Lindley has a tremendous passing range. If he could learn to defend better, he could carve out a pretty good career and might be able to make the USMNT.

Pretty exciting from NYCFC. NCFC is no walkover and should test them. Perez has been out since the last Open Cup game and may not be available, but DJ Taylor (97) should start.

Josh Perez for LAFC and a ton of players on RSL, most of which are on the bench.

Really hoping to see Arriaga and Vazquez, although wasn’t there something about Vazquez representing Mexico or being likely to?

Just wanted to say that the Atlanta game getting postponed is the most Carleton thing ever. He finally gets a run out in a game with the first team in his natural position with a first team lineup and it gets delayed. I was really looking forward to it, but alas.

Cowell got about 20 minutes for San Jose. It was my first time watching him. Good touch, extremely fast, but doesn't rely on it. He might actually underutilize it because he wasn't trying to make runs as much as he should.

I'd characterize him as a high floor, low ceiling player. His cleanliness and speed will make him an easy candidate to become a usable pro, but he didn't do anything eye-popping.

In hindsight, I'm probably being harsh on someone who doesn't turn 16 for over 6 months, but just my two cents. He definitely looks like someone that deserves his MLS contract, though. I'd be curious to see if anyone else had thoughts.

    That all sounds right.

This felt like an appearance that was mostly about him starting to get comfortable being with the first team. It would have been interesting to see how he would have played had they not gone up a goal. His job became mainly just to help keep possession. There was that one time he tried to beat a guy and you can see one of his teammates giving him the universal signal to calm down.

He did look more comfortable than he was for Reno over the weekend (He scored a goal in that one but it was off a gift from a defender and he didn't otherwise have a big impact) and I'm looking forward to seeing the type of stuff he does when he's completely settled in.

Akanyirige ('01) ended up on the bench with SJ, which is an encouraging sign because I believe he's been out for a long while with an injury.

I don’t see Cowell as a high level ‘03. I think he’s a fringe caliber YNT player for his age group. He’s very fast and explosive when he’s running with the ball, but there isn’t much talent there, IMO.

I believe that's Bryan Reynolds first start for FCD as well...........................
He finally seems to be making inroads.

Also, Brandon Servania. Is that his first start? He's been around for a while, so I don't know. Maybe? The twitterverse is suggesting that he's having a nice game.

Pepi technically got an assist on a Barrios goal here.............

Keaton Parks with a goal for NYCFC.

Parks actually got 2 and was inches away from the ball on the opener which was an OG. I figure he’s earned some more time with tonight’s performance.

MLS clubs used to have a lot of problems against NASL/USL teams when they didn't play their starting XIs. The backups would be equal to these minor league teams.

But I'm watching these NYCFC and FCD scores pile up with 16 year olds now, and am thinking the depth of young talent on these squads in MLS is like never before. Its not just that clubs are willing the play them, these kids are ready. Its so impressive.

There are going to be VERY few non-MLS teams in the Round of 16.
I don't know if tha'ts good for the competition, or not. St. Louis is in there, so that's one so far.

I liked Reynolds. If Cannon wasn't there then Reynolds could easily be starting.
