Ruso started and played 95 minutes in Portland’s 2-1 victory against Toronto. Ceren was subbed on the 77th minute of Houston’s 2-0 victory against Colombus. Neither Fito nor Portillo saw any minutes for LAFC or RSL respectively.

He seems to be really low on the depth chart. The open cup isn’t really a focus for MLS clubs and he only got a few minutes in it. Bradley clearly doesn’t rate him very high
He's a money grabber. He was signed with the intent to sell tickets and reach the central American demographic in LA.
I still think Fito can do some real damage with LAFC. He’s just gotta prove himself in the small amount of minutes he gets here. The real thing is for him to open doors for others. If he can do that i think it’ll be considered successful.
He does meet and greets, signs autographs, on top of I bet the marketing staff probably thought LAFC could get him fit and acclimated to the tactics in time.. Prob a gamble on their part. I reckon he'll come back by August.
The MLS is already open for our players because the MLS really wants the large Salvadorian expat community to support the league. Regardless of how Fito does so long as MLS teams see large turnouts at Salvadorian games played in the USA the door to MLS will remain open regardless of how low our players level is. Fito is like Catracho says just a marketing hype signing. They spent more time advertising him then playing him.
It’s the same song and dance they’ve been doing for years now. Some examples *Chivas USA with Iraheta and Purdy and this is after Purdy looked great in the WCQ prior to the implosion because of the idiots in charge. Neither ever really played and the few times Purdy did they played him out of position instead of playing him at CB his optimal position what a ********ing waste. During that time frame fans still voted him player of the month and this is with him rotting on the bench the fans didn’t show up to the stadium but they would still show support on social media. *FC Dallas with Fito but they weren’t taking the risk with him being out of shape. Also them inquiring about him was odd since FC Dallas has been pushing a youth movement of sorts the last few years. I would say San Jose with Jaime but I honestly I can’t remember.
Purdy was actually pretty good but due to club situations they never gave him a chance. Iraheta was a bit inconsistent and needed a bit improvements in some parts of his game. Iraheta was mostly a rotation MLS player, but he didn't really get the opportunity for that either. I almost for J. Alas with SJ. If only they gave him more time. With the little time he had he showed some potential. His teammates didn't really want to play with him either. To me that was when he was in his prime, but due to the situation with his older brother and the clean of most of his national team members. It probably messed up his focus on the sport. Vela and Zelaya would be an interesting duo. Let's just hope it happens. Rossi is his competition.
In the case of Jaime it exposed how limited he actually was he couldn’t keep up while in Norway which lead to them picking up a Costa Rican player (sorry his name escapes me atm.) and he adapted quickly ending any chance for Jaime to break into the starting XI. Also his style just didn’t fit with what San Jose was running at the time so he stuck out as a sore thumb and his errors were more visible. Also he was looking a bit pudgy at the time so that probably rubbed coaches the wrong way. As for Purdy the sad thing is the tape was out there of his national team games where he played at a great level as a CB yet clubs never wanted to play him there and would put him outside where he would get burned by speedsters. Looking back at it how good would that CB pairing of Purdy and Turcios have been if not for Turcios suffering that horrible knee injury and Purdy’s career ending just a couple short years later. That was the closest we had to an extremely good back four with Pacheco, Purdy and Turcios with the glaring weakness of the right side I remember reading rumors that they eventually wanted to plug in Larin since Xavi wasn’t cutting it but he was serving that suspension at the time effectively ending all that.
Zelaya.. this guy just coming here 2 play a little bit & get his paperwork done & live in the u.s.........he's not into the sport no more
If that was true, he would’ve been at a PDL club already. Besides, he already had a green card prior to signing with LAFC so he doesn’t occupy an international spot.
That Costa Rican was Cristian Gamboa. I remember him because it is such a striking case comparing our players with Costa Rica. Gamboa was signed by West Brom after Rosenberg he is now with Celtic while Alas made his career in Guatemala. Sometimes our football is really depressing
Well let’s hope he actually has a breakout season. For those curious it is the same club that had Nelson last season. Otro legionario salvadoreño. Irvin Herrera jugará en el Sukhothai (Tailandia). Gestión de Oskar Olsen. pic.twitter.com/hqpsZ5t5S9— Claudio Martínez (@martinezchino) June 17, 2019
