03' 0-0 Norway right ck, inswings to 2m 1/4 left, headed away. While ball was in flight, Cho Sohyun bearhugs Thorisdóttir from behind at 4m center, levers her off her feet and lets go as she falls over backward. Foul, penalty yellow card on Cho. 05' 0-1 Graham Hansen pk, right instep pass into back left low, past Kim Minjung's dive. The earliest pk goal in a WWC ever A penalty is awarded and Norway take the lead!!!Hansen sends it home and puts Norway out in front just five minutes into the match. pic.twitter.com/8WSTW9N5vz— FOX Soccer (@FOXSoccer) June 17, 2019
It's my destiny today that goals happen in the match that I decided not to watch! Anyway, I manage to catch the PK Graham Hansen scores for Norway at 5'. I didn't catch many replays of the foul, but it looks like it was some kind of brawl in the box from a set piece. Hansen placed her penalty perfectly, powerful and accurate, despite the GK diving to the right side!
08' 0-1 Ji Soyun steals from Graham Hansen at 25m arc right, touches to 15m arc right, shoots right instep just over right 90. 09' 0-1 Graham Hansen left ck, to 4m left post, Mjelde outjumps behind Jang Selgi and heads wide left over goal. Korea are getting outmassed a bit on ck defense. 15' 0-1 Norway pass from midfield arc left through 35m, Herlovsen is 1m offside and 5m+ alone through box top arc left, to 11m left post. Left instep shot across mouth, Kim Minjung kick-saves away to arc right. Graham Hansen runs on and shoots low wide left, blocked by a defender's foot at 10m left post. AR lifts the late offside flag, can't help giggling about it.
19' 0-1 Ji cuts back centerward at 25m arc left, Engen two-handed shoves her off ball, Ji's feet slide out backward and she sprawls down flat. Foul on Engen. 20' 0-1 Ji fk at 25m arc left, into the wall. Moon Mira touches to 22m mid-right, shoots left instep bend, blocked off a back. RB Kang Chaerim Korea crosses from box top wide right to 5m right post just over Yeo Minji's head, Bøe Risa glance-heads just past Hjelmseth's hand, through 3m left post just past Lee Geummin's slide-poke try, into far touch. What a chance for South Korea!!!Lee Geum-min just misses the cross as South Korea continue to put the pressure on Norway. pic.twitter.com/JsgN6h9N6V— FOX Soccer (@FOXSoccer) June 17, 2019 22' 0-1 Cho Sohyun chips from arc top mid-left to 6m center, Moon Mira backheads up centerline, Hjelmseth catches face-high.
I really hope that Norway's just saving their legs for next game having 1-0 lead cuz atm they look pretty slow...and out of depth.
Norway can't win the group unless they score a ton of goals, so they might slow down now as long as they keep they lead.
31' 0-1 Moon Mira turns at 13m center, quick shot just over crossbar. 34' 0-1 Lee Geummin turns at 12m 6-left, rushed high right roundhouse goes down into ground instead of forward, bounces softly to 1m 2-left, Hjelmseth collects. 35' 0-1 Ji Soyun shoots right instep bend from ~arc left to right post 1/3 high, Hjelmseth catches. 36' 0-1 Korea long cross to 6m 1/5 right for Yeo Selgi, Hjelmseth comes out through Mjelde jump-drifting backward, double-punches away but clips Mjelde in the left side of her head. Mjelde stays down, stoppage for head injury. 37' 0-1 Mjelde walks off unassisted ... and returns?
40' 0-1 Cho Sohyun and Reiten jump back-to-back at (Korea's) circle top box right, knock heads, both go down. Cho pops back up, Reiten stays down. 41' 0-1 Both walk into near touch, both return. 41' 0-1 Yeo Minji receives facing away at 23m mid-right, Thorisdóttir reaches across and kicks both calves. Foul. 44' 0-1 Utland jumps toward a dropping ball at 26m left post, Ji Soyun touches ball first and runs into Utland landing. Foul on Utland. 45' 0-1 Ji Soyun fk at 26m left post, right foot rising way over. +2'.
HT 0-1. Korea Republic 14(4)-(1)4 shots(sog), 3-2 corners, 0-3 offsides, 4-6 fouls, 21-5 clearances, 58% possession, 77% (139/181) - (104/144) 72% passing. Korea really felt the urgency.
I watched replay of PK action. Cho had her arms around waist of Thorisdottir alright but Norwegian throwed herself to the ground in theatrical dive - fine acting skills I must say. Norway gets PK, Cho gets YC. In first half Thorisdottir made 3 fouls (one from behind) didn't even get finger waving.
46' 0-1 Norway subs in (1 of 3) #21 Karina Sævik for #11 Lisa-Marie Utland. 48' 0-1 Yeo Minji shoots from 10m mid-left through Mjelde's legs across mouth, Hjelmseth dives away from left post and catches. 49' 0-1 Graham Hansen dribbles from 27m center through box top right to 8m, Kang Chaerim slides poorly and takes her left ankle out. Foul, pk, stoppage for injury. By rule, Graham Hansen could receive quick treatment and return to take the kick herself ... but no. 51' 0-2 Herlovsen pk, right instep to 1/5 left low, Kim Minjung dives and double-blocks ball into own left side netting low. Guessed right, but couldn't push it wide. Isabell Herlovsen makes it 2-0 Norway! She sends home the penalty and picks up her 61st international goal - third most all-time for #NOR. #FIFAWWC pic.twitter.com/WipuUZ3GUD— FOX Soccer (@FOXSoccer) June 17, 2019
54' 0-2 Norway subs in (2 of 3) #18 Frida Maanum for #10 Caroline Graham Hansen. 64' 0-2 Minde dribbles to 1m 6-left, backpass to 9m right post. Sævik runs on and hop-volleys over a sliding clearance try, wide left. 64.min: Strålende norsk angrep. Minde finner til slutt Sævik, som skyter utenfor fra få meters hold. Stor sjanse! #KORNOR— Fotballandslaget (@nff_landslag) June 17, 2019 We know what "skyter" means it's the same in every language 69' 0-2 Norway subs in (3 of 3) #7 Elise Thorsnes for #9 Isabell Herlovsen.
Second PK for Norway, and second goal, this time by Herlovsen. Korean GK once again dove to the correct side and even touched the ball, but couldn't save: two perfectly taken PKs. Why people was booing while the PK was taken? From replays it seemed to me that the call was quite correct: a reckless tackle on Graham Hansen in the box that went completely wrong.
A ton of goals? For Norway to win the group, France have to lose today, which would make their goal differential at most +4. At 1-0, Norway's goal differential was +3, and now their goal differential is +4. Norway just need one more goal and a France loss. It might not be likely, but Norway don't need to score a lot to top the group.
A lot of one sided calls. A lot whistling toward the refs from the stands. Both players have equal right to play for the the ball. Both players were chasing the ball (Hansen wasn't in control of the ball), both collided with their feet. Call for Norway. On what ground?
78' 1-2 Lee Geummin chests ball facing away at 13m left post, chases the bounce to 16m left post. Backheel through the line to 6m 1/3 left Yeo Minji spinning past Mjelde. Mjelde tugs back on Yeo's left arm, only helps Yeo spin down and scythe right foot sweep over Hjelmseth's left leg, into 2/5 right back low. Backheel! Yeo Min-ji takes one back for South Korea!!!Peep that back-heel nutmeg to set it up 👌👌👌 pic.twitter.com/oWn4HnOeNC— FOX Soccer (@FOXSoccer) June 17, 2019 82' 1-2 Korea Republic subs in (3 of 3) #12 Kang Yumi for #9 Moon Mira. 83' 1-2 Ji Soyun keeps ball alive 1-v-1 at left corner ark, pokes it back. Lee Geummin collects and drives to 9m box left, shoots right instep bend to 1/4 right 1/3 high, Hjelmseth dives (her) left and blocks it rightward. That was a shot on goal, bending in at right post
I almost missed that because of the VAR-craziness in the other match! But I managed to watch replays and that backheel assist was really sweet! Korea at least leaves the World Cup with a goal, and a beautiful one at that (the goal they scored in their own goal didn't count! ).
Hansen was dribbling and the defender recklessly lunged into her path and missed the ball and almost broke her ankle and maybe even did. There is a photo on the Swedish press of her left leg upright and her foot more than 90 degrees bent the other direction. She'll be out for a while. Real loss for Norway, and for everyone, one of the most exciting players in the entire Cup.
