why exactly would he get chances? their 1st and 2nd GKs can still play and his lack of chances are more due to too much competition that he can't beat.

And yet the article even states how he could "still opt" for the German national team. Go figure...

yeah even the end makes sound still open.

but that he couldn't impress at Hertha and the club rates GKs who are younger than him, makes it unlikely he would ever be relevant for Germany.

If you're gonna "lose" a player to the Austrian Bundesliga, maybe go ahead and lose that player...

According to one source, a transfer to St. Gallen will happen early this week.

The ghost of Frankie Heydude in the house! (If you're gonna play in a 2nd tier Euro league, the shores of Lake Constance are not a bad place to do it...)

So he'll be replacing Daniel Lopar as their #2 behind Stojanović, right?

    -Signed a 2 year contract
-Wants to be #1 as fast as possible

Since the departure of Daniel Lopar FC St.Gallen was looking intensively for a goalkeeper in addition to Dejan Stojanovic. This one is now found with Jonathan Klinsmann.

"With Jonathan, we've signed a young, talented and ambitious goalkeeper. We are in a very good position with him and Dejan Stojanovic. With a healthy rivalry and mutual support needed for this position, both goalies can benefit enormously. "

his desire to become #1 as fast as possible and the rivalry bit. Does sound like he could be #2. Not shocking he went to St Gallen who has a German coach in Zeidler who seems to already know Klinsmann Jr. Sounds like yet another move from his part due to connections.....

they've already moved up 19 year old GK strubi as #3 GK.

if he does end up #2, wonder if he was better off just trying to breakthrough MLS instead of turning 23 next season and still no real breakthrough.

I think he’s more likely to breakthrough at a European club with German connections than at MLS. He’s not really a can’t-miss prospect in any of these leagues.

I thought they were ranked at #12th or something.

It's not a bad spot for him. Hopefully by season's end he can get the no.1 spot.

They've been dropping for three or four seasons, they're #17 right now and projected #18 for 2020:

I'm rooting for the kid but I like my thread titles funny.

recurring thing one sees is how much Klinsmann Jr wants to play for USA at the Olympics in 2020 (assuming qualification). Seems like that's one reason why he really really wants to be #1 in a new club.

Does he stand a fair chance or would Scott and Ochoa lock in that role?

Marcinkowski should have been starting anyway, better keeper. He will get the olympic nod most likely.
