You can go back several decades and add the Iran of the Shah's reign. That also fits the "CIA gets involved there . . . . In the end the exact opposite happens" rubric.
Or the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. You would think that this misadventure would have defined the ideology of an entire generation because that one actually ran up a massive American body count. But in typical entitled baby boomer fashion, we keep going back to that well thinking that THIS TIME it'll work ...
You can read like 5 articles per month or so (it varies by publications), I get paywalled all the time after I reach the limit. Plus you mostly spew talking points with no back up.
You’re wrong about China, btw.. You’re right that they aren’t using military power to expand their sphere of influence outside of the China Sea, however, they are using economic power to expand their sphere of influence. They’ve dumped billions of dollars into Africa and Central America building infrastructure, soccer stadiums, business districts, etc. It’s been fairly effective in gettijg governments to support them, but it isn’t very effective among the people as they tend to use Chinese during construction and as workers rather than locals..
Ukraine has always been under the influence of the user/Russia. USA influence there has always been limited. We didn't intervene in Ruwanda, no economic benefit for us, how did that work out. We could have stayed out of the Yugoslavia break up conflict, but Bill C wanted to distract from a blow job. We may stay away when China finnally invades Taiwan, I am sure that will be for the best, why spend American life or money defending Taiwan?
Eventually those loans are due, when governments can't repay and don't give up the strategic asset that they used as guarantee what will China do? Or next time that there is a change in government and the new government decides to nationalize business owned by Chinese companies, how will they react? We will see, they may react better than western powers or they may go down the same intervionist path using the protection of their business interests as an excuse, just like we have done.
LOL! I am going out on a limb here, but you don't read the Washington Post... or any publication that requires a paid subscription.
Wow, here is some first class analysis from a sophisticated and well read tool. It is too stupid to even warrant a comment.
Maybe. I'm not convinced that Belt and Road will be any more successful than when the Soviets pumped billions into their client states. But at the end of the day, if war breaks out in Montenegro or Kyrgyzstan or Thailand, we are still gonna be the major player.
Also the South Pacific. I've read articles in the Cook Islands News that have shown increasing signs of worry by people there that China might start calling in favors for all the "gifts" it has given them.
I’ve read a few of those articles as well. Seems that Australia is the most concerned by the Chinese Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs’ sugar coating of their stated and perceived intentions.
Jong Un-ian: President Donald Trump's campaign fired several pollsters after internal polling numbers that showed the President lagging behind Democratic presidential candidates in key states were made public, according to multiple sources. https://www-m.cnn.com/2019/06/16/politics/trump-fire-campaign-pollsters-numbers-leak/index.html?r=https://www.cnn.com/
What? No executions? Everyone knows dear Leader is beloved by 100% of his people. Those pollsters were obviously part of the deep state/fake news cabal and deserve to be executed in the public square!!!!
Genius The U.S. Treasury saw a 31% drop in corporate tax revenues last year, almost twice the decline official budget forecasters had predicted. Receipts were projected to rebound sharply this year, but so far they’ve only continued to fall. https://t.co/QYZow5vnEL— Lisa Abramowicz (@lisaabramowicz1) June 14, 2019
Nobody with a minimum of decency and self respect can work for this ass****. Just over 20 seconds into this clip Trump gruffly asks Mick Mulvaney to leave the room because he coughed. No, seriously. Watch it for yourself.Well adjusted people with a shred of empathy simply don’t behave this way. pic.twitter.com/5aKfTVruRK— Aaron Rupar (@atrupar) June 17, 2019
It never ceases to amaze me how many people pretend otherwise, first because he was rich, and now because it is politically expedient. He's a ********ing freak show. And once again, my comment is NOT political. I don't care that he is a Republican. I didn't write such things about Mitt, McCain, either Bush, Reagan, Dole, you name it. Today's Republicans love to combat Trump criticisms by pretending that they are politically motivated. ******** no. They are humanly motivated. He is a strange, evil person.
