I don't know much about the French league outside of PSG. What level of club is Lille generally? I looked at the standings for the past several years, and they finished 2nd, 17th, and 11th in the past 3 seasons, so they seem to be all over the place.

    Probably historically mid-table or so.

Lille is a good place for a young player to develop. They are very much a feeder club

IIRC the rule of thumb is divide the transfer fee by the length of the deal for the annual wages, so about 2 million Euros per year.

Just wait for Lille to make the champions league in the 20/21 season and eliminate Liverpool and Man City

Selfish but do hope for bundesliga instead. Now post what everyone stated for a transfer fee 30 pages back!

To provide some context for this move

Alexander Isak, who's roughly 5 months older than Weah, is being bought by Real Sociedad for around 10 million €

And that's after a pretty good showing with Willem II in the Eredivisie (13/7 in 16 appearances).

Says a lot about the value for Weah to go for a similar price, without having as strong of a club showcase

And I know we're kinda used to insane transfer fees now, but 10 millions Euros for an American is still a big deal. How many guys have we had who were sold for that much? Pulisic, obviously, Brooks, Altidore...anyone else?

It's like with movies: every year the tickets record is broken, but it doesn't mean more tickets are bought.

Altidore held the record for 10 years and Brooks had it maybe 6 months before Pulisic. Pulisic will have it for another decade at least.

It's a great sign of course.

Lille is particularly known for their youth development. I think Hazard went there first when he left Belgium (it's also relatively close to home, which didn't hurt) But in general Lille has had a good rep for it's youth system, Dunno if that's still true as I haven't looked at it in a while.

I think this is probably unbeatable... but of course, I'll still throw a few thousand alts.
