I hope Sam Kerr scores for my Fantasy football team, but at the same time I don't want Australia to catch up with Italy at the top of Group C.

Of course I will watch the other game. :p Enjoy! :D

As sensational as her saved PK was, maybe the mistakes vs Girelli had their weigh on this change.

Or maybe the coach just wanted to give a taste of the WWC to McClure also! :p

It’s about time Cheyna Matthews comes on! She’s their second best forward, after Bunny

09' 0-0 Gray spins ccw past Roestbakken to 2m wide right, cross to 3m right post, Ld.Williams catches.

11' 0-1 De Vanna holds at 6m wide left, backpass to Gielnik at 30m wide left. Right instep cross inswings to 12m left post, Kerr steps away to box top 1/4 left with inside position on C.Swaby, then sidesteps to ball (and judges it perfectly). Twist-header bloops over C.Swaby, mini-lobs McClure diving back from 4m center, drops over her into back left low.

15' 0-1 Shaw turns Roestbakken down wide right to 2m, cross to 5m center, Kennedy heads back into near touch.

25' 0-1 Gielnik cross from 25m box right to Kerr facing away, standing unmarked  at 14m right post. Kerr stoops away to ball, flick header to crossbar center, McClure backpedals and pushes it over bar.

31' 0-1 Matthews plants to cut right at 15m mid-left, her left toes slip out backward and she sprawls down.

37' 0-1 Carpenter backpass under pressure, Williams rushes a clearance kick beyond Carpenter up wide right. Carpenter races Shaw to it, Shaw reaches and accidentally steps on ball with left foot, loses footing and sit-falls through Carpenter's legs, taking both flat into far touch. Foul, no card.

41' 0-1 Grey left ck, to Shaw at 6m left post(??), header goes just wide left.

42' 0-2 van Egmond passes to Gorry at arc top box right, Gorry turns without pressure and crosses to 6-top center. Kerr somehow goes unmarked right down centerline between Plummer and A.Swaby widely split, hop-heads down into 1/4 right back low with McClure shuffling centerward away from ball.

Australia outnumbered Jamaica 3-2 in their own 6, Plummer and A.Swaby had their 2 covered, nobody picked up Kerr. That must be the fullbacks' error: Campbell and Blackwood weren't in the picture, which overworked the CBs.

    HT 0-2. Jamaica 3(0)-(4)7 shots(sog), 1-3 corners, 2-0 offsides, 4-4 fouls, 12-3 tackles, 27-5 clearances, 39% possession, 72% (81/113) - (256/298) 86% passing.

46' 0-2 Jamaica subs in (1 of 3) #6 Havana Solaun for #15 Tiffany Cameron.

49' 1-2 Shaw rips ball away from van Egmond at circle back left, turns upfield and counters to 36m arc left. Perfect through-ball pierces Australia's high line to 15m left post, Solaun races Williams coming out, touches past her right hand and hops over her, to 9m 6-left. Solaun shoots medium power flat across mouth, perfectly behind Roestbakken overpursuing to goalline center, in front of Catley, rolls just inside right post low. Jamaica's 1st-ever WWC goal!

50' 1-2 Matthews jukes down to 9m mid-right, right foot shot across mouth toward left 90, Williams dives and blocks it wide left.

52' 1-2 Shaw outraces Catley down wide right, outpaces her through arc top box right as Catley falls, alone through box top right to 12m mid-right, shoots right foot on the run just over right 90.

59' 1-2 Australia subs in (1 of 3) #9 Caitlin Foord for #15 Emily Gielnik.
59' 1-2 Jamaica subs in (2 of 3) #18 Trudi Carter for #20 Cheyna Matthews.

59' 1-2 Blackwood fk at ~arc top wide left, to 12m center. Shaw jumps facing own back left corner, back-header goes just wide left low.

63' 1-2 Australia subs in (2 of 3) #16 Hayley Raso for #11 Lisa De Vanna.

63' 1-2 Shaw breaks away through 30m box right to 11m mid-right, shoots right instep bend across mouth, outswings wide left.

65' 1-2 Shaw cuts inside past Roestbakken to 15 mid-right, shoots right foot on the run, wide right and high. A bit too much solo effort, but -- Australia know she's coming, and they still can't stop her!

69' 1-3 Carpenter square pass left to Raso at 25m box right. Raso dribbles to box top right, poke down box right rattles off Blackwood and C.Swaby, sits at 16m box right. Raso darts in, takes ball and goes to 6m mid-right. Cross to 5m left post, Campbell inexplicably squeezes knees together and reflects ball off her thighs, back across box to Kerr standing unmarked at 5m 1/3 left. Kerr settles, shoots under McClure's right hand into back left low. Kerr hat trick is Australia's 1st-ever WWC hat trick, and -- Jamaica's 3rd straight hat trick conceded

72' 1-3 Jamaica subs in (3 of 3) #10 Jody Brown for #23 Mireya Grey.

83' 1-4 Plummer simple backpass from arc top box (her) left to McClure at 6-top left, Kerr lopes to apply token pressure. McClure turns and motions as if to pass square right -- but muffs the kick, it trickles away to 6-top right post. Kerr wins the race, slides past McClure and kicks into 1/4 left back low. What a catastrophe -- and Australia leapfrog Brasil into 2nd on GD :alien:

85' 1-4 Shaw shoots right instep bend from ~arc top left to right post, Williams catches.

So, apparently Kerr is single-handedly trying to drop Jamaica to the bottom of the all-tournament rankings... Looks like they'll be the only team aside from Thailand to have a double-digit-negative GD, and Thailand still has a chance to earn a point or three...

87' 1-4 Australia subs in (3 of 3) #3 Aivi Luik for #19 Katrina Gorry.

FT 1-4. Australia clinch advancement, might yet finish 2nd. NWSL fans know about Kerr scoring 4 (against my team :D), it's fitting to see her do it on the big stage. She could do this for a few more cycles!

    I can hear you.

    Some interesting stuff:

    1) Everyone had Morgan already running away with Golden Boot: what about that, now? :p

    2) Sam Kerr... (hold on)... was today the captain of my Fantasy WWC team!!!:laugh::laugh: I lost count of how many points she earned for me! :ROFLMAO:

Just out of curiosity: I didn't watch this game, but it looked like it could be the perfect one for Kerr to celebrate with her trademark somersault. Did she do it?

No backflip today. Jamaica aren't high enough on the threat scale yet.

Kerr saves the backflip for big moments, like a result-changing score against a top team in a tournament. If she turns a loss to a draw and then a draw to a win in the QFs, and she's not dead tired yet ... then she might deign to look down upon the ground :barefoot:

Well, I had the impression that a poker at the WWC could anyway be a big moment indeed, despite Jamaica's weakness. After all, Morgan counted the goals on her fingers vs Thailand, didn't she? :sneaky::laugh:

But I see a potential rivalry with Morgan at that also! :giggle:

Most of those people probably assumed she'd have the chance to add to her total against Chile. Instead, she didn't play a single minute. As of right now, Morgan has the minutes ratio and assists advantage. (Those are two tiebreakers I recall being used in the past.)

Edit: As Gilmoy mentioned, Jamaica already let two players score three goals against them at this World Cup. It's not entirely surprising that Australia's star striker got 4 on them.

Happy Jamaica got a goal at least. They were drawn into a tough group. Something to work on to qualify for 2023.

Well, even if Morgan had played, she would have found that scoring to Endler is more difficult than scoring to Boonsing. ;) (As if: "It's not entirely surprising that USA's star striker got 5 on Thailand").
