According to TyC Sports, Pezzella remains a doubt from his injury and the team doesn't want to risk it, which is a good idea imo. However, it means that Foyth will most probably be playing which concerns me as I think it's going to be difficult for him to deal with those strong Colombian players in corner situations for example. Hope he will do well if he starts.

Also, it looks like Scaloni will decide between Pereyra and Paredes for that third midfield spot with Guido and Lo Celso. Di Maria looks very certain to start as the third attacking player alongside Messi and Aguero.

Since Lo Celso will be linking with Aguero and Messi, Di Maria should be doing some defensive work aswell not just continuously charging forward. Otherwise, it would be too attacking.

Foyth might be young but it would be important playing time for him if we're going to build for next year tournament and WC 2022.

Wish we had Musacchio or Garay. I really hope Pazzella is able to return mid-tournament.

How has Musacchio been doing, by the way? Haven't heard anything about him since his Villarreal days.

I remember him having a knee injury towards the end of 2018, but that's about all I've seen regarding him since he joined Milan 2 years ago.

From just reading comments from Milano supporters, he’s been mediocre at best. Not enough good showings.

Asking ADM to have defensive duties, you’re asking for disaster.

This is why De Paul should start on the left in place of ADM. He can track back and help defend. De Paul was tied 18th highest goal scorer and 5th highest for assists in Serie A.

I wouldn't expect ADM to play full 90s or the full tournament, so you can bet we will see De Paul there and he WILL make an impact!

Also look for Peryera to make an impact in this tournament when given a chance. I would like to see how well he can defend. I imagine he can be used as a guy to rejuvinate the team's energy when coming on in the 60th minute and holding a lead.

Musacchio started 29 games for AC Milan and was pretty solid. A lot more experienced than Foyth.

Somebody we should focus on and not rely on players like Garay and Musacchio is Romero.
Juve might actually sell him to Lazio so they could buy SMS of Lazio. Lazio really like him, and want him if they sell SMS to Juve.

I’m sorry if I’m misunderstanding, but are you saying Juve might sell Romero before he even arrives at the club? If that’s the case, why didn’t they just use the €30 million they spent on Romero as part of the payment for Sergej instead?

It doesn’t make sense to me. Offer Romero on loan as part of the deal, ok, but flat out trade him weeks after agreeing his incorporation? Wtf?

    https://www.90min.com/posts/6387080...uo-to-land-100m-rated-sergej-milinkovic-savic

Juventus are considering offering Lazio Leonardo Spinazzola and Cristian Romero in their bid to sign midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

According to the Corriere dello Sport via Football Italia, I Bianconeri want to get around I Biancocelesti's £100m asking price by including left back Spinazzola and defender Romero in the deal.

    ——-

Yes,’I agree with you. It is a bit odd, especially when Juve players such as Barzagli in recent reports were saying nothing but praise about him. So, it could just merely be rumors of the market, who knows.

Still illogical imo. Should’ve just used those €30m as “part of the payment”

Unless, of course, they plan on valuing Romero at 50-60m during the negotiations for Sergej, which would make more sense but still a disgraceful tactic.

I’d be pretty pissed if I were Cristian, tbh. Regardless of whether or not the deal goes through, the fact that Juve is already using him as a chess piece in the transfer window before he even gets a chance to train at the club proves that perhaps they don’t rate him as highly as he might have thought.

So, it appears that Pezzella could start, along with Nico in the back. ADM could replace Mati. I think most people will be happy with this. The rest is pretty much the same.

Palacios might be a bigger miss than we realize. There's no other b2b midfielder in this squad.

I would like to see this midfield:

    DePaul - Guido - LoCelso

Scaloni is in love with Paredes so I don't think he would bench him, but I think that this midfield would provide enough defensive cover while also supporting the attack.

According to reports there is only 1 doubt: Paredes or Pereyra.

    Team will be:

    ---------------------------Armani---------------------------
    Saravia---Pezzella---Otamendi---Tagliafico
    Lo Celso---Pereyra/Paredes---Guido---Di María
    ----------------------Messi-----Aguero------------------

I really like this team. It's like a new start. My only concern is that there will be a lot of pressure on Guido Rodriguez down the middle. I hope he's matured a lot since his time at River, because his performance will be key in defending and helping the team achieve balance.

Yeah he was a scrub in River, never gave anything better than a 4/10 performance.

He has apparently made strides in Mexico, but I can’t help but have memories of an extremely average player from my days watching him

So Andrada has been dropped with the inflammation on the knee not allowing the medical team to see if there is a more serious problem and the team decided not to risk it. I really hope either one of Musso, Gazzaniga or Benitez is called up. Hopefully, Andrada makes a full recovery ASAP.

EDIT: Musso will be the replacement

As I’ve said before, I’m always the optimist, going in with the glass half-full. I think we’re going to do well. Even if we start slow in the first game, I still believe in this side.

We are Argentina, I think we should always see ourselves as a favorite. Trying to downplay it is a smart move but with the likes of Messi and Kun starting and the promise of Lo Celso, we will be feared and for people to say this is a weak side, no team with a starting duo of Messi and Kun is a weak side. The defense will creak a bit but it isn’t as bad as last year and our midfield is much improved from a year ago.

Personally I would have been surprised if you of all people had expectations in our team.

Really this copa’s is anyone’s to take. I wouldn’t say we’re favorites, but what do the other teams have that we don’t? Brazil, Colombia, Uruguay, etc are all filled with great players, but it’s not like they’re unstoppable, flawless sides.

On a good day we can take on any SA team, we’ll just have to hope for no injuries or idiotic Rojo-like actions from our players.
