Yes, that's what I'm saying. Waiting for a World Class Germerican to chose U.S. seems like a long longshot. But .... fingers crossed.
Why would they? Jones himself would've chosen Germany if he were world class. That's the catch-22 of that pipeline. Why not just hope for a world class American in general? There's a great chance of that happening.
I'm not disagreeing with your definition of world class but so far you haven't defined it just gainsaid players others have called world class. How are you defining it and how many current players in the world qualify in your definition.
Here is a thread that has Kicker’s world class players over the years. They don’t hand out such rankings easily. Of course, this is just their definition. https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/kicker-commentary-for-world-class-players.2058932/
Ok, in summary, for Kicker, the term World Class is rarified air. Sometimes only one in a year, or, none.
Seriously that's a bit too rare. Basically saying only the very best player is world class. Not sure how I'd define it. I was thinking maybe top 3 player on top four teams in big four leagues but that's 48 players. Tough to define.
To my knowledge, there has never been anywhere near consensus on what "world class" means, nor agreement on who is such. It's mostly just completely subjective jargon with little meaning. That said, top 50 players in the world would seem apt to describe "world class". Of course, "world class finish" or "save" is another thing, and infinitely more subjective.
I’ve always made the distinction that World Class has to be done over more than a year. You need to consistently show you are of that cut. Not just one off. But that’s me. Like you said everyone seems to have their own definition.
Tenorio is reporting that Man City will loan Steffen next season to Fortuna Dusseldorf. https://theathletic.com/1010473/201...d-zack-steffen-on-loan-to-fortuna-dusseldorf/
Good news for him the two GKs are 35 and 39. Competition shouldn’t be too strong. He should have a legit chance to take the starting spot.
Pepe is likely gone this summer or next so he will get a chance to play wide. And Lille do play youth.
Such a critical choice that many get wrong but it can't be easy to know a club's intentions and how long those in the club who like you will last.
No doubt a lot of variables. I hope he goes somewhere that has a strong FO/Entrenched coach known for playing young players. Belgium would be a great location. I’d stay away from Portugal tho. Hope he leaves Denmark but wouldn’t be the worst thing to stay for another year or two. Especially if he jumps to a larger club.
Lord help me I still haven’t forgiven this kid for that tweet. Enjoy northeastern Switzerland dude. Check out the epic library.
