I hope it doesn't end up like Miyaichi with Arsenal or even Itakura with Man City. Real Madrid is simply too stacked for him to play in and imo part of the reason he is being signed is due to marketing reasons as well.

Hopefully, they will loan him to lower Spanish sides in the La Liga to gain minutes once he has completed a season with Castilla. Wish all the best for him and hope that he surpass Odegaard's current situation.

So he will play at Segunda B because Castilla has lost he promotion play-off. Hope he will play at some of first team at couple of CdR matches.

Agreed. Odegaard was brilliant at Eredivisie, A bit reverse situation with Doan, yet, his way back to Bernabeu is still very bleak. At current condition, Kubo definitely a miles better player than Miyaichi though. So best wishes for him... It could be very exciting.

doubt he can this season as he won't be eligible. all non-EU spot are used up.. unless one of the Brazilians pick up Spanish citizenship (out of 4 brazilians without Spanish passport/citizenship.. at least 2 of them has to be sold/loaned out or have to gain a passport for Kubo)

Bad for his development, Segunda B might not even be as good as J league. I really hope Madrid can loan him to a club like Eibar, Girona, Alaves, etc. after this coming season. Spending your most important development years as a footballer in Segunda B is not really very good imo.

Agreed. sadly Betis won't be coached by Setien anymore. It would be nice watching him under Setien.

i don't mind the initial start at Castilla. readjustment to spanish life, football and etc should be good for him without the crazy pressure/burden. my guess is he will play some UYL too...

but after 6month or so, depending on his development.. i hope he finds a club at higher lvl (div 2 or La Liga club) to go out on loan.

That's reasonable enough, i guess. Watching Sancho, a player of his age, lighting-up the whole Bundesliga make me really hope, Kubo can keep-up with his development as soon as possible.

But, i'm happy enough, watching his turn of development this season, after some worrying spell at his early Tokyo days.

Kubo is at a higher level than Miyaichi, Doan, Usami, etc ever were at this age.

Barca were naive to think that Kubo was going to join them just because his past with La Masia. They tried to be cheap and paid the price.

It's not even remotely close, sadly.
I hope the 2mln wage rumor is true - otherwise this might turn out pretty bad.
Hope he destroys in SegundaB in the next year because he really need to do that to get a chance in La Liga.

The ball is now in his court.
If Kubo lights up the screen with Castilla, he'll get some playing time with first team sooner than expected. It's not any more complicated than that.

Without being euphoric I want to stay hopeful.

He easily the best player in JLeague already, so i think he is good enough. Whether he is a legit Barca-Real standard, well, the truth is putting on its shoes.

I don't agree a lot with the best player in J league, he may be among the best among the young players. I don't think he stands out much more compared to the likes of Oliviera and Hiroki Abe, etc. He may be better than them by quite a bit but still I have my reservations whether he is the best in the J league. At least, in the youth tournaments I have seen him thus far e.g U-20 WC 2 years ago and etc., he still have quite a bit to improve on.

    Not surprising, he was 16.
But this year, he has clearly stepped up to a next level.

About whether or not he can be an indisputable holder in La Liga for the upcoming season... honestly, I don't know how we could respond to these types of questions.

We'll get some elements of response during Copa America.

I think so, but playing Segunda Division B is four steps behind that.

Lee Kang In just won Golden Ball, hopefully Kubo can follow in his footsteps and show the world that Asia can provide superstars.

Asia provided superstars, what Asia lacks is a footballer starting for a Top Club as Barca/Real/Bayern/etc

Son reach the UCL final but Spurs are not valued as a Top Club.
Kagawa in Bundesliga had, imo, the best seasons ever for an asian footballer in the last 30 years, but Dortmund is not valued as a Top Club.

Anyway this Kubo story reminds me CT Road to 2002 when Tsubasa debuts in Barcelona B and scores by the kickoff to prove his skills and be promoted in the first team lol.

You know, in order to Asian players succeed in Europe, just like Hiroki Sakai says, they must play way better than their Latinos and Africans peers, because if the asians play at the same level, then the European clubs will surely choose the former ones. I'm saying this after reading this news: https://www.90min.com/posts/6387686...JVxICWwlWrQ6OqQNJWHBS0U4AVBkvj2AlrFQW2Cb4vISU. I've already watched this guy Murilo playing, and he is not as good as Tomiyasu or even Ayumu Seko, yet Europe's top clubs wants to sign him. If Tomiyasu was African or Latino, he would already be at Liverpool or Ajax.
But anyway, both Kubo and Kang-in have great potential, if they keep evolving, they will sure be among the World's best players in the future.

Youth level means nothing, we must wait and see whether Kubo can get a starting spot in the world's biggest club.

That's the only means of being considered as a superstar by european/south american and even african general public...
