The only tough team in the group. Good prep for the nads as well. Mexico 3-0

Canada look solid this cycle. I think they have a good chance of getting to the Hex.

It'd be a huge disappointment if they don't. They have a very talented side, at least in comparison with CONCACAF.

Looking forward to this game against Mexico. It will be a very good test for Canada but I expect, brutal for our defense.

I’m not too familiar with your team, what players does Mexico have to look out for besides Davies?

This is the golden age for Canada offensively
    • Alphonso Davies, Bayern Munich (1G in 6 games for Bayern, Reigning golden boot from last Gold Cup when he was 16.
    • 19 years old Jonathan David, Gent (12G, 33 games with Gent & 6G, with Canada). He might become a bigger star than Davies.
    • Lucas Cavallini, Puebla (24G, 58 games). There's been rumors about La Liga clubs and Monterrey being interested in him
    • 19 years old Liam Millar, Liverpool U23 (1G, 13 games with loan club Kilmarnock in Scottish Premiership). He has the same style as Davies and was the man of the match when he debut for Canada against New Zealand at 18.
    • Junior Hoilett, Cardiff City. Quality winger who was in EPL
    • Scott Arfield, Rangers (11G in 29 games). He's the captain of the team and is a EPL level midfield. He played at Burnley and left for Rangers. He's the major reason why our midfield upgraded significantly since he joined us.
Canada v Trinidad & Tobago (we didn't struggle like the USMNT did in the last WCQ :))

In goals we have Milan Borjan, Red Star Belgrade. He excelled in Champions League and even stopped clubs like Liverpool.

This is the highlight of last game to give you an idea. We can play a creative and attractive style of football now but you will notice massive weakness we have defensively.

I totally expect Mexico to win this game, our defense can't withstand your office for 90 minutes.

Crazy when non nads and non Iranians post about their teams. It’s like dealing with rational
    People who think.

Thank you. It's a sharp contrast from Americans on this board who gets so aggresive if a Canadian dares point out the flaws of MLS and the USMNT.

    They think I'm crazy ;)

Our new domestic league, the Canadian Premier League (CPL) took lots of inspiration from Liga MX. We have your version of Apertura and Clausura and have 1000 minutes mandatory for Canadians U20 players.

We learn from the best in the region

Even our media are seeing the league for what it truly is...

Nice to see you guys have your own domestic league now

What does it mean for Canadian MLS clubs like Toronto & Vancouver though? Will they stay in MLS or eventually switch to the Canadian league?

The league was started as a project by current CONCACAF president Victor Montagliani who's a Canadian. He did so after Canada was eliminated from 2014 Brazil when he was elected as Canada Soccer Association president.

He wasn't a fan of MLS when he led the CSA. He even threatened MLS from striping them of the CSA sanctioning allowing them to operate in Canada if the league didn't change it's roster rules that discriminated against Canadians.

A few things to understand about MLS in Canada
    • The 3 Canadians clubs are in MLS because they are using a FIFA article stating that only under exceptional circumstances, a club may compete in another country's league. Since there was domestic leagues in Canada, USSF expanded their presence in Canada using that clause.
    • The 3 Canadian clubs needs the sanctioning of FIFA, CONCACAF, USSF & CSA to allow them to compete in MLS. If the CSA, CONCACAF or FIFA says no, the 3 clubs cannot compete in MLS
    • Montagliani problem with MLS was that Americans are considered "domestics". Canadians are "domestics" only on Canadian clubs. On USA clubs, Canadians counts as "Internationals" despite the league operating in Canada. As you can see, it was a blatant discrimination against Canadian players for years limiting their opportunities in the league.
    • Montagliani reacted and threatened to "desanction" MLS Canada and started to work towards Canada's Division 1 league, Canadian Premier League. MLS caved and changed some of their rules by counting Canadian players from MLS academies as "domestics". Americans on this board use the law as an excuse but they can somehow amend roster rules when you press them...NASL & USL have been counting Canadians as "domestics" the entire time.
    • MLS in Canada was supposed to help the Canadian program (that's shame on us). But we ended up stalling and regressing. Montagliani had enough
    • As CONCACAF president, Montagliani made the push to force Ottawa Fury out of USL due to CPL existing. CONCACAF no longer recognize the "exceptional clause" in thei case. All Ontario PDL teams were pulled and forced to joined League 1 Ontario (D3)
    • To answer your question, CONCACAF and the CSA have the power to desanction MLS from Canada. However, the approach is to have CPL grow to the point that it makes business sense for the 3 teams to join which I think wont happen until after the 2026 World Cup.

3 changes. All in midfield. Fullbacks are still trash.
