Quite likely and which is why its so bitter sweet. For most it was their once in life time opportunity to have glory at the world stage and become legends. However, I hope and believe many will have a successful footballing career, as players as coaches, as mangers and make Korean football better and stronger. They can share this achievement and experience with others and fuel the dreams and fire in other players.
Reminds me of Croatia's run in Russia. Best result of the team, but it could've been more. That gold was close...
After watching LKI at this tournament, it's clear he needs to play on the left side instead of centrally.
Well here's the difference. Croatia was playing against a stacked adult team. Korea would not even be able to play in the R16 versus an adult team. The only chances we have are in mickey mouse competitions like asian cups or younger tournaments, since the competition is more even.
It looked like they were trying to run the offense through UWS for a lot of the game and he was consistently getting stuffed. Hard to watch. Good play to Ukraine, plus their kids were giant and athletic with better pace. Glad LKI got the golden ball. His crossing and set piece taking ability is extraordinary.
With a competent tactician, KNT can handle the teams of the world. With LKI coming to take set pieces for KNT, it will be that much deadlier.
These kids better get contracts from Europe. All i'm hoping, even before this tournament started, is for our team to get some love calls from scouts/agents/international clubs. They need to start developing exponentially.
I agree. Korea looked like we had no real strategy and was easily outmuscled so I feel like a tikitaka style of play would better suit us in the future. Also we need to brush up technically lost too many silly balls and let Ukraine capitalize on silly mistakes. Ukraine were playing bad long balls a lot of the first half of the match as well, so they had their flaws but they adjusted to to break through our team head on.
No to tiki-taka. It means you have to have technically gifted 11 players on the pitch. Even if Korea had this, it'd be boring to watch. Instead, something fast-paced and not bound to any specific passing length will favor the Taeguk Warriors. Some players can pass, some can't.
just tired that asia can't even win a world trophy, even africa won this junior cup. if we can't win a u20 cup when we win a senior world cup. obviously it's my sadness that speaks...
.... we had a bunch of retarded managers who tried tiki-taka and it never worked.. We dont even have that many players who know how to pass..
Tottenham could get rid of Eriksen as set piece taker. Imagine the calamity LKI would cause aiming at the likes of Vertonghen, Sanchez, Wanyama...
Lee Kang-in getting the golden ball is a W in my eyes. Is he the 2nd youngest player to do so after Messi? The thought of him feeding balls to Son is just tantalizing
Much deserved award for him. I know he would’ve rather won the final with the team instead of an individual prize but I’m glad he’s being recognized for being a great player. Just gotta add that I found LKI very admirable throughout the tournament. Loved the leadership qualities he displayed. Very composed. Constantly encouraged his teammates. Even after the match today, he was the one consoling his hyungs despite being the youngest.
