSV match so far of the season. Bergwijn opened the score with an excellent first goal... receiving ball deep, turning away from defenders, dribbling to create himself a space and firing an emphatic long distance shot. Finally, he's got one from distance... he's been shooting a lot in his new central role this season. And, what a way to celebrate a new contract extension! Mo Ihattaren started, played wider than usual (to make room for Bergwijn to operate in the center). A bit jittery at times but worked incredibly hard to impress his manager. Scored a well-taken second goal. Gakpo played fine, a few good moments with his soft touches and speedy dribbling. Malen seemingly had an off day. Lozano was nowhere to be seen... reportedly he will undergo medical on Tuesday ahead of his move to Napoli. Van Bommel should be pleased with this result... this could finally jump-start the season for him. The LB still needs some work. I like Sadilek generally speaking, he's quite technical and plays with intent. But he's out of position at LB and has got burned several times this season. Hopefully Lozano's transfer sum would be used widely.
I am glad with what PSV did yesterday. The fact that the team really thrived yesterday with the introduction of Gakpo & Ihattaren to the starting line-up aside with Bregwijn & Malen is really refereshing. A 4 gifted young Dutch players who can do wonders if vBommel finds a good chemistry between them.
Yeah, as with AZ it is important to get through to the group stage for these kids for their maturing in high quality matches against ruthless oppononents.

City PSV huurt talentvolle Franse middenvelder Claudio Gomes van Manchester City Wtf is PSV doing? They have at Young PSV due to injuries a weak defensive composition of the midfield. They hire this guy to mend that. Are they at PSV losing their mind and the plot? Young PSV isnot ment to be a competition team that has to be up to the limit to compete. They can't relegate nor promote. It's a vehicle to train young talents in combatting with adults and apply what they learn in practice against pro players that arenot keen (it's their living) on being nice guys. So it there's a temporary hole in some positions you push up players of a younger age category FROM YOUR OWN KIDS. They than collect valuable experience. This is wasting valuable development space and time on ManCity frauds.
Ayayayay...PSV infuriates Dutch people with a Dutch - Indies back ground like the Moluccans and Indo's. They used the War flag of the Japanese in a cartoon to celebrate the signing of Doan. That flag symbolises for the Dutch-Indies the war crimes of Japan. Some people compare the flag in that cartoon with using the swastika.
Rik Elfrink 20-07-20, 16:20 Laatste update: 16:21
PSV new goalie (Mvogo) is a disaster... another blunder today, made it 2 in 2 opening games after last week's error. Luckily PSV came away with full three points in those games. Looks like PSV finally found a good LB (Max). Also Rosario is playing with a newfound sense of urgency - he dominated the midfield in two games. Malen was industrious game today. No goal, but he was everywhere and got into some good positions. Gakpo and Ihattaren, OTOH, were very poor - much lower standard than what they're capable of. Madueke continued to impress.
