Montagliani is the guy behind the Nations League. He's the guy who went on TV in Monterrey and said that the future for Mexico is in CONCACAF when asked about Mexico returning to Copa America and Libertaores. It's clear his M.O is for more CONCACAF bullshit and for Mexico to be kept here to improve their crap competitions. A lot of you are talking about this as if it were just recent and maybe it is for the split but this has been going on for YEARS. It all started when CONCACAF forced Mexico to go to the 2011 Copa America with the Olympic team hiding behind the fact that Mexico needed to be respected and practice for it but in reality it was to force Mexico to send their A team to the Gold Cup. It's not a coincidence that since 2007, the only tournament where Mexico was able to send their A squad was the one hosted by a CONCACAF country and with 6 CONCACAF teams.

CONMEBOL is a huge whore confederation like CONCACAF and I'm sure if the money was good and they had complete control, they would be on par with it. I'm sure those FIFA arrests by the FBI and having to share the money had a lot more to do with them not wanting to play it there again.

Precisely? Wasn't it because CONMEBOL wanted to switch the calendar so the winning team was in better rhythm for the Club World Cup? Which is why the final was almost weeks into the CWC these past years. Granted, Bonilla is a toolbag and the fixture thing has less to do so than the fact that unlike Copa America, a lot of clubs and organizations aren't as keen to go back to Libertadores but neither do I buy the "CONMEBOL was doing it for Mexico" angle either.

I'm sure that Mexico would prefer the old way of being in CONCACAF for qualifiers and participating in CONMEBOL tournaments but I don't know if the way things are now is going to fly either. That being said it should come from the fans since directivos are money driven and not that cunning as some think either.

I was saying that Concacaf adjusted the CCL in part to do Mexico a favor, i.e. they weren't the reason the FMF left the Libertadores.

same old shit. This generation needs Copa America/Libertadores and even Sudamericana.

    This generation:

    Hirving Lozano
    Erick Gutierrez
    Jesus "Tecatito" Corona
    Diego Lainez
    Rodolfo Pizarro
    Charly Rodriguez
    Edson Alvarez
    Jose Juan Macias
    Cesar Montes
    Carlos Vargas
    Jorge Sanchez
    Gerardo Arteaga
    Jesus Angulo
    Sebastian Jurado

The first four are already in Europe and the next three are on the verge on going to Europe and aside from Cesar Montes, the remainder could use another year in LigaMX before making the jump. Martino is not shy about using young players so as long as the bottom 6 continue to play weekly in the league, they'll get a chance to showcase themselves with the National Team.

They need to develop chemistry playing together especially against top south American teams in competition.

It's only halftime and there still a lot to go but all my life it keeps repeating that the host country opens up the Copa America with Bolivia and they always complicate things and surprise everyone.

    1999 Paraguay 0 Bolivia 0
    2004 Peru 2 Bolivia 2
    2007 Venezuela 2 Bolivia 2
    2011 Argentina 1 Bolivia 1

Yeah hopefully they destroy Boliva and just save everybody the time. Plus I'm rooting for Brazil to win it all with no Mexico playing.
