In theory yes. It would actually make sense for him to spend on talent for when he opens the new stadium. The deposits are refundable and not locked in so he has to give them hope. Now I'll believe he signs the little pea when I see it at the press conference. The LA teams would make more sense or maybe Chicago. I'd bet that Chicharito is on a current MLS team's discovery list but it doesn't cost Precourt anything to talk big.
It's not clear. The story said he'd continue to represent the club, at least for public purposes. Is he now on contract or something? I wouldn't be surprised if he got tired of dealing with south Florida politicians.
I kind of always knew he would sell most if not all of his shares. Looking back, in 12 years time since he signed the initial contract, I think he has made a killing and really milked the league. That’s great for him as he really didn’t do all that much other than play in 98 games, scoring 18 goals.
Now Now I see your a Quakes fan but that is a bit unfair. He did give MLS a major bust to their profile and stature. But yeah he was overrated.
I really thought he would at least wait until they had played a year or two. This makes me wonder if he is having doubts that it will ever really happen. He has publicly stated that he almost walked away in the past.
Considering all the time and money spent on him, Landon and Robbie Keane did a lot more than Beckham ever did and weren't paid nearly a fraction of what Becks got. If he could get $255 million plus whatever the expansion cost of the club is or will be while recording 18 goals and 40 assists, what would Chris Wondolowski deserve? I'd say at least a few mil......
I believe I read after everything was said and done with salary and endorsements, he actually ended up with $255 million. That includes his loan spells to Milan when he got injured. Not sure if it included his expansion franchise though.
Just FYI, the team is saying there is no truth to the rumor that Beckham is selling his shares. https://sports.yahoo.com/inter-miami-refutes-report-claiming-211612027.html
Although there is quite a spread in salaries for the national team, I remember when $444K wasn't considered the league average.
Just saying, my gaydar still goes off when I hear him talk. But I'm single, so I accept my gaydar may be horribly off.
You don't have to go back very far at all. Just read in the thread on the most recent MLS salaries that "The average salary for senior roster non-designated players increased 13.3 percent to $345,867 and is up from $138,140 in 2014".
Poor Servando Carrasco., a 9 year MLS veteran...I heard he is making $70k this year. Luckily he has his wife, Alex Morgan supporting him.....
